William M. Hubbell, 47
AUBURN -- William M. Hubbell, 47, of 15 Windbrook Drive, died Thursday, July 19, from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident that day on Route 20.

He leaves his longtime companion, Cynthia Cabral; a son, Jake Hubbell of Auburn; three daughters, Denise, Lori Ann and Kayte Hubbell, all of Florida, and Rachyl Sargent of Worcester; two brothers, Steven P. and Phillip M. “Jay” Hubbell, both of Worcester; four sisters, Carol Bundy, Nancy Warme, Sandy Scola and Tara Hubbell, all of California; six grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Phillip M. and Gloria (Brunelle) Hubbell, and lived here several years.

Mr. Hubbell enjoyed fishing.

The funeral service will be held at 8 p. m. Sunday, July 22, in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Cremation will be in Rural Cemetery & Crematory, Worcester. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p. m. Sunday, July 22, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to William Hubbell Memorial Fund, c/o Fleet Bank, 945 Grafton St., Worcester, MA 01604.

Angela J. Makulski, 92

Angela J. Makulski, 92
WEBSTER -- Angela J. (Kasierski) Makulski, 92, formerly of Slater Street, a retired spinner, died Wednesday, July 18, in Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam, after an illness.

Her husband, Anthony J. Makulski, died in 1973. She leaves two daughters, Felicia A. Wilson of the Wilsonville section of Thompson and Patricia M. Ryan of Coral Springs, Fla. ; two sisters, Frances Walkenstein of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Celia Servant of the North Grosvenordale section of Thompson; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A granddaughter died in December. She was born in Webster, daughter of Frank and Stasia (Jankowski) Kasierski, and lived here most of her life.

Mrs. Makulski was a spinner for 25 years at American Woolen Co., retiring in 1958. She was a member of St. Joseph Basilica, its Holy Rosary Sodality, its Sacred Heart Society and its St. Anne Society. She was a founding member of the Friends of St. Joseph.

A funeral will be held Monday, July 23, from Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10 a. m. in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p. m. Sunday, July 22, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Matulaitis Nursing Home, 10 Thurber Road, Putnam, CT 06260; or to Friends of St. Joseph School Fund, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA 01570.

HOLDEN -- Stephen Runk, 50, of Holden, died Friday, July 20, at home.

He leaves his mother, Bernice Runk of Holden; a brother, Thomas Runk of California; a niece and a nephew. He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School, Quinsigamond Community College, and from Clark University with a bachelor's in theater.

Mr. Runk lived and worked in Boston and Jamaica Plain before returning to Holden.

There is no funeral planned. There are no calling hours. Caswell-King Funeral Home, 1147 Main St., is directing arrangements.

Jamie C. Stewart, 45

AUBURN -- Jamie C. Stewart, 45, of 370 Oxford St. North, died Tuesday, July 17, at home.

He leaves his daughter, Dawn Marie Stewart of Oxford; and two sisters, Nancy Costa of Upton, and Judy Ferrandino of Uxbridge. His twin brother, A. Keith Stewart of West Boylston, died in 1996. He was born in Concord, son of Arlington K. and Janet (Cossaboom) Stewart, graduated from Westboro High School, and lived in Whitinsville before moving 13 years ago to Auburn.

Mr. Stewart worked several years as a truck driver for CRC, Worcester. Previously, he worked many years as the operations manager for the American Specialty Equipment Corp., Auburn.

He was an avid boatman.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p. m. Monday, July 23, in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. . There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Dawn Marie Scholarship Fund c/o Sovereign Bank, 379 Main St., Sturbridge, MA 01566.

WORCESTER -- Julia (Lessard) Boulanger, 92, of 111 Country Club Blvd., died Saturday, July 28, in Beaumont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Westboro, after an illness.

Her husband of 63 years, Henry J. Boulanger, died in 1986. She leaves three sons, Ronald Boulanger of Shrewsbury, Raymond Boulanger of Worcester and Gerard Boulanger of San Diego; two granddaughters; a great-grandchild; nephews and nieces. She was born in Quebec, daughter of Onisifore and Albina (Messier) Lessard, and lived the past 60 years in Worcester.

Mrs. Boulanger was a member of Notre Dame Church and the Des Dame De Ste. Anne Society.

The funeral service will be private. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nicole Elise Boulanger Scholarship Fund, c/o Holy Name High School, 144 Granite St., Worcester, MA 01604. WEBSTER -- George Zongas, 82, of 29 Racicot Ave., a retired business owner and operator, died Sunday, July 29, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a short illness.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Maria (Xenos) Zongas; nieces and nephews, including Angeliki Douka of Worcester; and a grandniece, Barbara Efstathiou of Worcester. A brother, Stavros Zongas of Greece, died in 1991. A sister, Vasiliki Sakos of Greece, died in 1993. He was born in Pepeli, Northern Epiros, Greece, son of Elias and Lambrini (Mitrou) Zongas, and lived in Constantinople before coming to the United States in 1956. He moved to Webster in 1970.

In Constantinople, Mr. Zongas and his brother owned and operated a dairy business. He then operated a pizza business with his brother in New York City. In Webster, he owned and operated V&A Pizza Inc., retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church and St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Worcester, and its Senior Citizen Society. He was a member of the Hellenic Society of Constantinople, New York City, and Worcester.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, with a service at 11 a. m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p. m. Tuesday, July 31, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral Special Fund, 102 Russell St., Worcester, MA 01609; or to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Parkway Avenue, Webster, MA 01570.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- John T. Welch Sr., 59, of 2984 Boggy Creek Road, formerly of Southbridge, Mass., died Saturday, July 28, in Florida Hospital.

He leaves his wife, Janice Y. (Splaine) Welch; a son, John T. Welch Jr. of San Francisco; a daughter, Jennifer Hunter of Monte Sereno, Calif. ; two brothers, Ronald R. Welch of Charlton, Mass., and Michael T. Welch of New London, Conn. ; three sisters, Mary Wojciechowski of the Quinebaug section of Thompson, Conn., Cynthia D. Welch of Southbridge, and Ellen K. Brunell of Forestdale, Mass. ; two grandchildren. A brother, Joseph F. Welch, predeceased him. He was born in Southbridge, son of Joseph F. and Stephanie (Czyzewski) Welch, and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Welch was a Southbridge firefighter, retiring in 1973 due to medical problems.

He was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, from Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., with a Mass at 10 a. m. in St. Mary's Church, 263 Hamilton St. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p. m. Tuesday, July 31, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

CARTHAGE, Maine -- John P. Wells, 51, of Newman Cemetery Road, formerly of 193 Mill St., Winchendon, Mass., and also formerly of Milford, N. H., a Vietnam War veteran, died Friday, July 27, at home.

He leaves a son, Steven E. R. Wells of Hockenheim, Germany; seven brothers, Charles E. Wells Jr. of Winchendon, Richard G., Lawrence J., and Maurice F. Wells, all of Milford, Ronald A. Wells of Wilson, N. H., Carl Wells of Nashua, N. H., and Joel Wells of Litchfield, N. H. ; two sisters, Shirley J. Wells of Nova Scotia and Carol Cruz of Puerto Rico; many nephews and nieces. He was born in Goffstown, N. H., son of Charles E. and Elsie M. (Jones) Wells, and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Wells enjoyed hunting and fishing.

The funeral, with military honors, will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in Fletcher-Hebert Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p. m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, in the funeral home.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Dr. Irving A. “Mike” Werma, 87, of Port Charlotte, formerly of Holden, Mass., a retired podiatrist, died Friday, July 27, in South Port Nursing Center.

He leaves his wife, Violet T. Werma. He was born in Worcester, Mass., and lived in Holden before moving to Port Charlotte in 1979. He graduated from Middlesex University in Waltham, Mass., and Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, Cleveland.

Dr. Werma practiced podiatry in Worcester and Nantucket, Mass., retiring in 1978. In the early 1970s, he was a consultant in podiatry for the U. S. Government at the Health Institute in Bethesda, Md., and Washington, D. C. He was a member of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church and the Port Charlotte Rotary Club; a life member of American Podiatry Association; a former member of Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club; and a former member and past president of the Rotary Club of Worcester.

No funeral service is planned. Memorial donations may be made to Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, 21075 Quesada Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952; or to Port Charlotte Rotary Foundation, PO Box 494186, Port Charlotte, FL 33949-4186. WORCESTER -- Clifford S. Zane, 67, of 32 Brook St., an assembly worker, died Monday, July 30, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

He leaves a brother, Robert Zane of Bridgewater; and a sister, Alice Zane of Springfield. He was born in Lynn, son of Henry and Mary L. (Lorenzon) Zane, and lived the past 20 years in the Worcester area. He attended Waltham schools.

Mr. Zane was an assembly worker at Seven Hills Foundation for 12 years. He was a member of Senior Center of Worcester, St. Francis Adult Day Health, Matson Community Services Inc., Fitchburg, Lutheran Adult Day Health. He was a movie critic for the Matson News Letter, Fitchburg, and was an artist who enjoyed traveling.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in Nordgren, Carrigan, Mangsen Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour is 10 to 11 a. m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Matson Community Services Inc., 10 Cascade St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.

Grace M. Zeneski, 52

Grace M. Zeneski, 52
UXBRIDGE -- Grace M. (McLaughlin) Zeneski, 52, of 8 Willard Drive, an elementary school teacher, died Monday, July 30, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 13 years, Joseph M. Zeneski; a son, Kenneth P. Genatassio of Worcester; two daughters, Laura M. Alfama of Worcester and Carolyn B. Genatassio of Storrs, Conn. ; her mother, Catherine (Grant) McLaughlin of Jamaica Plain; a brother, John P. McLaughlin of Canton; and several nephews. She was born in Boston, son of John McLaughlin, and lived in Mansfield before moving to Uxbridge 13 years ago. She graduated from Boston State College and earned a master's degree from Bridgewater State College.

Mrs. Zeneski taught first grade at L. G. Norse Elementary School, Norton.

She regularly attended town meeting and was a member of several school-related committees. In 1999, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and, after surgery and treatments, she returned to the classroom in 2000. Just before Thanksgiving, she was diagnosed with leukemia. After several treatments, she succumbed to a relapse complicated by viral pneumonia.

A funeral will be held Friday, Aug. 3, from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Road, with a Mass at 10 a. m. in St. Mary's Church, 71 Mendon St. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p. m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, and Thursday, Aug. 2, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMass Cancer Center, Breast Cancer Research, Biotech 4, Suite 315, 377 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605.
