Kenneth Holland, 78
HUDSON -- Kenneth Holland, 78, of Hudson, a retired bank vice president, died Friday, July 27, at home.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Mary A. (Gilles) Holland; a son, Richard Holland of Marlboro; and two daughters, Janice Rogers of Marlboro and Ann Brady of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla. A sister, Gladys Williams, and two brothers, Thomas and John Holland, predeceased him. He was born in Hudson, son of Thomas and Martha (Grandy) Holland, and lived 29 years in Sudbury before moving to Hudson in 1984. He graduated from Hudson High School and Bentley College, Waltham.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Holland was vice president of Cambridge Savings Bank, Cambridge, retiring in 1975. He previously worked at Hudson Savings Bank, Federal Reserve Bank in Boston, and Ernes and Ernes in Hartford. He was a member of the American Legion.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, in Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 29, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to UMass Memorial Foundation, Hospice Program, 16 Shaffner St., Worcester, MA 01605.

NORTHBORO -- The funeral Mass for Brett P. Horgan, 34, of 7 Patrick Drive, who died Sunday, July 22, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, in Leland-Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St.

He leaves his parents; a brother; a sister; his paternal grandmother; and his maternal grandmother.

Most recently, Mr. Horgan was a computer technician for four years at Kopin Corp., Westboro. He previously worked at Digital Equipment Corp., Shrewsbury. He was a fisherman and sportsman.

WARREN -- The memorial service for Dorothy L. (Burkhardt) Horgan, 70, of 17 Yankee Drummer Drive, a registered nurse, who died Friday, Aug. 3, at home after a long illness, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, in United Church of Ware, Church Street, Ware. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

She leaves her husband of 47 years, Walter E. Horgan; her father, Edmond Burkhardt of South Yarmouth; two daughters, Bonnie J. Arooth of Palmer and Kathleen Coulombe of Ware; a sister, Betty-Jane Burkhart of South Yarmouth; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Horgan was a registered nurse, and was assistant night supervisor at Mary Lane Hospital in Ware for 22 years.

WORCESTER -- Dolores E. (Lescord) Horne, 76, of 161 West Mountain St., a retired cafeteria worker, died Tuesday, July 24, at her home.

Her husband of 48 years, Erskine “Oakie” Horne, died in 1995. She leaves a son, Robert E. Horne of Alpharetta, Ga. ; a daughter, Bonnie J. Leslie of Rutland; her mother, Beatrice (Army) Lescord of Worcester; a brother, Peter Lescord Jr. of Lawndale, Calif. ; five sisters, Sandra Wiggins and Jeannine Smith, both of Millbury, and Sheila Norton, Annarita Bronzo and Sharline Suffill, all of Auburn; and five grandchildren. A brother, Richard Lescord of Worcester, and two sisters, Emma Chitwood in Georgia and Audrey Westberg of Worcester, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Peter Lescord Sr.

Mrs. Horne was a cafeteria worker for 14 years at Norton Co., retiring in 1975.

The funeral service will be private in Caswell-King Funeral Home, 474 Grove St. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Hospice Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.

HENDERSONVILLE COUNTY, N. C. -- Yvonne (Ouellette) Houde of Hendersonville County, formerly of Sturbridge, Mass., died Monday, July 30, in Hendersonville Hospice Center after an illness.

Her husband, Rene Houde, died in 1979. She leaves three sons, Robert Houde of Hendersonville County, with whom she lived, Fred Houde of Charlton, Mass., and Kenneth Houde of Niwot, Colo. ; a sister, Doris McHugh of Ludlow, Mass. ; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Southbridge, Mass., daughter of Ernest and Lydia (Belanger) Ouellette, and lived in Sturbridge before moving to North Carolina.

Mrs. Houde worked for the Sturbridge Yankee Workshop. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church, Ludlow, and a member of the bible study group. In Sturbridge, she was a parishioner of St. Anne's Parish.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, in St. John the Baptist Church, Hubbard Street, Ludlow. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge. A calling hour is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, in Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East St., Ludlow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Parish Building Fund, PO Box 338, Charlton City, MA 01508; or to St. John the Baptist Pastoral Center, 181 Hubbard St., Ludlow, MA 01056.

Nancy E. Hull, 54
POMFRET -- Nancy E. (Taylor) Hull, 54, of Hampton Road, Pomfret Center, a nurse and business owner, died Sunday, Aug. 5, at home after a year-long battle with cancer.

She leaves her husband of 33 years, William B. Hull; two sons, Samuel Hull of Union and Benjamin Hull of Pomfret; a daughter, Mary Hull of Russell, Mass. ; a sister, Rachel Pangburn of New Boston, N. H. ; nieces and nephews. A sister, Cynthia T. Durgin, predeceased her. She was born in Exeter, N. H., daughter of Samuel F. and Cynthia M. (George) Taylor, and graduated from Oyster River High School and the Concord Hospital School of Nursing.

Along with her husband, she started Hull Forest Products Inc. She was also a registered nurse at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, and Westview Nursing Home in Dayville.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, hooking rugs, and horseback riding. She volunteered at Pomfret Community School, where she substituted as school nurse. She was a member of Pomfret Congregational Church, and was church clerk many years. She enjoyed antiques, and was an antique dealer at the Pink Geranium in Woodstock.

A funeral service will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tufts New England Veterinary Ambulatory Clinic, 60 Sheldon Road, Woodstock, CT 06281. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam, is directing arrangements.

William P. Hurt, 78

ORANGE -- William P. “Bud” Hurt, 78, of 48 Putnam St., died Saturday, Aug. 4, in his home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Phyllis C. (Fisher) Hurt; a son, Mark Hurt, of Orange, a daughter, Wendy LaBonte of Orange; and four grandchildren. A granddaughter died in 1980. Born in Westmoreland, N. H., son of William and Minnie D. (Lorando) Hurt, he lived in New Hampshire, Spencer and Athol before moving to Orange nearly 60 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and served with the infantry in Europe, Africa and the Middle Eastern.

Mr. Hurt worked in the Textile Roll Division of the Rodney Hunt Co. and continued with KRH Rolls after they acquired the division. He retired in 1988 after working there for 25 years. He also worked at the former Orange Shoe Co. He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique automobiles, as well as attending car shows.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St. Burial will follow in South Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, in the funeral house. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA of Greater Gardner Hospice, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner MA 01440.

Stanley V. Hwalek, 85

WILDWOOD, N. J. -- Stanley V. Hwalek, 85, formerly of Filo Road, Dudley, Mass., a lens grinder and veteran of World War II, died Friday, July 20, in Loyalton Assisted Living in Wildwood.

He leaves a daughter, Judith Pratt of Boca Raton, Fla. ; a son, David C. Hwalek of Wildwood; a brother, Frederick Hwalek of Dudley; two sisters, Mary F. Gervais of Rochdale, Mass., and Helen Frederick of Southbridge, Mass. ; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Three brothers, John Chwalek of North Grosvenordale, Conn., Theodore Hwalek of Ludlow, Mass., and Walter Hwalek of Tampa, Fla., and two sisters, Sophie Rodman of Palm Bay, Fla., and Catherine Filo of Dudley, predeceased him. He was born in Southbridge, son of Joseph A. and Frances (Slota) Hwalek, and lived most of his life in Dudley. He attended Cole Trade School in Southbridge.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.

Mr. Hwalek was a prescription lens grinder at American Optical Co. in Southbridge.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home, 1201 Central Ave., North Wildwood, is directing arrangements.

William P. Jaegle, 75, former W-G manager

SANTA CLARITA, Calif -- William P. Jaegle, 75, formerly of Worcester, a World War II veteran, died on Saturday, July 28, after a battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He leaves his wife of 30 years, Shelley (Doran) Jaegle; two sons, Gary Jaegle of Auburn, Mass. and Timothy Jaegle of Sulzbach, Germany; two daughters, Candace Jaegle of Worcester and Ariana Julian of Seattle; a sister, Mary Ramsey of San Diego; six grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A sister, Virginia Hoag, of Woodbury, Conn., died earlier this year. He was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., son of Ernest and Mary Jaegle, and moved to Worcester, Mass., to attend WPI, from which he graduated in 1946. He also graduated from Harvard University at the University of Hawaii in 1968. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving as an ensign.

Mr. Jaegle was employed as regional sales manager by Wyman Gordon Company. He also was a self-employed manufacturers representative in the aerospace industry of southern California.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 4, at St. Mel's, Woodland Hills. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul's, Worcester, in the fall.

Patsy A. Janssens, 73

LEOMINSTER -- Patsy A. (Taylor) Janssens, 73, of 556 Central St., died Tuesday, July 24, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an long illness.

Her husband of 57 years, Edward J. Janssens Jr., died in 1991. She leaves four sons, Kimothy M. Janssens of Jacksonville, Fla., Mark A. Janssens of Fitchburg, John B. Janssens of Orange Park, Fla., and Thomas A. Janssens of Worcester; three daughters, Patricia C. Cramer of Corapolis, Pa., Flora C. Robinson of Leominster, and Joyce M. DeLeon of Winchendon; three sisters, Joyce Austin of Moline, Ill., Judy French of Lenoir, N. C., and Doris Williams of California; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A son, Edward J. Janssens III of Gardner, died in 1968. She was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, daughter of James M. and Doris S. (Gray) Taylor, and lived 20 years in Jacksonville, Fla., six years in Las Vegas, and nine years in Leominster.

Mrs. Janssens worked at a dry cleaning company in Jacksonville, and was also a toll collector. She retired in 1976.

She was an avid bingo player.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, in Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 26, in the funeral home.

HUDSON -- Patricia J. Ledoux, 67, of Hudson, died Sunday, July 22, in Marlboro Hospital after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 46 years, Raymond W. Ledoux; two sons, Richard Ledoux of Hopedale and Raymond Ledoux of Greenfield; a daughter, Linda Orlando of Litchfield, N. H. ; a sister, Catherine Ledoux of Marlboro; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in the Bronx, N. Y., daughter of James and Johanna (Mulhall) Donnan.

Mrs. Ledoux was a member of St. Michael Church and St. Matthias Church Bible Study Group.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 25, from Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 21 Manning St. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, in the funeral home.
