Edith J. Stone, 76

Thursday, June 25, 1998

GRAFTON -- Edith J. (Keyes) Stone, 76, formerly of Grafton, died yesterday in Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.

Her husband of 47 years, Ernest F. Stone, died in 1986. She leaves two sons, Ralph E. Stone of North Brookfield, and Donald J. Stone of Sterling; four daughters, Judith H. Austin of Worcester, Sandra Hannon of North Miami Beach, Fla., Audrey Parsons of Westfield, Pa. and Donna Dion of Norton; a brother Leonard Keyes of North Adams; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A sister, Helen Charbonneau, died in January of this year.

She was born in Millbury, daughter of Lewis C. and Florence (Chilson) Keyes, and was raised in Grafton where she lived until 1975. She then moved to Norton where she lived for 13 years before returning to Grafton in 1988. In 1994 she moved to Worcester with her daughter, and last year she entered the Lifecare Center of Auburn. She was a graduate of Grafton High School.

Mrs. Stone was a waitress for Buggy Whip Catering in South Grafton for many years, retiring in 1960. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Grafton.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and traveling during her retirement.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Robert C. Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton. Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 5 to 8 p.m. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions made to the Lifecare Center of Auburn, Resident Activity Fund, 14 Masonic Circle, Auburn 01501.

Eileen A. Sundberg, 85

Monday, June 22, 1998

HOLDEN -- Eileen A. (Hedstrom) Sundberg, 85, of 144 Fort Sumter Drive, died Saturday in Salisbury Nursing Center, Worcester, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 54 years, the Rev. Roland D. Sundberg; a son, Paul E. Sundberg of West Stockbridge; a brother, Robert A. Hedstrom of Dothan, Ala.; two grandsons; nephews and nieces. She was born in Gardner, daughter of E. Gustaf and Pauline (Simenson) Hedstrom, and later lived in Moosup, Conn. She then lived in Cleveland, Canton, Norwalk, Medina, and Barberton, all in Ohio, before moving here in 1976. She graduated from Gardner High School and attended Lasell Junior College in Newton.

Mrs. Sundberg once worked in the payroll department at Hedstrom Co., a family business in Gardner. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Worcester and Canton Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, in Ohio.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be in Green Bower Cemetery, Gardner. Calling hours are 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at the church. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., is directing arrangements.

Margaret I. Superchi, 73

Thursday, June 25, 1998

WORCESTER -- Margaret I. Superchi, 73, of 85 North Lake Ave., a retired dietitian, died Monday in University of Massachusetts Hospital after being stricken ill at home.

She leaves a sister, Eleanor MacDonald, with whom she lived; two brothers, Oliver Superchi of Longmeadow and Thomas Superchi of Athol; nieces and nephews. She was born in Athol, daughter of Antonio and Irene Pasqua (Passardi) Superchi, and lived here more than 22 years. She graduated from Orange High School, and earned a bachelor's degree in education from St. Joseph College, Emmittsburg, Md., and a master's degree in education from Worcester State College. She also interned at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

Miss Superchi was a registered dietitian for more than 33 years, including eight years at Paul Revere Insurance Co., retiring in 1989. She was also a dietitian at University of Massachusetts Hospital for 10 years. She previously supervised the dietary departments at various hospitals and nursing care centers in Massachusetts and Connecticut. At one time, Miss Superchi was a Catholic nun, Sister Anthony Irene of the Order Daughters of Charity, St. Vincent de Paul in Emmittsburg.

She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church and its Women's Guild and Senior Group. She also served as a lector and a CCD teacher for more than 20 years. She was a member of Central Massachusetts State and American Dietary Associations. She was also a past officer of the American Business Women's Association and was honored as Woman of the Year in 1985. She was a member of International Trentino Club of Italy.

The funeral will be held tomorrow from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church, 75 Alvarado Ave. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions made to the American Cancer Society, 19 Midstate Drive, Auburn, MA 01501.

Bernice E. Tamalevich, 86

Tuesday, June 23, 1998

WORCESTER -- Bernice E. “Betty” (Czerwinski) Tamalevich, 86, of 178 Oak St., Ashland, formerly of 348 Millbury St., Worcester, a sportswear seamstress for many years, died yesterday in St. Patrick's Manor, Framingham.

Her husband of 48 years, Anthony F. Tamalevich, died in 1987. She leaves a daughter, Carol A. Borek, with whom she lived; a grandson, Michael F. Borek; two granddaughters, Ann Marie and Mary E. Borek, all of Ashland; nephews and nieces. She was born in Manchester-by-the-Sea, daughter of Joseph and Stella (Dombrowski) Czerwinski, and lived 75 years in Worcester before moving to Ashland last year. She graduated from David H. Fanning Trade High School.

Mrs. Tamalevich was a seamstress at Jackson Sportswear Co., for many years before she retired.

She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, its Women's Guild and Council 26, Knights of Lithuania.

The funeral will be held Thursday from Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Members of Council 26, Knights of Lithuania, will meet there at 7:15 p.m. tomorrow to conduct a ritual. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Memorial Fund, 34 Ward St., Worcester, MA 01610.

Pola A. Toczko

Thursday, June 25, 1998

WORCESTER -- Pola A. (Luszczynski) Toczko, of 12 Lodi St., a retired waitress, died Sunday in St. Vincent Hospital.

Her husband, Frank A. Toczko, died in 1989. She leaves a son, Norbert F. Toczko, of Manassas, Va.; a daughter, Alfreda A. Fromfield, of Upper Montclair, N.J.; a brother, Elwin J. Luszczynski, of Worcester; two sisters, Regina M. Lawendowski and Helen R. Chadwick, both of Worcester; four grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., daughter of Antoni and Bronislawa (Makowski) Luszczynski, and lived here since 1923. She graduated from Commerce High School.

Mrs. Toczko was a waitress for many years at the Polish Naturalization Independent Club, retiring several years ago.

She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. She was also a member of the Queen Hedwig Society of the Polish National Alliance Society 758.

The funeral was held yesterday with a Mass in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery. There were no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity. Henry Funeral Service, 33 Ward St., directed arrangements.

Jean H. Velleco, 71

Thursday, June 25, 1998

BOYLSTON -- Jean H. (Carlow) Velleco, 71, of 23 East Temple St., died Tuesday in Memorial Hospital, Worcester.

Her husband, Vincent J. Velleco, died in 1989. She leaves two daughters, Nancy J. Velleco and Julia J. Hucknall, both of Boylston; two sisters, Phyllis Maillet of Worcester and Christine Pressey of Mount View, Calif.; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Clarence E. and Anna (Johnson) Carlow, and lived here 44 years. She was a member of the Commerce Class 45-B, Commerce High School, Worcester.

Mrs. Velleco was a member of St. Mary's of the Hills. She enjoyed her summer home in Moody, Maine.

The funeral will be held Saturday from Nordgren Carrigan Mangsen Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's of the Hills, 630 Cross St. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions made to Boylston Public Library, 695 Main St., Boylston, MA 01505.

Deborah K. Witkowski

LEOMINSTER -- Deborah K. Gray Witkowski, 32, of 183 Willard St., died Sunday from injuries suffered in an accident on Route 12 in Leominster.

She leaves her husband, John T. Witkowski; three sons, John P. Gray, Branden T. Gray and Justin G. Witkowski, all of Leominster; her father, Gerald C. Gray of Clinton; her mother and step-father, Joyce (Benjamin) Cordero and Gabriel Cordero of Marlboro; a brother, Larry K. Gray of Aberdeen, N.J.; a sister, Suzanne Gray of Clinton; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Muriel (Gorrell) Benjamin of Brevard, N.C.; her paternal grandmother, Vivian I. (Ostrander) Gray of Ithaca, N,Y.; uncles; aunts; cousins; nephews and nieces. She was born in Johnson City, N.Y., and lived in Marlboro and Hudson before moving to Leominster 10 years ago. She graduated in 1985 from Marlboro High School.

Mrs. Gray Witkowski worked part time at Honey Farms in West Boylston.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Silas F. Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West St. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deborah Gray Witkowski Fund, care of BankBoston, 1 Main St., Leominster, MA 01453.

Edouard LeBlanc, 84

His wife of 20 years, Elise (Nadeau) LeBlanc, died in 1978. He leaves a son, David A. Malone of Somerville; a sister, Marie Lewkowicz of Bridgeport, Conn., and a niece and nephew. He was born in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, son of David and Judith LeBlanc.

Mr. LeBlanc was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was also a former member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner.

The funeral will be held tomorrow from Dufault-Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Home Care, a nonprofit corporation, 330 Montague City Road, Turner Falls, MA 01376.

Charles Pappas Sr., 78

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -- Charles “Chick” Pappas Sr., 78, of Rancho Mirage, formerly of Fitchburg, Mass., died Friday, Jan. 19, in Eisenhower Medical Center after an illness. Brandon-Simard Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.

Juliet E. Brown, 93

Friday, August 11, 2000

WORCESTER -- Juliet E. (Launier) Brown, 93, of 18 Brookside Ave., died Thursday, Aug. 10, in Holy Trinity Nursing Home after an illness.

Her husband, Wilbert E. Brown, died in 1997. She leaves a great-niece, Suzanne C. Ezen of the Jefferson section of Holden. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Ralph and Christine (Blais) Launier, and graduated from Wheelock College in Boston.

The funeral service and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., is directing arrangements.

Delmer H. Morrison, 86

WORCESTER -- Delmer H. Morrison, 86, of 12 Auburn St., a retired welder, died Monday, April 9, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, after an illness.

His wife was the late J. Anna (Aldstadt) Morrison. He leaves a son, James Morrison of Worcester; a daughter, Rhea M. Byer of Akron, Ohio; a brother, Hubert Morrison; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was born in West Virginia, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Morrison.

Mr. Morrison was a welder at B&W Manufacturing Co.

The private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Pierce Cemetery in Pierce, Ariz. There are no calling hours. Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., is directing arrangements.

Marcellaise Brodeur, 83

WORCESTER -- Marcellaise A. (Daigneault) Brodeur, 83, of 58 Weatherstone Drive, formerly of 9 Litchfield St., a retired bookkeeper, died Wednesday, April 11, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

She leaves her husband of 60 years, John P. Brodeur; two sons, Richard P. Brodeur of Plano, Texas, and Marc J. Brodeur of Newark, Del.; two daughters, Celeste Hedge of Worcester and Michelle Meomartino of North Grafton; a brother, Charles Daigneault of Woodcliff Lake, N.J.; a sister, Theresa Desaulniers of Moosup, Conn.; seven grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Arthur and Angelina (Bombadier) Daigneault.

Mrs. Brodeur was a bookkeeper more than 25 years for Kesseli & Morse Co., retiring in 1983. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, its Golden Age Club, and Des Dames de Ste. Anne Society.

The funeral will be held Saturday, April 14, from Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., with a Liturgy of the Word at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 53 Illinois St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Care Hospice Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
