Saturday, February 3, 2001

WARREN -- The funeral for Helen K. (Malloy) Cronin, 95, of West Hartford, formerly of West Brookfield and Warren, will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, from Doherty Funeral Home, 40 Bacon St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, Main Street. Mrs. Cronin died Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Brookview Healthcare Facility, West Hartford. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. A calling hour is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in the funeral home.

Her husband, William Cronin, died in 1986. She leaves two daughters, Mary Miller of Phoenixville, Pa., and Anne Dubay of West Hartford; five grandsons; and five great-grandchildren. A brother, Edward Malloy, died in 1998. She was born in West Brookfield, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Turner) Malloy, and graduated from Warren High School in 1923 and Worcester Normal School in 1925.

Mrs. Cronin taught elementary school in New Braintree, Worcester, West Warren and Warren. She was a tax collector in West Brookfield from 1945 to 1950. She was a member of the Southern Worcester County Teachers Association, St. Paul's Church and its former Women's Club.

Donations may be made to St. Paul's Renovation Fund, Main Street; or to Sylvan B. Genthner Scholarship Fund, c/o Spencer Savings Bank, PO Box 849, both Warren, MA 01083.

Richard P. Currier, 69

Friday, February 2, 2001

HUDSON -- Richard P. Currier, 69, of 31 Green St., a Sergeant First Class in the Army, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Metro West Medical Center, Framingham.

He leaves his wife, Vickie (Schwarze) Currier; two sons, Richard Currier of Blackstone and James Leahy of Hudson; and a daughter, Faith Currier of Arizona; a sister, Elizabeth Bennett of California; and two grandchildren. He was born in Hudson, son of Donald and Evonne (Quintin) Currier.

Mr. Currier was in the Army for 20 years, serving in the American Division, retiring in 1971 as a Sergeant First Class. After retiring, he worked in security for Digital Co..

A memorial service will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., is directing arrangements.

John R. Dabrowski, 80

WEBSTER -- John R. Dabrowski, 80, of 7 Mill St., an World War II veteran and retired weaver, died Sunday, Feb. 4, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Helen A. (Kusiak) Dabrowski; a daughter, Julia Christian of Webster; a sister, Gladys Perzanski of Dudley; a grandson. A son, Joseph Dabrowski, died in 1996. He was born in Webster, son of Paul and Veronica (Kalemba) Dabrowski, and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.

Mr. Dabrowski was a weaver at Hayward Schuster Co. in Douglas, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of the Boosters Athletic Club and St. Joseph's Basilica.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7, from Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's School, Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570 or VNA Care Hospice Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.

Marguerite Dame, 80

FITCHBURG -- Marguerite (Saulnier) Dame, 80, of 162 North St., a retired electric company worker, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness.

She leaves her husband, Camille N. Dame; two sons, Ronald and Steven Dame, both of Fitchburg; a daughter, Marguerite Surette of Fitchburg; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Theresa Laplume, died in 1993. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Louis and Emilie (Porel) Saulnier, and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1938.

Mrs. Dame worked for Great American Plastic Co., Cell-U Plastic Co., and General Electric Co., retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Bernard's Church.

The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 9, from Aubuchon-Moorcroft Funeral Home, 132 Woodland St., with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 240 Water St. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in the funeral home.

Albert P. Dauderis, 83

WORCESTER -- Albert P. Dauderis, 83, of 5 Guisto St., a World War II veteran and a former custodian and electrician, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, at home after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Josephine L. (Guisto) Dauderis; a son, Albert P. Dauderis Jr. of Great Falls, Mont.; a brother, Walter J. Dauderis of Worcester; a sister, Julia A. Cooney of Fontana, Calif.; two grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Charles Dauderis, and two sisters, Josephine Bray and Ruth Allshouse, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Peter P. and Theodora (Beinor) Dauderis, and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a master sergeant in the South Pacific. He earned the Bronze Star.

Mr. Dauderis was a custodian for more than 10 years with the Worcester Public Schools Department, retiring in 1982. Previously, he was an electrician 32 years for U.S. Steel Co.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, United Steelworkers of America, and Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts.

The funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 29, from Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice Care Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.

Teria M. Davis, 40

Monday, February 5, 2001

ATHOL -- Teria M. Davis, 40, of 139 Summer St., died Saturday, Feb. 3, in Athol Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered when he was struck by a motor vehicle on School Street on Friday.

She leaves two sons, Joseph D. West and Nathaniel F. Knoebel, both of Athol; a daughter, Teria K. Knoebel of Athol; her mother, Gloria A. (Broome) Gilmore of Orange; two brothers, Kenyon D. Holstein of Gardner and James D. Bradford of St. Louis; her maternal grandmother, Teria C. Broome of Dunn, N.C.; several nephews and nieces. She was born in Dunn, daughter of Leo Holstein, and graduated from Dunn High School. She lived several years in Belleville, Ill., and moved to Athol in 1986.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening.

The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St. Burial will be private in Highland Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 350 South Hunnington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.

Lucille Davis, 67

LIBERTY, Maine -- Lucille (Cooley) Davis, 67, of Liberty, formerly of Petersham, Mass., a school cook, died Monday, Jan. 29, in Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor.

She leaves her husband of 47 years, Reginald L. Davis; a son, Lloyd Davis of Salt Lake City; a daughter, Betty-Lu Brown of Belfast; four brothers, Earl Cooley of Barre, Mass., Douglas Cooley of Easthampton, Mass., Dwight and Dickie Cooley, both of Petersham; three sisters, Louise Reed of Athol, Mass., Florance May of Barre and Sally Norcross of Ithaca, N.Y.; two grandchildren. A sister, Betty Cooley, and a brother, Dorrance Cooley, predeceased her. She was born in Dana, Mass., daughter of Leslie and Jennie Belle (Ryder) Cooley, and lived in Petersham before moving to Maine.

Mrs. Davis was a cook at Pierce School, Belfast.

At her request, no funeral service is planned.

Marguerite de Blois, 88

MONTREAL -- Marguerite A. (Paradis) de Blois, 88, of Montreal, formerly of 28 Breeze Dr., Worcester, died Monday, Feb. 5, in Montreal. Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., Worcester, is directing arrangements, which are incomplete.

Helen R. DeMarco, 86

WEST BOYLSTON -- Helen R. (Pelley) DeMarco, 86, of 328 Maple St., died Sunday, Feb. 4, at home after an illness.

Her husband, Joseph F. DeMarco, died in 1959. She leaves a daughter, Helen E. DeMarco and a sister, Ethel-Mary Pelley, both of West Boylston, with whom she lived; several nephews and nieces. A sister, Elizabeth V. Johnson of Northboro, died in 1990. She was born in Southbridge, daughter of Raymond R. and Julianna M. (Gaudette) Pelley. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester.

Mrs. DeMarco worked for the Worcester County National Bank, Worcester, for many years, retiring several years ago.

She was a member of the Women's Club of West Boylston and Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and its Women's Club.

The funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Burial will be in the spring in Mount Vernon Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Gary W. Diadone, 63

ASHBY -- Gary W. Diadone, 63, formerly of Wares Road and Taft Street, Ayer, a project manager and a Navy veteran, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Mariner Health Care Center, Fitchburg.

He leaves two sons, Jeffrey and Terry Diadone, both of Woodland, Maine; a brother, Richard Diadone of Woodland; and two grandchildren. Born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, son of Joseph H. and Pauline D. (Lee) Diadone, he lived many years in Ayer before moving to Ashby 10 years ago. In the late 1950s, he served in the Navy.

Mr. Diadone was a project manager for the Massachusetts Manufacturing Partnership in Worcester. Previously, he worked at Stone & Webster Engineering Co. in Boston. He was a member of the Ayer Gun and Sportsman's Club and, because of his career, traveled throughout the country and the world.

The funeral service will be private. Spring burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. There are no calling hours. T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend, is directing arrangements.

Mary A. Dignam, 78

LEOMINSTER -- Mary A. (Flaherty) Dignam, 78, of 36 Stephens Road, a former telephone operator, died Monday, Feb. 5, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after a long illness.

She leaves her husband of 54 years, Francis J. Dignam; two sons, John F. Dignam of Putnam and James P. Dignam of Cohasset; three daughters, Kathleen A. Libby and Roberta M. Fiore, both of Fitchburg, and Eileen C. Marden of Shrewsbury; three brothers, Paul Flaherty of West Yarmouth, John Flaherty of Reading, and the Rev. Frederick Flaherty, with the Lassalette Missionaries in Hartford; a sister, Elizabeth McMullen of East Brunswick, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Timothy J. and Agnes G. (Serguson) Flaherty, and graduated from St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School, Fitchburg, in 1940.

Mrs. Dignam was a telephone operator for New England Telephone Co., Fitchburg.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 8, from Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at noon in St. Bernard's Church, 240 Water St., Fitchburg. Her brother, the Rev. Frederick Flaherty, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent, or memorial donations made to Alzheimer's Association of Eastern Massachusetts, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140; or may be left at the funeral home.

Henry A. Diguette, 93

WORCESTER -- Henry A. Diguette, 93, formerly of 39 First St., a retired textile worker, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Sunbridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Home, Millbury, after an illness.

His wife, Lillian (Fullam) Diguette, died in 1977. He leaves a son, Robert H. Diguette of Florida; two daughters, Jane S. Penttila of Holden and Mary R. Veilleux of Nashua, N.H.; a brother, Anthony Diguette of Florida; a sister, Madeleine Liberty of Florida; 13 grandchildren, including David M. Penttila of Spencer, who was her caretaker; 13 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Webster, son of Arthur and Ann (Cragen) Diguette, and lived most of his life in Worcester.

Mr. Diguette was a textile worker 30 years for Bell Co., retiring in 1972.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 1, from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle St. After cremation, burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity.

Cecile L. Roughan Dion

WORCESTER -- Cecile L. (Faford) Roughan Dion, 84, of 10 Cuba Road, died Saturday, Jan. 27, in Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital.

Her husband of 33 years, George J. Dion, died in 1991. She leaves a son, George E. Dion of Oxford; two daughters, Lorraine A. Carlson of Hyannis and Joyce M. O'Keefe of Oxford; a brother, Normand Faford of Barre; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her first husband, Thomas Roughan, died in 1956. Two brothers, Arthur H. and Alfred Faford, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Henri and Grace (Lapointe) Faford.

Mrs. Dion worked in the maintenance department of Quinsigamond Community College many years ago.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and the Emblem Club.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 30, from Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave., with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Our Lady of the Angels Mortgage Fund, 1222 Main St., Worcester, MA 01603.
