WORCESTER -- Bernice M. (Carraher) Fleming, 80, of 38 Fales St., a longtime clerk, died Monday, Nov. 12, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus.

She leaves her husband of 35 years, John H. Fleming; a sister, Eleanor Hass of Cape May, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Joseph H. Carraher, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph B. and Elizabeth G. (Laughlin) Carraher, and lived here her entire life. She graduated from Commerce High School.

Mrs. Fleming worked more than 40 years as a clerk in the Grinding Wheel Division of Norton Co., retiring in 1984. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish and the Norton Retirees Club. She enjoyed swimming and reading.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, from Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, 25 Fales St.,

Robert L. Fletcher, 88

JUNO BEACH, Fla. -- Robert L. Fletcher, 88, a resident of the Waterford, formerly of Worcester, Mass., a retired realtor, died Friday, Nov. 2, in the Waterford's health care center.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Eleanor M. Fletcher; two daughters, Nancy Artlett of Sydney, Australia, and Sally Murray of Warrenton, Va.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was born in Marlboro, Mass., and lived in Worcester before moving to Juno Beach in 1969 and to the Waterford, a life care community, in 1986.

Mr. Fletcher was a realtor in Worcester and Holden, Mass., for 25 years, serving as president of the Worcester Board of Realtors in 1958. In Juno Beach, he established Celestial Realty Inc., retiring in 1993.

After retiring, he remained active in community affairs in Juno Beach and at the Waterford. He sponsored his wife's founding the Children's Museum of Juno Beach, now the Marine Life Center. In Worcester, he was a member of First Unitarian Church and the Worcester Club, and a life member of the Morning Star Lodge of Masons.

The memorial service was held at the Waterford. Memorial donations may be made to Marine Life Center of Juno Beach Building Fund, 14200 U.S. Highway 1, Juno Beach, FL 33408; or to Hospice of Palm Beach County Inc., 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407-2387.

Louis M. Foisy, 30

WORCESTER -- Louis M. Foisy, 30, of 33 Agate Ave., died Sunday, Nov. 11, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on Grafton Street that day.

He leaves his parents, Louis R. and Gail E. (Berg) Foisy of Worcester; a brother, Stephen R. Foisy of Webster; a sister, Susan Holland of Limestone, Maine; and his fiancee, Kristina Wieslander of Worcester. He was born in Worcester and graduated from North High School. He attended Quinsigamond Community College and Pennsylvania State University.

Mr. Foisy worked for Tompkins Trucking Co. and Rayco Electronics in Shrewsbury. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church. He was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast; a musician, playing the keyboards with several local bands; and was involved in softball, weightlifting and baseball.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church, 75 Alvarado Ave. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the funeral home. Marie J. Fortier, 99
Sunday, November 11, 2001

WORCESTER -- Marie J. (Savoie) Fortier, 99, of 116 Malden St., died Saturday, Nov. 10, in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an illness. Funeral arrangements, under the direction of Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., are incomplete.

Matilda E. Foye, 84
Monday, November 12, 2001

MILFORD -- Matilda E. "Elda" (Diotolevi) Foye, 84, formerly of Glines Avenue, a retired seamstress, died Saturday, Nov. 10, in the Geriatric Authority of Milford.

Her husband, Clement F. Foye, died in 1984. She leaves a son, Clement E. Foye of Milford; a daughter, Sally Ann Brita of Milford; a brother, Emilio Diotolevi of Milford; three sisters, Albina Grillo and Emilia Donahue, both of Milford, and Gemma Bresciani of Hopedale; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Foye worked as a seamstress for the former Anthony Roberts, retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, from Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, Winter Street,. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the funeral home.

Michael A. Franciose

LEOMINSTER -- Michael A. "Mike Leach" Franciose, 71, of 305 Sixth St., a retired supervisor, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness.

He leaves two brothers, Joseph A. and Robert A. Franciose, both of Leominster; four sisters, Melinda F. Franciose, Nicolina P. Merriam and Antonetta M. Caisse, all of Leominster, and Ann M. Lapomardo of Worcester; nephews and nieces. He was born in Leominster, son of Philip and Maria (Clementi) Franciose, and graduated from Leominster High School in 1948. He then served as a corporal with the Army in Germany.

Mr. Franciose worked 40 years at Foster Grant Co., retiring as a supervisor in the sun glass division in 1988. He was a member of St. Anna's Church and the Foster Grant 25-Year Club. He was a sports fan.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, from Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster St. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the funeral home.

Raffaela Lena Frascola

OVIEDO, Fla. -- Raffaela Lena (Ferro) Frascola, 93, of 1017 Providence Lane, formerly of Worcester, Mass., died Monday, Nov. 12, in Winter Park after an illness.

Her husband of 56 years, Thomas Frascola, died in 1985. She leaves a daughter, Anna Nigro, with whom she lived; a granddaughter, Teresa Williams of DeBary; nieces and nephews. She was born in San Severo, province of Foggia, Italy, daughter of Giuseppe and Giovanna (Calabrese) Ferro, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oviedo 12 years ago.

Mrs. Frascola was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Worcester.

The funeral service and burial in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, Mass., will be held at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St., Worcester, MA 01604. Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

Marie Antoinette Dion Duplessis, 96

LAKE PLACID, Fla. -- Marie Antoinette (Trudel) Dion Duplessis, 96, of Lake Placid, formerly of 1050 Main St., Worcester, died Friday, Nov. 9, in Lake Placid.

She leaves two daughters, Armande Helms Weaver of Oregon and June Dion Deroy of Lake Placid; nine stepchildren, the Rev. Omer Duplessis, OMI, of Haiti, and Ruth Allard, Doris Meunier, Valerie Vallee, Anna Mary Durand, Bertrand, Martin, Florine and Rudy Duplessis, all of New Hampshire; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Her first husband, Arthur Dion, died in 1942 and her second husband, Joseph Duplessis, died in 1963. A daughter, Georgette Dion Pauline Harward, also predeceased her. She was born in St. Ursule, Canada, daughter of Henry and Rebecca (LeBlanc) Trudel.

Mrs. Duplessis was a practical nurse at Worcester State Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1967. She also worked at local nursing homes.

She was a member of the Dame de Ste. Anne, Holy Name of Jesus Church and its Golden Age Club in Worcester; Institute Francoise, St. James Church, Lake Placid and its Women of St. James, Lake Placid. She also volunteered at Florida Hospital.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, from Alfred Roy and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 53 Illinois St., Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the funeral home. Entombent will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Parish, 51 Illinois St., Worcester, MA 01610.

Patricia A. Dacri, 47
Tuesday, November 13, 2001

WORCESTER -- Patricia A. (Fallstrom) Dacri, 47, of 182 Cohasset St., a retired nurse, died Monday, Nov. 12, at home after a long illness.

She leaves her husband of 25 years, Paul J. Dacri; a son, Timothy P. Dacri at home; three daughters, Jennifer A., Joanne M. and Jillian M. Dacri, all at home; her mother, Eileen M. (Kennedy) Fallstrom of Worcester; a brother, David Fallstrom of Worcester; a sister, Mary Beth Bieniek of Worcester; nieces and nephews. A brother, Thomas Fallstrom, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Raymond Fallstrom. She attended St. Stephen's High School and graduated from Holy Name High School and Quinsigamond Community College School of Nursing.

Mrs. Dacri was a registered nurse and the employee health nurse at Providence Extended Care, retiring in 1995 because of illness. She previously had worked at St. Vincent Hospital. She was a member of St. Stephen's Church.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen's Church Renovation Fund, 357 Grafton St., Worcester, MA 01604.

Evelyn L. Day, 73
Wednesday, November 14, 2001

FITCHBURG -- Evelyn L. (Koski) Day, 73, of 360 Electric Ave., died Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Mariner Health Care after an illness.

Her husband, Charles Day, predeceased her. She leaves three daughters, Linda A. Miller of Englewood, Fla., Paula Kelly of Lunenburg and Karen Franklin of Fitchburg; a sister, Edith Albert of Westminster; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. A son, Richard Rice, died last year. A daughter, Susan L. Rice, died in 1984. Four brothers and eight sisters also predeceased her. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of John and Mary (Hendrickson) Koski, and lived here before moving to Florida in 1972. She returned to Fitchburg in 1995.

Mrs. Day worked in retail sales, including for Eve's Kiddie Shop and Roger's in the Square, before retiring. She was a former member of Christ Episcopal Church.

The graveside service will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 16, in Forest Hill Cemetery, 109 Mount Elam Road. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund, c/o International Association of Fire Fighters, attention: General Secretary Treasurer's Office, 1750 New York Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20008-5395. John J. Desavage, 83
Monday, November 12, 2001

WEST YARMOUTH -- John J. "Skippy" Desavage, 83, of 17 Archie Road, formerly of 4 Dorrance St., Worcester, a World War II veteran, died Saturday, Nov. 10, in Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.

His wife of 55 years, Bernice M. (Degon) Desavage died in July. He leaves two daughters, Linda M. Masterson of Worcester and Joyce Turco of Sarasota, Fla.; two brothers, Michael and James Desavage, both of Worcester; five sisters, Ann Sliwoski, Beatrice Wiwatoski and Aldona Desavage, all of Worcester, Virginia Laskowski of Eastham and Mary Delman of South Yarmouth; nine grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Stephen and Adolph Desavage and by three sisters, Julia Grimaldi, Irene Gough and Helen F. Desavage. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of John and Anna (Zuromski) Desavage and lived in Worcester for most of his life before moving to West Yarmouth 11 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving with an anti-aircraft artillery battalion at Normandy, Northern France the Rhineland and Central Europe.

Mr. Desavage was a truck driver for 20 years for Atlas Distributors, retiring in 1981. He previously was a truck driver for American Steel and Wire Co. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Worcester, the South Yarmouth Moose Lodge and Teamsters local 170.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, from Dirsa-Kazlauskas Funeral Home, 51 Providence St., Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in the funeral home. Ernest R. Desroches, 82

SPENCER -- Ernest R. Desroches, 82, of 14 Howe Village, a World War II veteran and a retired machinist, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, in The Meadows of Leicester.

His wife, Lorraine V. (Beauchamp) Desroches, died in 1984. He leaves three sons, Arthur L. Desroches of Spencer, Normand D. Desroches of Leicester and Philip E. Desroches of Sturbridge; a daughter, Marie E. Hocking of Taunton; eight brothers, Edmond and Gabriel Desroches, both of England, Donald, Raymond and Richard Desroches, all of Worcester, Eugene Desroches of Bellingham, Robert Desroches of Auburn and Paul Desroches of Hamden, Conn.; three sisters, Lorraine Mozzola of Worcester, Eveline Robert of Leicester and Claire Wirf of West Brookfield; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A brother, Armand Desroches, and three sisters, Rita Nielson, Jeannette Robert and Constance Casey, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Alphonse and Fernande (Prefontaine) Desroches, and lived here most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.

Mr. Desroches was a machinist at Wyman-Gordon Co., Grafton, for 38 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and American Legion Post 138. He was a former member of Spencer Rescue Squad and Spencer Fish & Game Club, and a former auxiliary police officer in town.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, from J.H. Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 60 Maple St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in the funeral home. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Massachusetts, 129 Morgan Drive, Norwood, MA 02062.
