Stanley J. Filgerleski

GRAFTON -- Stanley J. Filgerleski, 73, of 14 Rose Lane, North Grafton, a retired foreman, died Sunday, Aug. 6, at home after a five-year struggle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Dorothy E. (Walsh) Filgerleski; a daughter, Darlene K. DeCaire of Worcester; two sons, Mark W. Filgerleski of Gilbertville and Michael J. Filgerleski of Worcester; a sister, Celia Dickman of Worcester; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Carl Jasiak of Morningdale and Chester Jasiak of Holden, and a sister, Katherine LeBlanc of Holden, died before him. He was born and raised in Holden, son of Stanislaw and Katrazina (Dombrowa) Filgerleski, and lived in Worcester for several years. He lived in Grafton for 41 years. He graduated from Holden High School in 1945.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Filgerleski was a foreman at Norton Co. Plant 8 in Worcester for 34 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Norton Retirees and Delisle-Goulet Post 92 American Legion. He was a ward representative for Congressman James P. McGovern of Worcester, and was active in Democratic Party affairs for many years.
The graveside service, with military honors, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Worcester VNA Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608. Robert C. Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, is directing arrangements.
Robert R. Finne, 68

WORCESTER -- Robert R. Finne, 68, of 20 Fremont St., a retired claims adjuster, died Saturday, Aug. 5, in University Commons after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Ann M. (Occhialini) Finne; a son, Robert R. Finne of Worcester; three daughters, Karen A. Fay, Kristen M. Finne-Gregoire and Anne Marie Finne, all of Worcester; and 13 grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of Ralph R. and Frances (Moller) Finne, and graduated from South High School and Worcester Junior College. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Finne was a claims administrator for Hanover and Aetna insurance companies, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the English Social Club. He was also a Little League coach for Maranville, and had also been an umpire. He was formerly a minor-league catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He enjoyed golfing.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8, from O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding St. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, in the funeral home. Please omit flowers.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Loretta E. (Henry) Fitzgerald, 74, of New Albany, formerly of Worcester, Mass., died Thursday, Aug. 10, in Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville, Ky.
Her husband, John E. Fitzgerald, died before her. She leaves five sons, John E. Fitzgerald of Los Angeles, Paul J. Fitzgerald of Indianapolis, James B., Thomas M. and Brian W. Fitzgerald, all of New Albany; two daughters, Ann M. Fitzgerald of Atlanta and Mary Ellen Blancato of New Albany; a brother, Walter Henry Jr. of Worcester; three sisters, Anne Lynch of Worcester, Jane Colby of Nashua, N.H., and Theresa Whouley of Billerica, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was born in Worcester.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Hobart Beach Post 1693 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, and the National Audubon Society.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. PALM BAY, Fla. -- Robert E. Garry Sr., 69, of Palm Bay, formerly of Worcester, Mass., died July 31 in Palm Bay after a long illness.
He leaves a son, Robert E. Garry Jr. of Palm Bay; two daughters, Denise Blanchard of Narragansett, R.I., and Lorna Law of Webster, Mass.; his mother, Irene (Beland) Garry of Worcester; three brothers, Richard Garry of Colorado, Norman Garry of Worcester and Jerry Garry of Warren, Mass.; two sisters, Ellen Talbot of Ocala and Jean Kroll of Warren; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His father, Euclid Garry, died before him.
The private funeral service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Raymond R. Gongoleski, 84, of 78 Middle St., North Smithfield, a retired plant manager, died Monday, Aug. 7, in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
He leaves his wife, Wladyslawa (Ostrowski) Gongoleski; four sons, including Roman W. and Warren T. Gongoleski, both of Blackstone, Mass.; two daughters; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. A son and a sister died before him.
Mr. Gongoleski was plant manager at the former Honora Mills of Woonsocket.
He was a member of St. Paul's Church in Blackstone.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, in St. Paul's Church, St. Paul St., Blackstone. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in North Smithfield. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, in Curtis J. Holt's Sons Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.

UXBRIDGE -- Russell T. Goodrow, 54, of West Hartford Ave., a machine assembler, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, at home.
He leaves his wife of 16 years, Janet (Gervais) Goodrow; three sons, Thomas Goodrow of Worcester, Bryan Bernard of Uxbridge, and Scott Bernard of South Yarmouth; three daughters, Misty Woods of Auburn, Maine, Jill Rybicki of Spencer, and April Damraksa of Bethel, Conn.; his mother, Hazel (Harvey) Goodrow of Leicester; three brothers, Bernard Goodrow of Spencer, Kevin Goodrow of the Fiskdale section of Sturbridge; and Jeffrey Goodrow of the Cherry Valley section of Leicester; four sisters, Linda Gaudet, Elaine Edson, Beth-Ellen Oveka, and Lisa Skog, all of Leicester; nine grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A brother, Thomas Goodrow, died many years ago. He was born in Worcester, son of Bernard Goodrow, and lived in Leicester before moving to Uxbridge 19 years ago. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Goodrow was a machine assembler at the Reed/ ico company in Holden for 21 years.
The graveside service, with military honors, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Mendon Street. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, in the Buma Funeral Home, 101 North Main St., Route 122. HUDSON -- Rita (Rainha) Greenwood, 81, of Brigham Circle, died Friday, Aug. 11, in UMass Health System -- Marlboro Hospital.
Her husband, Noe Greenwood, died in 1990. She leaves nephews and nieces; and cousins. A daughter, Patricia Greenwood, died before her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Anthony and Angelina (Travers) Rainha.
Mrs. Greenwood was a member of the Holy Ghost Society.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16, from Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 21 Manning St. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the funeral home.

CLINTON -- Thomas F. Grivakis, 79, of 46 Beacon St., a weaver and employee of the Weetabix Co., died Sunday, August 6, in Clinton Hospital after being stricken ill.
He leaves his wife of 38 years, Vasiliki T. (Papada) Grivakis; two sons, Cpt. John T. Grivakis of Warner Robbins, Ga and Chris T. Grivakis of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Katherine A. Grivakis of Maynard and Ann V. Baird of Clinton; a brother, Demosthenis F. Grivakis of Makrisia, Greece; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A son, Franklin T. Grivakis, died in 1973. He was born in Clinton, son of Fotios and Ekaterine (Bertsos) Grivakis, and lived in Clinton most of his life.
Mr. Grivakis was a weaver in the former Wickwire Spencer Co. for 17 years. He later worked as a buffer at the former Ray-O-Vac Co. of Clinton for 18 years. He then worked at Weetabix of Clinton for 6 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Clinton Senior Citizens.
He was an avid walker.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, August 9, from the Robert J. McNally Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a service at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 132 School St. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. WORCESTER -- Queenie Hagopian,, of 962 Pleasant St., a retired state employee, died Sunday, Aug. 6, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 54 years, Edward W. Hagopian; a daughter, Lila L. Jankowski of Baldwinville; three sisters, Armen Khoshabjian of Woburn, Shake' Derderian of Leominster, and Louise Arslen of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. She was born in Olean, N.Y., daughter of James H. and Victoria (Mazgerdian) Donoian, and lived in Worcester most of her life. She graduated from the New England School of Accounting.
Mrs. Hagopian worked for the Massachusetts Division of Employment Security for 40 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1990. She was previously a civilian employee of the U.S. Air Force in Washington for several years.
She was a member of the Massachusetts Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association, and was a longtime member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour.
The funeral will be Wednesday, Aug. 9, from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., with a service at 11 a.m. in The Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. MARLBORO -- Natalie E. (Akroyd) Hamilton, 56, of 58 Walker St., a secretary, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, in Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, after a short illness.
She leaves her husband, Harold P. Hamilton; a son, Mark B. Cummings of Leominster; a daughter, Heather L. Morello of Worcester; her parents, Edward W. and Natalie E. (Thompson) Akroyd of Sturbridge; three stepdaughters, Kristin A. Gage of Laconia, N.H., Karin L. Crittenden of Dover, N.H., and Sara L. Hamilton of Hancock, N.H.; eight grandchildren. She was born in Marlboro.
Mrs. Hamilton was a secretary at the former GTE Corp. of Westboro for many years, and previously worked for the state division of employment security and the Massachusetts Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, in St. Ann's Church, 466 Lincoln St. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
