Rita S. Macuga, 83

SOUTHBRIDGE -- Rita S. (Cadrant) Macuga, 83, of 73 Forest Ave., a retired optical company worker, died Thursday, March 29, in Harrington Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Her husband, Joseph A. Macuga, died in 1989. She leaves a son, James M. Macuga of Southbridge; a daughter, Carol LaVallee of Southbridge; a sister, Dorothy M. Burzycki of Southbridge; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; nephews and nieces. A son, David A. Macuga of Southbridge, died last year. She was born in Southbridge, daughter of Joseph and Alma (Dionne) Cadrant.

Mrs. Macuga worked 40 years for American Optical Co. before retiring and was a member of American Optical Co.'s Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Notre Dame Parish. She enjoyed traveling, knitting and flower gardening.

The funeral was held Monday, April 2. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Eucharistic Ministry of Notre Dame Parish, 61 Marcy St.; or to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Fred Ballard, Notre Dame Rectory, 61 Marcy St., both Southbridge, MA 01550. Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., directed arrangements.

Urho E. Maki, 82

LUNENBURG -- Urho E. Maki, 82, of 242 Sunset Lane, formerly of Fitchburg, a retired papermaker, died Thursday, April 5, in Fairlawn Nursing Home, Leominster, after a short illness.

His wife, Bernice L. (Hier) Maki, died Jan. 18. He leaves two sons, Earl H. Maki of Bonduel, Wis., and Bruce W. Maki of Fitchburg; a daughter, Diane E. Anderson of Fitchburg; a brother, Olavi Maki of Fitchburg; a sister, Mildred Konstenius of Fitchburg; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Emil H. and Mandi (Ruusukallio) Maki, and lived there most of his life before moving to Lunenburg in 1985.

Mr. Maki was a papermaker more than 20 years at Fitchburg Paper Co., retiring in 1981. Previously, he worked for Bostonaine Railroad Co., Fitchburg. He was a member of Twin City Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, in Twin City Baptist Church, 194 Electric Ave. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg. A calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701; or to American Diabetes Society, 1 Bromfield St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02108. The Lunenburg Chapel of Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Massachusetts Ave., is directing arrangements.

Carl C. Marrone, 82

LAS VEGAS -- Carl C. Marrone, 82, of Las Vegas, formerly of Leominster, Mass., died Feb. 27 in Las Vegas after an illness. Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster, is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.

Joan McDonough, 73

WORCESTER -- Joan K. (Jackman) McDonough, 73, of 16 Ashland St., died Wednesday, April 4, in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Westboro, after an illness.

Her husband, Thomas J. McDonough, died in 1951. She leaves a son, John McDonough of Worcester; a brother, Arthur F. Jackman of Conway, N.H.; several nephews and nieces. A brother, John P. Jackman Jr., and a sister, Barbara E. O'Grady, predeceased her. She was born in Uxbridge, daughter of John P. Jackman Sr. and Catherine (Powers) Jackman, and graduated from Uxbridge High School. She lived 43 years in Worcester.

Mrs. McDonough worked 35 years for Apex Answering Service, retiring in 1990.

The funeral Mass will be private, and private burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitinsville. There are no calling hours. Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Lodge, 7 Oak St., Worcester, MA 01609.

Jesse V. McKee, 76

AUBURN -- Jesse V. McKee, 76, of 11 Sword St., died Saturday, March 31, at home after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 25 years, Judith (Moran) McKee; a son, Jesse V. McKee Jr. of Shrewsbury; two stepsons, Stephen Culhane of Auburn and Timothy Culhane of Rutland; three daughters, Sandra Perna and Anne McKee, both of Shrewsbury, and Linda Donald of Augusta, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Susan Malvey and Cheryl Lancaster, both of Auburn; a brother, Troy McKee of Mineral Wells, Texas; a sister, Zula Morris of Mineral Wells; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. His first wife, Beatrice McKee, died in 1975. He was born in Mineral Wells, son of Lee and Lillie (Bailey) McKee. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and later served in the Air Force. He lived several years in Auburn.

Mr. McKee was a wire extruder 10 years for General Wire Co. in Worcester, and also worked for Mercury Wire Co. in Spencer.

He was an avid fisherman.

After cremation, a private memorial serivce will be held in Bethel Lutheran Church. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMass Memorial Home Care, 43 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01609. Graham, Putnam, Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St., is directing arrangements.

WEBSTER -- Victoria (Gwozdz) McLaughlin, 83, of 29 Morris St., died Tuesday, June 5, in Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street, is directing funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.

Rita N. McNally, 86

CLINTON -- Rita N. (O'Toole) McNally, 86, of 115 Beacon St., died Tuesday, April 10, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

Her husband, James E. McNally, died in 1977. She leaves a daughter, Phyllis A. McNally, with whom she lived; a sister, Mary A. O'Toole of Clinton; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, Michael A. McNally, died in 1994. Another son, James E. McNally, died last year. She was born in Clinton, daughter of Austin M. and Mary A. (McGrail) O'Toole, and graduated from Clinton High School in 1932.

Mrs. McNally was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.

The funeral will be held Saturday, April 14, from Robert J. McNally Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Liturgy of the Word at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. A calling hour is 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in the funeral home.

John G. Meskus, 66

HARRISVILLE, Mich. -- John G. Meskus, 66, of Harrisville, died March 12 in Northside Hospital and Heart Institute in St. Petersburg, Fla.

He leaves his wife, Jeanne Meskus; three sons, Curtis and Roger Meskus, both of Charlton, Mass., and Eric Meskus of Worcester, Mass.; his former wife, Avis Meskus of Charlton; a stepdaughter; two stepsons; and four grandchildren. He was born in Pittsburgh. He graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.

Mr. Meskus was a claims manager for 34 years for Liberty Mutual Insurance, most recently in Detroit. He was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.

The memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in the Chapel of the Masonic Home, Charlton. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Donation Fund, c/o St. Anne of Grace Episcopal Church, 6660 113th St., Seminole, FL 33772.

Joyce M. Messer, 58

FITCHBURG -- Joyce M. (Severance) Messer, 58, of 1199 John Fitch Highway, formerly of Lunenburg, a nurse, died Thursday, April 5, in Birchwood Care Center after a long illness.

She leaves her husband of 14 years, Raymond H. Messer; a son, David Berry Jr. of Ludlow, Vt.; three daughters, Cindy Mansell of West Lebanon, N.H., Marguerite M. Seney of Fitchburg and Rose Bartlett of Orford, N.H.; two brothers, Wayne Severance of Ooltewah, Tenn., and Wendell Severance of Lunenburg; a sister, Bernice Hassencahl of Hendersonville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; nephews and nieces. She was born in Rutland, Vt., daughter of Leon and Ethelyn (Chase) Severance, and graduated from South Lancaster Academy.

Mrs. Severance was a nurse at Rutland Regional Medical Center and Rutland Nursing Home, both in Rutland, Vt. In Lunenburg, she was a private duty nurse.

The memorial service and burial will be held at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101 First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451. The Fitchburg Chapel of Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 129 Elm St., is directing arrangements.

Francis X. Miale, 71

OCALA, Fla. -- Francis X. Miale, 71, of Ocala, formerly of Worcester, Mass., a retired relay technician, died Thursday, April 5, in Munroe Regional Medical Center.

He leaves his wife, Mary Miale; a daughter, Patricia Hriczo of Melbourne; two sons, Michael Miale of Durham, N.H., and James Miale of Ocala; a brother, Louis Miale of Orlando; and seven grandchildren. A daughter, Joanne Kemnitz, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester and moved to Florida in 1978.

Mr. Miale was a relay technician for Florida Power Corp. before retiring. He was a member of Our Lady of the Springs Church and Ocala Elks Lodge 286.

The memorial service will be held in Florida. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 1180, Ocala, FL 34478. Hiers Funeral Home, 910 South East Silver Springs Blvd., is directing arrangements.

Joseph Misiaszek, 91

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Joseph J. Misiaszek Sr., 91, of Lakeland, formerly of Sturbridge, Mass., a retired engineer, died Sunday, April 1 in Lakeland.

He leaves three sons, Joseph J. Misiaszek Jr. and Mark Misiaszek, both of Lakeland, and William Misiaszek of Houston; a sister, Angela Dalphond of Sebring; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was born in Southbridge, Mass., and lived in Sturbridge before moving to Florida 41 years ago. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Misiaszek was a civil engineer before retiring.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 6, in Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 South Ingraham Ave. Burial will be at a later date in Southbridge. There are no calling hours.

Susann M. Monaco, 61

SOUTHBRIDGE -- Susann M. (Brown) Monaco, 61, of 27 Colonial Drive, a legal secretary, died Monday, March 9, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 30 years, Angelo Monaco; a brother, Donald Brown of Leicester; a sister, Katherine LaPlante of Leicester; several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles and Susann (Ryan) Brown, and lived many years in Leicester and more than 30 years in Southbridge.

Mrs. Monaco was a legal secretary 30 years for the law firm of Fusaro and Fusaro in Worcester.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 11, from Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 30 Charlton St. Burial will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the funeral home. Please omit flowers.

Josephine Montalbano

NATICK -- Josephine R. (Angileri) Montalbano, 83, of Natick, died Wednesday, April 11, in Oak Knoll Healthcare Center in Framingham after a long illness.

Her husband, James Montalbano, predeceased her. She leaves two daughters, including Susanna T. Clewes of Southboro; a son; a brother; two sisters; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Montalbano was a member of Katherine Kennedy Senior Center and St. Patrick's Parish.

A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in St. Patrick's Church, 44 East Central St. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, in John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, Natick Common. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 44 East Central St., Natick, MA 01760 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
