Raymond Davidson Sr.

SHREWSBURY -- Raymond A. Davidson Sr., 75, of 351 South Quinsigamond Ave., a retired jeweler, died Monday, Aug. 7, in the Worcester Medical Center after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Gloria M. (Weagle) Davidson; two sons, Carl K. Davidson of Shrewsbury and Raymond A. Davidson Jr. of North Grafton; two sisters, Norma Sisco of Hubbardston and Lorraine Gould of South Carolina; three grandchildren;several nieces and nephews. He was born in Franklin, N.H., son of Adelard and Hermine (Champoux) Davidson, and lived in Shrewsbury for 49 years. He graduated from Cole Trade School in Southbridge.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Asia and the Pacific.

Mr. Davidson owned Davidson Jewelers for 26 years, before he sold the business and retired in 1990. Mr. Davidson was a Deputy Sheriff with the Worcester County Sheriff's Department in Worcester, and was a member of the Southern Massachusetts Police Association.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140. Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, is directing arrangements.

Dorothy C. Deedy, 85

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Dorothy C. Deedy, 85, formerly of Jamaica Plain, Mass., died Saturday, Aug. 5, In Hospice By The Sea.

Her husband, John J. Deedy, a former Worcester, Mass., city counselor and state representative, was killed in action in France in 1944. She leaves a daughter; a sister; a niece and three nephews, all of Worcester. A daughter died in infancy. She was born in Cambridge, Mass., and lived in Jamaica Plain for many years before moving to Florida. She received a bachelor's degree from Boston College and a master's degree from Simmons College.

She was an Army Nurse Corps veteran of World War II.

Mrs. Deedy was supervisor of public health in the Boston Public Schools for many years.

The funeral services were held in Florida. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug 10, in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations be made to Christ the King Monastery (Poor Claire Nuns), 3900 Sherwood Blvd., Delray Beach, FL 33445 or to Women in Military Service Memorial Foundation, Dept 560, Washington, DC. 20042-0560. Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, is directing local arrangements.

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The funeral service for Dorothy C. Deedy, 85, formerly of Jamaica Plain, Mass., and Worcester, Mass., was held in Florida. Mrs. Deedy died Saturday, Aug. 5, in Hospice By The Sea. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Among her relatives, she leaves a daughter, Dorothy C. Deedy of Boca Raton; and a sister, Claire Rehm of St. Louis. A daughter, Mary C. Deedy, died in infancy.

Pasquale G. DeLevo, 84

WEST BROOKFIELD -- Pasquale G. DeLevo, 84, of 72 Lake Shore Drive Extension, a retired purchasing agent, died Saturday, Aug. 5, in Wing Memorial Hospital, Palmer.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Germaine (LePage) DeLevo; a daughter, Donna Gay of West Brookfield; two grandsons; a great-grandson. He was born in Agawam, and lived in Springfield for many years before moving to West Brookfield in 1974.

Mr. DeLevo was a purchasing agent for Ley Construction Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1973.

He was a member of the Springfield Lodge of Elks 61.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 9, from Tazzini Funeral Home, corner of Locust and Main streets, Springfield, with a Mass at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Springfield. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Wing Memorial Hospital, Memorial Fund, 40 Wright St., Palmer, MA 01069.

Peter O. Desy, 89

WORCESTER -- Peter O. Desy, 89, of 161 West Mountain St., formerly of West Boylston, a World War II veteran and a retired printer, died Saturday, Aug. 5, at home.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Irene R. (Thibodeau) Desy; two sons, Peter R. Desy of West Boylston and Steven A. Desy of Acton; a sister, Gertrude Dubrule of North Grafton; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Providence, son of Louis and Catherine (Reynolds) Desy, and lived 47 years in West Boylston before moving to Worcester. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Desy was a printer at Heffernen Co., retiring 33 years ago. He previously was a printer at Assar Bartlett Co.

He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204, both in West Boylston.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston, with a Mass at 1:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, in the funeral home.

Mary R. DiGisi, 67

CLINTON -- Mary R. (Radock) DiGisi, 67, of 19 Terrance Ave. a retired bookkeeper, died Thursday, Aug. 10, at home after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 41 years, Michael P. DiGisi; a daughter, Maryellen Calocci of Holden; three brothers, Edward Radock of Natick, Frank Radock of Clinton and Peter Radock of Marlboro; four sisters, Anna Radock, Helen Boodry and Theresa Forgione, all of Clinton, and Delores Doherty of Sterling; a grandson; nephews and nieces. She was born in Clinton, daughter of Peter and Anna (Siok) Radock, and graduated from Clinton High School in 1950.

Mrs. DiGisi was a bookkeeper at Scott Associates and Perkins Engineering of Lancaster for more than 25 years before retiring.

She was a member of Our Lady of Jasna Gora Church, and was an artist and crafts person.

The funeral will be held Monday, Aug. 14, from Robert J. McNally Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Jasna Gora Church, 128 Franklin St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Elementary School, 128R Franklin St., Clinton, MA 01510.

Anthony Dokurno, 80

GARDNER -- Anthony C. Dokurno, 80, of 59 Eastwood Circle, a World War II veteran and a retired finisher, died Thursday, Aug. 3, in Heywood Hospital after an illness.

His wife, Damey (Aleson) Dokurno, died in 1995. He leaves a son, Anthony D. Dokurno of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Helen Rolf and Jennie Wolanski, both of Gardner; nieces and nephews. He was born in Gardner, son of Leon and Serafina (Liebiecz) Dokurno, and graduated from Gardner High School in 1938. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Cavalry in Africa and Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received near Nuremberg, Germany, and also earned the Bronze Star.

Mr. Dokurno was a finisher at Modern Contract Furniture Co., retiring in 1985.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church and a former member of the Gardner American Legion Post 129.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 9, from Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.

Juliet Mallett Dubeau

Sunday, August 13, 2000

WORCESTER -- Juliet A. (Sargent) Mallett Dubeau, 86, of 38 Dover St., a former waitress, died Saturday, Aug. 12, in Worcester Medical Center after an illness.

Her husband, Norman C. Dubeau, died in July. She leaves two sons, Joel D. Mallett of Jamestown, R.I., and Kevin W. Mallett of Placentia, Calif.; two stepsons, Robert and William Dubeau, both of Worcester; two daughters, Beverly A. Marley of Worcester and Maureen M. Brusa of Sutton; two brothers, William and Robert Sargent, both of Worcester; a stepsister, Ruth Buskey of Worcester; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Marie (O'Connor) Sargent.

Mrs. Dubeau was a waitress at Denholm's restaurant 21 years ago.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, and was active in several choral groups. She enjoyed traveling.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 15, from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the funeral home.

Edgar H. Ethier, 89

UPTON -- After cremation, the memorial Mass for Edgar H. Ethier, 89, of 13 Church St., will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in Holy Angels Church, Milford Street. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, Millbury. There are no calling hours. Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., is directing arrangements.

Mr. Ethier, a retired poultry farmer, died Thursday, Aug. 3, in Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital, Milford after a long illness.

Joseph J. Ewick, 80

WORCESTER -- Joseph J. Ewick, 80, of Worcester, a World War II veteran and a retired custodian, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, in Providence Care Center after an illness.

His wife of 53 years, Jane R. (Wuss) Ewick, died in December. He leaves a son, James J. Ewick of Worcester; three daughters, Carol Ann Wolochowicz of Mercerville, N.J., Janice B. Clark of Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Debra M. Capozzi of Wilmington; a brother, Pete Ewick of Harwich; a sister, Barbara Trocki of Worcester; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A brother, Stanley “Stitch” Ewick of Holden, died in 1978. He was born in Worcester, son of Peter and Mary (Kurdziel) Ewick, and was educated in Worcester schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe and at the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Ewick was a custodian for the Worcester School Department for 20 years, retiring in 1980. He was also a wire tester for U.S. Steel Co. Cable Division for 40 years.

He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa parish; a life member of the Polish American Veterans of World War II and the Disabled American Veterans; and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

The funeral, with military honors, will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, from Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in the funeral home. Members of the Polish American Veterans of World War II will meet at 7:30 during the calling hours to conduct their ritual. Please omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Central Massachusetts Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.

Marian V. Farrar, 78

Monday, August 7, 2000

WORCESTER -- Marian V. (Alexander) Farrar, 78, of 10 Diamond St., an employee of Moynihan Pharmacy, died Saturday, August 5, at UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus.

She leaves her husband of 60 years, Robert A. Farrar Sr.; a son, Robert A. Farrar Jr. of Thompson; two daughters, Carol Farrar and Beverly Farrar, both of Worcester; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many grandnephews and grandnieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Pearly and Stacia (Lamanski) Alexnader, and lived her entire life here. She attended Worcester Public Schools.

Mrs. Farrar worked for Moynihan Pharmacy on Vernon Hill for three years, a maternity shop in Worcester for two years, as a nurses' aide at memorial hospital for a year an a half and at Belmont Home for 10 years, and at Worcester Tire Fabric for a year. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church and the Ladies Auxiliary Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4

The funeral will be held Tuesday, August 8, from the Nordgren Carrigan Mangson Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, August 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 40 Speen St., Framingham Ma, 01701.
