Carl G. Holm, 92

Wednesday, April 11, 2001

SUTTON -- Carl G. Holm, 92, of 65 Mendon Road, a farmer, died Monday, April 9, in Hubbard Regional Hospital, Webster.

His wife of 58 years, Ada G. (Kemp) Holm, died in 1996. He leaves two sons, Timothy C. Holm of Sutton and Carl D. Holm of Uxbridge; a sister, Betty Nelson of Princeton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Charles H. and Anna E. (Nyquist) Holm, and lived in Worcester before moving to Sutton 65 years ago. He graduated from North High School, Worcester, in 1927, and from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1931.

Mr. Holm ran a poultry farm for 59 years, and was still active as an agricultural farmer. He was a member of West Sutton First Baptist Church and the Alpha Gamma Roe fraternity at UMass.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in West Sutton First Baptist Church, Central Turnpike. Burial will be in West Sutton Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 13, in Lindquist-Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St., Worcester. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Sutton First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Central Turnpike, Sutton, MA 01590.

Mabel R. Howarth, 87

WEST BOYLSTON -- Mabel R. (Burton) Howarth, 87, of 76 North Main St., Oakdale, a retired business owner, died Saturday, March 31, in Oakdale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a long illness.

Her husband, Walter F. Howarth, died in 1981. She leaves a son, Ronald R. Howarth of Worcester and Boylston; a daughter, Susan M. Faford of West Boylston; two sisters, Jane R. Burton of Worcester and Cecelia Threadgould of Boylston; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in Clinton, daughter of Alphege and Mary (Mercier) Burton, and lived many years in Boylston before moving to West Boylston seven years ago.

Mrs. Howarth owned and operated Childland in the former Lincoln Plaza in Worcester, retiring in 1975. She was previously a salesperson at Boston Baby Carriage in Worcester.

She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, and was a former member of St. Mary of the Hills Church, Boylston.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 4, from Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., Route 140. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the funeral home.

Frank Inzerillo, 85

BARRE -- Frank Inzerillo, 85, formerly of Barre, died Monday, April 9, in Christopher House in Worcester.

His wife, Ida (Coppolino) Inzerillo, died in 1997. He leaves a son, Salvatore F. Inzerillo of Worcester; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nephews. He was born in Boston, son of Salvatore and Francesca (Mangano) Inzerillo, and graduated from Charleston High School. He moved to Barre in 1937.

Mr. Inzerillo worked 25 years for Barre Wool Combing Co., and also worked at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of Sons of Italy and Electrical Union Local 96.

The funeral service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, from Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 South Barre Road, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 29 South St. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Christopher B. Ivey, 26

MARLBORO -- Christopher B. Ivey, 26, of 460 South St. Ext., owner of a business in Northboro, died Monday, April 9, at his home, after being stricken ill.

He leaves his parents, Richard L. Ivey of Northboro and Mary Lou (Furlong) Ivey of Plymouth; a sister, Deborah L. Nowak of Southboro; a nephew; and a close companion, Sara Gifford of Marlboro. He was born in Waltham, and graduated from Hudson Catholic High School in 1993, where he played football and basketball. He earned a criminal justice degree from Westfield State College in 1998.

Mr. Ivey owned and operated Honey Dew Donuts in Northboro for the past year and a half. He was a former member of the deputy sheriff's department in Middlesex County. He enjoyed golfing, and was a member of White Cliffs Country Club in Plymouth.

The funeral will be held Friday, April 13, from John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., with a Liturgy of the Word at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions may be made to the Christopher B. Ivey Scholarship Fund, c/o Citizens Scholarship Fund of Marlboro, PO Box 296, Marlboro, MA 01752.

James H. Jamieson, 70

GRAFTON -- James H. Jamieson, 70, of 159 Providence Road, a former supervisor, died Saturday, April 7, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Norma R. (Wawrzyniak) Jamieson; a son, Richard J. Jamieson of West Ossipee, N.H.; a daughter, Kristina J. Pombo of Grafton; his mother, Loretta (Dellaire) Jamieson of the Cherry Valley section of Leicester; a brother, Merlin Jamieson of Auburn; a sister, Sandra Hidenfelter of Cherry Valley; five grandchildren; a nephew and several nieces. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of Merlin Jamieson, and moved to Grafton in 1986. He graduated from South High School, Worcester, where he was an All City athlete and Telegram & Gazette All Star in baseball and football. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and played for the Navy Special Forces baseball team.

Mr. Jamieson was a supervisor 20 years at John Bath Co., Worcester. He was also night supervisor of receiving at Iandoli's Market Warehouse, Worcester, before becoming disabled many years ago.

He was a member of St. Philip's Church, Greendale Retired Men's Club, and the Froshin Club. He was a member and former president of Worcester Surfcasting Club, a former officer of John Bath Co. Credit Union and a former coach in the Maranville Little League, Worcester.

The funeral Mass, with military honors, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 9, in St. Philip's Church, Church and West streets. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, PO Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103; or to Make a Wish Foundation, 295 Devonshire St., Boston, MA 02110. Robert C. Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, is directing arrangements.

Albert C. Jandris, 75

GARDNER -- Albert C. Jandris, 75, of 239 High St., a World War II veteran and local business owner, died Tuesday, April 10, in Heywood Hospital from injuries suffered in an accident at his place of work.

He leaves his wife of 32 years, Margaret C. (MacDonald) Morse Jandris; a son, Dana D. Morse of Gardner; two daughters, Marsha J. (Morse) LaCroix of Hubbardston and Heidi R. Jandris of Jamaica Plains; two brothers, Joseph A. Jandris and Edward P. Jandris, both of Gardner; a sister, Amalia R. Jandris of Gardner; four grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. He was born in Gardner, son of Adolf and Rosa (Artinger) Jandris. He graduated from Gardner High School in 1943.

He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.

Mr. Jandris was part owner-operator and president of A. Jandris & Sons Inc., a leading local architectural concrete producer. In 1975, he designed and built a block grinding facility, and for the past three years he was designing and constructing a new block-producing plant.

He was active in local politics. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church, American Legion Post 129, and Local 3 Bricklayer's Union of Lowell.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 14, from Boucher Funeral Home Inc., 110 Nichols St., with a Liturgy of the Word Service at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Citizens for Limited Taxation, PI Box 408, Peabody, MA 01960 or Montachusett Technical School Masonry Program, c/o A. Jandris & Sons Inc., 202 High St., Gardner, MA 01440.

Kyle D. Jewell, 35

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Kyle D. Jewell, 35, of Washington, formerly of Rotterdam, N.Y., and Shrewsbury, Mass., died Sunday, April 1, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on the New Jersey Turnpike.

He leaves his mother, Terri (Pietro) Jewell of Ballston Lake; his father, Perry Jewell of Pittsfield and Lunenburg, Mass.; a brother, Gavin Jewell of Chicago; and a sister, Jennifer Jewell of San Francisco. He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and graduated from Shrewsbury High School. He served six years in the Massachusetts Air National Guard. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and received a master's degree from the University of Lowell. He graduated from City University of New York Law School, Queens.

Most recently, he was a national and Florida Democratic Party campaign coordinator in Palm Beach and Broward counties. He previously was a clerk for the supreme court of South Africa, and was a public guardian in Cook County, Ill. He was a member of the Illinois Bar.

He coached basketball and football in Shrewsbury.

The memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, April 7, in Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Calling hours are 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 7, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Children's Defense Fund, 25 East St., NW, Washington, DC 20001.
Catherine Johnson, 88

WORCESTER -- Catherine C. Johnson, 88, of Country Club Boulevard, died Thursday, April 5, in St. Francis Home after an illness. Funeral arrangements, under the direction of Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., are incomplete.

Asaline T. Kalil, 87

WORCESTER -- Asaline T. Kalil, 87, of 269 Fairmont Ave., a retired bookkeeper, died Saturday, April 7, at home.

She leaves a brother, Peter Kalil of Flat Rock, N.C.; nieces and nephews. A brother, George Kalil, died in 1991; and another brother, Eli Kalil, died in 1972. A sister, Evelyn Mitchell, died in 1998; another sister, Louise E. Kalil, died in 1996; another sister, Irma M. Kalil, died in 1994; and another sister, Minnie Hyder, died in 1993. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Issa and Telgie (Nimee) Kalil, and graduated from Commerce High School in 1932.

Ms. Kalil was a bookkeeper for Astra Pharmaceutical Co., retiring in 1979. She previously was a bookkeeper for Central Oil Co. She was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, its Women's Club, the Business and Professional Women's Club, and the Green Mountain Club. She volunteered 48 years for the American Red Cross.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 9, in Nordgren, Carrigan, Mangsen Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the cathedral. A Trisagion service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 9, in the funeral home. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to St. George Orthodox Cathedral Memorial Fund, 30 Anna St., Worcester, MA 01604.

Lenox Karner III, 65

LITTLETON -- Lenox “Sandy” Karner III, 65, of 15 Fort Pond Hill Road, died Wednesday, March 28, in Boston Medical Center, Boston, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife, Jo (Kennedy) Karner of Littleton; three sons, Charles Karner of Baltimore, Bruce Karner of Severna Park, Md., and Alan Karner of Franklin; a daughter, Sandra Karner of Silver Springs, Md.; his mother, Abigail (Flagg) Karner of Fort Meyers, Fla.; a brother, Charles Karner of Tewksbury; two sisters, Barbara Karner and Mary Beth DeRoche, both of Tewksbury; and five grandchildren. He was born in Marlboro, son of Lenox Karner Jr.

Mr. Karner worked in consumer finance for Peoples Finance, then Beneficial Finance, Webster, for many years, retiring in 1978.

The memorial service was held Saturday, March 31, in Littleton. Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., directed arrangements.

Gertrude L. Kehoe, 85

SHREWSBURY -- Gertrude L. (Heath) Kehoe, 85, of 22 Raymond Ave., died Wednesday, April 11, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester, after being stricken ill at home. Funeral arrangements by Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., are incomplete.

Robert W. Koski, 86

HOLDEN -- Robert W. Koski, 86, of 68 Reservoir St., a World War II veteran and a former electrician, died Wednesday, April 4, in Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, Worcester.

He leaves his wife, Lillian Ann (Bartz) Koski; three daughters, Sharon Bennett of Natick, Mia Schultz of Walpole and Robyn Anderson of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a sister, Virginia Sodano of Manchester, Conn.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of William J. and Fannie M. (Wuorisalo) Koski. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Koski was an electrician at U.S. Steel. He was past president of the Refrigeration Society, and was a musician with local bands.

Mr. Koski donated his body to Tufts University Medical Hospital. The memorial service will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, 189 May St., Worcester, MA 01602.

Benjamin J. Kristo, 84

WORCESTER -- Benjamin J. Kristo, 84, of 11 Thistle Lane, a retired machinist, died Monday, April 2, in the Life Care Center of Auburn, after an illness.

His wife, Eleanor E. (Kersis) Kristo, died in 1953. He leaves four brothers, Joseph A. Kristo of Auburn, Paul P. Kristo of Worcester, Anthony G. Kristo of Seattle and John Kristo of Charlton; three sisters, Victoria A. Daniel of Worcester, Dorothy H. Komosky of Cherry Valley and Helen D. Faucher of Paxton; and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Adam J. and Victoria (Bobel) Kristopovich. He was a graduate of South High School.

Mr. Kristo was a machinist for U.S. Steel for many years, retiring several years ago. He was active with the Bancroft Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons, and served on its board of directors.

The funeral will be held Friday, April 6, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 9 Hammond St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June St., Worcester, MA 01602.
