Donald Mooradian, 54

SHREWSBURY -- Donald A. Mooradian, 54, of 177 Spring St., died Monday, April 9, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 32 years, Lynne S. (Perkins) Mooradian; five sons, Peter D. Mooradian of Watertown, Dr. David A. Mooradian of Pittsburgh, Pa., John M., Paul A., and Mark A. Mooradian, all of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Amy L. Gothorpe of Shrewsbury; his mother, Pat (Carper) Mooradian of Revere; two sisters, Kay Bonney and Kim Irwin, both of Revere; a granddaughter; several nephews and nieces. He was born in Winthrop, son of Varten T. Mooradian, and lived 30 years in Shrewsbury. He graduated from the Tilton School, and also graduated from Colgate University in 1968 where he captained the football team in 1967.

Mr. Mooradian was a sales associate for a variety of high technology companies for many years, most recently Xilinx Inc. in California.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Konosioni Society of Colgate.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, in Trinity Episcopal Church, 440 West Main St. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St. Donations may be made to the Mooradian Children Education Fund, c/o R. NORTHBORO -- The memorial Mass for Earl F. Morin, 81, of 80 Bartlett St., who died Saturday, March 31, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St. There are no calling hours.

Victor C. Morkunas, 74

WORCESTER -- Victor C. Morkunas, 74, of 71 Penn Ave., a retired shipper and receiver and a veteran of World War II, died Monday, April 9, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

His wife, Mary A. (Ostromecki) Morkunas, died in 1979. He leaves a son, Paul S. Morkunas of Millbury; two daughters, Janet A. LaBaire and Nancy L. Bassett, both of Millbury; his companion, Rose Kelleher, with whom he lived; five grandsons; two great-granddaughters; nephews and nieces. A son, Victor C. Morkunas Jr., died in 1991. A brother, John Morkunas, and a sister, Mary Morkunas, both of Florida, also predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of John and Mary (Yanusaitis) Morkunas. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Morkunas was a shipper and receiver for Madison Wire and Cable Co. for 10 years, retiring in 1989. Previously, he was a shipping and receiving foreman for R.G. Shakour Co., Westboro, for 25 years.

He was a member of the Auburn Sportsman's Club and the Lithuanian War Veterans Organization, and a former member and past secretary of the Lithuanian Social Club. He was an ice, deep sea and fresh water fisherman, and also enjoyed boating.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, in Dirsa-Kazlauskas Funeral Home, 51 Providence St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the funeral home.

Rose L. Niemszyk, 80

MARLBORO -- Rose L. (Rocco) Niemszyk, 80, died Saturday, March 31, at the Westridge Healthcare Center, after an illness.

Her husband, Francis J. Niemszyk, died in 1998. She leaves a son, Michael F. Niemszyk of Webster; two grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Niemszyk; nephews and nieces. She was born in Marlboro, daughter of Albert and Pasqualina Rocco.

Mrs. Niemszyk worked for the former Frye Shoe Co. She was a life long member of St. Ann's Parish and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, in St. Ann's Church, 466 Lincoln St. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. At the request of the family, there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Church, 466 Lincoln St., Marlboro, MA 01752. William R. Short and Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., is directing arrangements.

Alice M. Owczarzak, 84, retired assembler

WESTBORO -- Alice M. (Norton) Owczarzak, 84, formerly of 76 Flanders Road, a retired assembler, died Friday, April 6, in Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Northbridge, after an illness.

Her husband, Jerome A. Owczarzak, predeceased her. She leaves a son, Jerome A. Owczarzak of Upton; a grandson, Michael A. Owczarzak of Westboro; several great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. A brother, Walter Norton, and three sisters, Agnes Rossi, Ethel Perry and Ruth Burnham, predeceased her. She was born in Revere, daughter of Walter and Margaret (Basler) Norton, and lived most of her life in Westboro. She attended Westboro schools.

Mrs. Owczarzak was an assembler at Bay State Abrasives, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Church.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 11, from Rand-Harper-Pickering Westboro Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity.

Tyberiusz R. Paluch, 23

WORCESTER -- Tyberiusz R. Paluch, 23, of 19 Perry Avenue, died Sunday, April 8, in Umass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Route 290.

He leaves his parents, Wieslaw Paluch of Webster and Anna (Kurowska) Paluch of Worcester; a brother, Konrad Paluch of Worcester; a sister, Monika Paluch of Worcester; his maternal grandparents, Gustaw and Bronislawa (Jachimczyk) Kurowski of Poland; his paternal grandmother, Genoweta Paluch of Poland; nephews and nieces. He was born in Mragowo, Poland, and moved to Worcester in 1990. He graduated from South High School. He attended Quinsigamond Community College and ITT Technical Institute in Framingham.

Mr. Paluch co-owned and operated C.T. Temps in Worcester.

He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed weight lifting, football, and skiing.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 11, from Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours are from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the funeral home.

Rose A. Paquette, 97

LEOMINSTER -- Rose A. (Lamothe) Paquette, 97, formerly of 21 First St., died Thursday, April 5, in Greenbriar Nursing Home in Nashua, N.H., after an illness. Funeral arrangements, under the direction of M.A. Simard & Son Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., are incomplete.

Eva H. Partridge, 76

NORTH BROOKFIELD -- Eva H. (Doubleday) Partridge, 76, of 271 North Main St., a retired inspector, died Sunday, April 8, at home.

Her husband, Herbert W. Partridge, died in 1982. She leaves two sons, Richard H. Partridge of Brookfield and Lester H. Partridge of North Brookfield; a brother, Alan Doubleday of Orange; three sisters, Evelyn I. Letourneau of Palatka, Fla., Beatrice E. Horne of Scottsboro, Ala., and Patricia M. Doubleday of Orange; several grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. She was born in Dana, daughter of Charles and Edna (Peterson) Doubleday.

Mrs. Partridge was an inspector for Galileo Electro Optics in Sturbridge, and previously worked for American Optical Co. in Southbridge for seven years.

The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in Pillsbury Funeral Home, Old West Brookfield Road, Brookfield. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Friday, April 13, in Quabbin Park Cemetery, Ware. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Central Massachusetts, 35 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01506 or the East Brookfield Baptist Church, Main Street, East Brookfield, MA 01515.

Dalmazio Pellecchia, 87

LEOMINSTER -- Dalmazio “Red” Pellecchia, 87, of 99 Grand St., a retired business co-owner and a veteran of World War II, died Thursday, March 29, in Hillcrest Nursing Home.

His wife was the late Jean L. (Manzello) Pellecchia. He leaves two sons, Michele Pellecchia of Leominster and Daniel Pellecchia of Fitchburg; two brothers, Joseph Pellecchia of Fitchburg and Settimo “Babe” Pellecchia of Leominster; a sister, Olga Valera of Leominster; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was born in Leominster, son of David and Maria (Isopo) Pellecchia. He was a disabled Army veteran of World War II. He served in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland, and was awarded the Purple Heart.

With his brothers, Mr. Pellecchia co-owned Block's Inc. from 1944 until retiring in 1978. He was a member of the 313th Infantry Association 79th Cross of Lorraine, and the Sons of Italy Lodge of Leominster.

The funeral will be held Saturday, April 7, from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 199 Lancaster St. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 6, in the funeral home.

Petronis service

BARRE -- The funeral service and burial for Myrtle L. (Vaughn) Petronis, 74, of 10 Chamberlain Road, who died Wednesday, April 11, will be held at the family's convenience in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Her husband, John F. Petronis, died in 1980. She leaves three sons, Paul J. and Michael D. Petronis, both of Barre, and Russell M. Petronis of Spencer; three daughters, Irene L. Martelli of New Braintree, Patricia A. Sawicki of Holden and Deborah J. Novia of West Boylston; a brother, Vernon Vaughn of Athol; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four nephews. She was born in Dana, daughter of George and Doris (Carter) Vaughn.

Mrs. Petronis loved animals.

Donations may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, PO Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515. Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 South Barre Road, is directing arrangements.

Gordon J. Piascik, 83

Monday, April 9, 2001

GARDNER -- Gordon J. Piascik, 83, of 347 Pine St., died Friday, April 6, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Mary (Bystry) Piascik; two sons, John Piascik of Ashland and Thomas Piascik of Montville, N.J.; three sisters, Sophie Ciasculli and Frances Wielock, both of Meriden, Conn., and Veronica Kulis of Hamden, Conn.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in Templeton, son of Michael and Mary (Wesolowski) Piascik, and lived most of his life in Gardner. He attended Meriden schools.

Mr. Piascek was a shipping foreman 45 years at Gem Industries, retiring in 1980.

He was a member of St Joseph's Church, and was a former member of the Polish American Citizens Club. For many years he was member of the Piascik Brothers Polka Band, the first such band to play on the local Gardner radio station. He enjoyed gardening.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 11, from Poliks Funeral Home, 431 Pleasant St., with a Mass at noon in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St, Joseph's Church Building Fund, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner, MA 01440.

Daniel Pikkarainen, 76

Thursday, April 5, 2001

WESTMINSTER -- Daniel J. Pikkarainen, 76, of 21 Elliott St., a certified assessor, died Wednesday, April 4, in Hillcrest Nursing Home, Fitchburg, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife, Constance (Neithercut) Pikkarainen; a son, David T. Pikkarainen of Westminster; a daughter, Joan Bates of Lancaster; and two grandsons. A brother, Tauno Pikkarainen, died during World War II. He was born in Fitchburg, a son of Jaakko and Milja (Ahonen) Pikkarainen. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1943, where he played football, baseball and basketball.

Mr. Pikkarainen was chairman of assessors for the City of Fitchburg. He was the 61st certified Massachusetts assessor. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth in Westminster. He was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church.

The funeral service will be private in the Westminster Chapel of Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main St. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Westminster Rescue, c/o Chief Brenton W. MacAloney, 7 South St., Westminster, MA 01473.

Wayne R. Pleska, 40

Monday, April 9, 2001

WORCESTER -- Wayne R. Pleska, 40, of 21 Deer Pond Drive, Leicester, formerly of Worcester, a truck driver, died Friday, April 6, in Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital.

He leaves his girlfriend of 14 years, Mary Derusha; two stepsons, Loren Derusha Jr. and Michael Derusha, both of Webster; two stepdaughters, Michelle and Melissa Derusha, both of Leicester; a brother, Richard Pleska of Worcester; a stepsister, Deborah Ustinovich of Worcester; his stepfather, Emil Dusharme of Worcester; his paternal grandmother, Olga (Marchals) Pleska Maki of Worcester. He was born in Worcester, son of Richard S. Pleska and Eleanor (Gordon) Pleska Dusharme, and graduated from North High School in 1978.

Mr. Pleska was a truck driver for North American Van Lines for many years. He also owned and operated Dick's Tackle Co.

He was an avid fisherman.

After cremation, burial will be private in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in Lindquist-Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, 189 May St., Worcester, MA 01602.
