Clarence C. Frost, 84

TOWNSEND -- Clarence C. “Jack” Frost, 84, formerly of 14 Barker Hill Road, a World War II veteran and retired flame hardener, died Tuesday, April 2, in Mariner Health Care in Fitchburg.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Elsie E. (Thompson) Frost; a brother, James Frost of Tilton, N.H.; two sisters, Gertrude L. Batchelder of Milford, N.H. and Mildred E. Davis of Brookline, N.H.; several nephews and nieces. Four brothers, Ralph Frost of Greenville, N.H., Ronald Frost of New Ipswich, N.H., Arnold Frost of Nashua, N.H., and Donald Frost of Arizona, predeceased him. He was born in Lincoln, son of Clarence G. and Martha (Byam) Frost, and lived nearly 50 years in Townsend. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Frost was a flame hardener 20 years at Simonds Saw and Steel Co. in Fitchburg, retiring in 1979. He previously worked for R.L. Robichaud Excavating Co. and the former Fessenden Barrel Co.

He was an accomplished boxer, and in 1937 he won the Boston Globe Golden Glove of New England Championship at the Boston Garden. He also boxed with success while serving in the Army.

He was a member of the Townsend Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Simonds Recreation Club, and the Simonds Veterans Club.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, in T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, in the funeral home.

TOWNSEND -- Elsie E. (Thompson) Frost, 89, formerly of 14 Barker Hill Road, died Saturday, April 7, in Mariner Health Care Center, Fitchburg.

Her husband of 57 years, Clarence C. “Jack” Frost, died Monday, April 2. She leaves two sisters, Henrietta P.T. Labby of New Britain, Conn., and Carrie Morrow of Highland Springs, Va.; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Russell Thompson of Virginia and Lee Thompson of Nashua, N.H., and three sisters, Thelma Pulley and Velma Wiseman, both of Virginia, and Helen Johnson of Loveland, Colo., predeceased her. She was born in Letart Falls, Iowa, daughter of Samuel and Fayetta (Brown) Thompson, and lived more than 50 years in Townsend.

Mrs. Frost enjoyed fishing, antiques and travel.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, in T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. A calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the funeral home.

Robert L. Fuller, 87

WESTBURY, N.Y. -- Robert L. Fuller, 87, of Westbury, formerly of Worcester, Mass., and Spencer, Mass., a meteorologist, died Tuesday, April 3, at home.

His wife, Eleanor Fuller, predeceased him. He leaves a son, Robert H. Fuller of Westbury; three daughters, Pamela DeBoise of Aurora, Ill., Melanie Schluter of Baldwin, and Donna Paladino of West Islip; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Fuller was a meteorologist 39 years for American Airlines. He was active in Westbury United Methodist Church.

The funeral was held in Westbury. Burial of the ashes will be at noon Saturday, April 7, in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, 290 Post Ave., directed arrangements.

Rose Gerrol, 82

WORCESTER -- Rose Gerrol, 82, of 18 Brookside Ave., died Friday, April 6, at home after being stricken ill.

She leaves three sisters, Frances Levy of Bloomfield, Conn., Lillian Farber and Ida Opert, both of Florida; nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. Four brothers, Israel, Hyman, David and Frank Gerrol, and three sisters, Betty Taffet, Edith Cooper and Bertha Botuck, all of Worcester, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Nathan and Sarah Gerrol, and graduated from Commerce High School.

Miss Gerrol worked for Melvin's Five and Ten Store and later for Shack's Clothing, retiring about 15 years ago. She was a member of Beth Israel Synagogue.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St. Burial will be in Worcester Hebrew Cemetery, Auburn. Memorial donations may be made to Solomon Schechter Day School, Jamesbury Drive, Worcester, MA 01609.

Nancy Goff, 57

SUTTON -- Nancy (Gore) Goff, 57, of 9A Miller's Way, formerly of Worcester, Paxton and Shrewsbury, died Friday, April 6, at home after being stricken ill.

Her husband, Allan S. Goff, died in 1995. She leaves her fiance, Gary Mathieu of Sutton; two sons, Michael S. Goff of Holliston and Douglas A. Goff of New Orleans; a daughter, Allison L. Sharpe of Westford; her mother, Charlotte Gore Levenson of Boston; two brothers, Dr. Joel Gore of Shrewsbury and Lester Gore of Newton; and two grandsons. She was born in Boston, daughter of Max Gore, and lived eight years in Worcester, 25 years in Paxton, and five years in Shrewsbury before moving to Sutton three months ago. She graduated from Brookline High School and Lesley College in Cambridge.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be in B'nai B'rith Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial observance will be held through Monday evening, April 9, at the residence of Dr. and Mrs. Joel Gore, 9 Horseneck Road, Shrewsbury, and Tuesday, April 10, through Wednesday evening, April 11, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Goff, 5 Morgans Way, Holliston. Memorial donations may be made to Allan S. Goff Learning Center, University of Massachusetts Medical School, c/o Development Office, 55 North Lake Ave., Worcester, MA 01655.

Olivia T. Goguen, 83

LEOMINSTER -- Olivia T. (Bianco) Goguen, 83, of 1160 Main St., died Friday, April 6, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness.

Her husband, Patrick Goguen, predeceased her. She leaves a son, Robert Seibel of Melbourne, Fla.; three daughters, Nancy Colbert of Jamaica Plain, Barbara Apprille of Brookline, N.H., and Margaret Larson of Dover, N.H.; and 12 grandchildren. She was born in Boston, daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Guy) Bianco, and lived many years in Leominster.

Mrs. Goguen was a member of St. Leo's Church.

The memorial Mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 9, in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main St. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. M.A. Simard & Son Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., is directing arrangements.

Sophie D. Golas, 93

LEOMINSTER -- Sophie D. (Rutkowski) Golas, 93, formerly of 161 Spruce St., died Monday, April 9, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness.

Her husband, Peter J. Golas, died in 1986. She leaves a son, Peter R. Golas of Leominster; four daughters, Elizabeth Seward of San Jose, Calif., Sabina Bosselman-Hansbury of Chelmsford, and Evelyn Lister and Mary Walsh, both of Leesburg, Fla.; a brother, W. Edward Rutkowski of Palmer; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; nephews and nieces. A brother and six sisters predeceased her. She was born in Poland, daughter of Walter and Sabina (Sawicki) Rutkowski, and lived several years in Leominster. She attended schools in Palmer.

Mrs. Golas was an assembler at Converter Corp. before her retirement. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Parish, the Polish Women's Alliance of Clinton and the Leominster Senior Citizens, and was a former member of Holy Family of the Nazareth Church. She enjoyed knitting.

The funeral will be Thursday, April 12, from Curley-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 89 West St., with a Liturgy of the Word at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Bernard S. Goldman, 57

LEOMINSTER -- Bernard S. Goldman, 57, of 122 Water St., a controller, died Tuesday, April 10, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester.

He leaves a son, Joshua Bryant of Boylston; a brother, Carl Goldman in Florida; two sisters, Bettijane Robinson of Walpole and Janet Scope of West Roxbury; and several nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Boston, son of Robert and Rachel (Ehrlich) Goldman, and lived seven years in Maynard, nine years in Westboro and four years in Leominster. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1967 and from Bentley College in 1973.

For many years he was a controller for Cider Mill Farms, and most recently worked for Joslin Displays in Medford. He was also a self-employed tax preparer.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in Congregation Agudat Achim, 268 Washington St. Burial will be in Holy Society Cemetery, Leicester. Memorial observance will be held through Thursday, April 12, at the residence of Joshua Bryant, 115 Shrewsbury St., Boylston. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Agudat Achim, 268 Washington St., Leominster, MA 01453; or to the American Diabetes Association, Mass. Affiliate, 1 Bromfield St., Boston, 02108. Alice M. Goldrick, 84

TOWNSEND -- Alice M. (Mulligan) Goldrick, 84, of 204 Lunenburg Road, died Thursday, April 5, in the Apple Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Ayer.

Her husband, Thomas J. Goldrick, died in 1985. She leaves a son, Thomas A. Goldrick of Essex Junction, Vt.; a daughter, Eileen M. Barnacoat of Townsend; a brother, John Mulligan of Long Island, N.Y.; three sisters, Virginia Hertlting and Eleanor Mulligan, both of Long Island, N.Y., and Dorothy Henrikson of Kingston, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. Born in New York City, daughter of John N. and Margaret M. (Cummings) Mulligan, she lived in Watertown before moving 23 years ago to Townsend.

Mrs. Goldrick was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. She also belonged to the Townsend Senior Citizens.

The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, in St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School St. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, West Townsend. Calling hours are from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 8, in the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St. Memorial donations may be made to the Pemphigus Foundation, PO Box 192, Brookline, MA 02246.

Otis A. Goodrich, 75

STURBRIDGE -- Otis A. Goodrich, 75, of Library Lane, a veteran of World War II and operator of Goodrich Construction, died Sunday, April 1, in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Mary J. (Roberts) Goodrich; a son, Charles C. Goodrich of Pomfret, Conn.; three daughters, Ann Lewis of Worcester, Sandra J. McCarron of Amesbury and Marye E. McKenney of Lancaster; a brother, Ruel D. Goodrich of Exeter, N.H.; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Epping, N.H., son of Chester and Doris (Andrews) Goodrich and lived in Sturbridge for 40 years. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire and attended Nichols College. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the 103rd Medic Hospital. He held a Massachusetts Real Estate License.

Mr. Goodrich ran Goodrich Construction and was also a partner with the Walker Pond Corp. He was a security guard at Old Sturbridge Village retiring after 18 years. He was an auxiliary police officer for 23 years. He was a member of the Sturbridge Federated Church, the Sturbridge Republican Town Committee, the Epping Masonic Lodge and the Shriner's of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He enjoyed gardening and once did leaded glass.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in the Sturbridge Federated Church, Maple Street and Rt. 131. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Otis A. Goodrich Memorial Fund c/o Savers Bank, 55 Main St., Sturbridge, MA 01566. The Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 March St., is directing arrangements.

Edward E. Gravel, 95

MILLBURY -- Edward E. Gravel, 95, formerly of West Main Street, a retired typesetter and business owner, died Thursday, April 5, in The Meadows of Leicester, after an illness.

His wife of 59 years, Rachel M. (Desrochers) Gravel, died in 1994. He leaves a son, Robert E. Gravel of Sutton; a daughter, Leane E. Pease of Millbury; seven grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; and nephews and nieces. Born in East Broughton, Quebec, son of Joseph and Claire (Gregoire) Gravel, he was raised in Manchester, N.H. He then lived 35 years in Worcester, 27 years in Millbury and three years in Auburn before moving last year to Leicester. He graduated from Wentworth Institute, Boston, in 1929.

Mr. Gravel was a typesetter who owned and operated Worcester Typographic Service, Inc., Worcester, for 30 years before retiring in 1973.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish, the Greendale Retired Men's Club, Worcester, and the Worcester County Club of Printing House Craftsmen.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, in Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 10 Waters St. Burial will be in Notre Dame des Canadiens Mausoleum, Worcester. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Nella Grigaitis

SOUTHBORO -- Nella (Suslavich) Grigaitis, of Southboro and South Yarmouth, died Sunday, April 8, in Marlboro Hospital.

Her husband, Joseph Grigaitis, predeceased her. She leaves a daughter, Susan Starr of Southboro; a brother, John Suslavich of Paxton, Ill.; two grandchildren, Michael Starr of Newton and Elizabeth Starr of Hanover, N.H. A brother, Frank Suslavich, predeceased her. She was born in Hudson, daughter of Andrew and Eva (Stakalunis) Suslavich. She lived many years in Hudson, and moved to South Yarmouth 20 years ago.

Mrs. Grigaitis was a member of St. Pius X Church in Yarmouth, the South Yarmouth Citizen's Club, and the Worcester Area Club of Cape Cod. She was a former member of the Hudson Women's Club.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, in St. Matthew's Church, 18 Highland St. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St.

Eunice D. Hacker, 85

WORCESTER -- Eunice D. (Smith) Hacker, 85, of 50 Shrewsbury St., died Friday, April 6, in Shrewsbury Nursing Home after an illness. Arthur S. Manzi & Son Funeral Home and Garden Chapel, 179 Shrewsbury St., is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.
