WORCESTER -- Helen T. Call, 97, of 60 Allston Ave., formerly of 269 Millbury St., died Monday, Oct. 29, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

Her husband, Lewis W. Call, died in 1994. She leaves several cousins and a goddaughter, Geraldine Alberts, with whom she lived. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Casimir and Casimira (Wesota) Call, and lived all her life here.

Mrs. Call enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was an avid fisherman.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in St. Paul's Cathedral, 15 Chatham St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, in Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St.

Fernando T. Caffoni, 82
Sunday, October 28, 2001

LEOMINSTER -- Fernando T. Caffoni, 82, of 44 Keystone Drive, formerly of 657 North Main St., a World War II veteran, died Saturday, Oct. 27, in Keystone Care Center.

His wife of 60 years, Gilda E. Caffoni, died Oct. 2. He leaves a son, Rodrigo C. Caffoni of Orleans; two daughters, Cynthia A. Tata of Leominster and Mary L. Carter of Fitchburg; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Lisa M. Caffoni, died in 1995. A brother Rodrigo Caffoni, and two sisters, Emma Ciccone and Enrica L'Italien, predeceased him. He was born in Leominster, son of Alvaro and Zelina (Pascarelli) Caffoni, and lived his entire life in Leominster. He attended Leominster schools. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Monrovia and the USS Haus. He was awarded several citations during the war, including the World War II Victory Medal and the Honorable Service Button.

Mr. Caffoni was a letter carrier in Leominster for many years, retiring in 1986. Previously, he worked at the former Foster Grant Co., Leominster, and was a barber and part-owner of the former Montagna Brothers Barber Shop, Leominster. He was a member of the ARC of North Central Inc., Fitchburg, St. Anna's Church and the Sons of Italy No. 185. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose and played the trumpet for the Colonial Band of Leominster.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 29 from Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster St. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Lisa Caffoni to the Respite House, Fifth Turnpike Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420, or to the ARC of North Central Inc., 564 Main St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.

Joseph J. Brosky, 85
Wednesday, October 31, 2001

HOLYOKE -- Joseph J. Brosky, 85, a resident of the Holyoke Soldiers Home, formerly of Leicester, a World War II veteran and a retired highway department worker, died Friday, Oct. 26, in the Soldiers Home after a long illness.

He leaves a brother, John J. Brosky of Palm Desert, Calif.; two sisters, Blanche C. Greeney of Naples, Fla., and Doris Stuart of the Cherry Valley section of Leicester; nephews and nieces. He was born in Palmer, son of George and Blanche (Zurek) Brosky, and lived most of his life in Leicester before moving to the Holyoke Soldiers Home 23 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Brosky was a laborer for the Massachusetts Highway Department, retiring in 1975. He was a former member of the Polish American Club of Worcester.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, from Morrison-Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., Leicester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main St., Leicester. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holyoke Soldiers Home, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040.

John J. Burnett, 47
Sunday, October 28, 2001

WORCESTER -- John J. Burnett, 47, of 101 Malverne Road, died Saturday, Oct. 20, in Pahrump, Nev., at the home of a relative.

He leaves a daughter, Jennifer Burnett of Worcester; his mother, Cecile (Phaneuf) Burnett of Worcester; a brother, Lewis Burnett of Crossville, Tenn; a sister, Laure Berthiaume of Marlboro; and his paternal grandmother, Anna Burnett of Crossville, Tenn. He was born in Worcester, son of Lewis R. Burnett. He was a Navy veteran of Vietnam War.

Mr. Burnett worked for the former the W.M. Steel Co. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing.

The funeral service will be held at a later date. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m Sunday, Oct. 28, in the Putnam Graham and Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Mass. Affiliate, 20 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.

Betsey Burtt, 81
Thursday, October 25, 2001

WESTBORO -- Betsey (Nutting) Burtt, 81, of 221 Milk St., died Tuesday, Oct. 23, at her home, after a brief illness.

Her husband was the late Brooks F. Burtt. She leaves two daughters, Joellyn Cobb of Champagne, Ill., and Carolyn Burtt Borgland of Westboro; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A son, Paul R. Burtt, predeceased her. She was born in Waltham, daughter of Robert F. and Hazel E. (Brown) Nutting. She graduated from Colby Junior College in New Hampshire and from Wheelock College in Boston. She moved to Westboro in 1999.

Mrs. Burtt was a member of the Westboro Historical Society and the Old House Association in Marlboro. She previously raised sheep with her family in the Hillsboro, N.H., area.

She was a member of several sheep and wool growing organizations, and was a chairwoman of the board of trustees of the New Hampshire Region of the Eastern States Exposition.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at her residence. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, in Rand-Harper-Pickering Westboro Funeral Home, 62 West Main St. Memorial contributions may be made to the 4-H Sheep Program, Eastern States Exposition, Agriculture Department, 1305 Memorial Ave., West Springfield, MA 01089; or to the Brooks F. Shirley DuPont, 63
Monday, November 12, 2001

CHELMSFORD -- Shirley (Temple) DuPont, 63, of Chelmsford, formerly of Marlboro, a foster parent, died Saturday, Nov. 10, after a lengthy illness.

She leaves her husband, Charles DuPont; a son, Charles DuPont of Franklin; five daughters, Pamela Smith of Athol, Sarah Lane of Natick, Roseanne Hunter of Shirley, Melissa Fish of Ayer and Samantha DuPont of Chelmsford; 25 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. She was born in Marlboro, daughter of Adrian and Sarah (Pontbriand) Temple.

Mrs. DuPont was a foster mother for 20 years, caring for children with special needs and terminal illnesses.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in St. Ann's Church, Lincoln Street, Marlboro. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlboro. Marion B. Dupuis, 90
Tuesday, November 13, 2001

LEICESTER -- Marion B. (Hanks) Dupuis, 90, of Trenton Street in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, a former sales clerk, died Monday, Nov. 12, at home.

Her husband Conrad E. Dupuis, died in 1972. She leaves a son, Francis E. Dupuis of Rutland; a daughter, Claudette M. Grandmaison of Lewiston, Maine; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Westminster, daughter of Henry and Margaret (Ledger) Hanks, and lived in Millbury before moving to Leicester many years ago. She graduated from Fitchburg High School.

Mrs. Dupuis was a sales clerk for several years at C.T. Shearer Department Store in Worcester.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, from Morrison-Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 759 Main St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the funeral home.

Mary E. Empie, 77
Saturday, November 10, 2001

GRAFTON -- Mary E. (Faron) Empie, 77, of 2 Bailin Circle, North Grafton, a retired highway department worker, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester.

Her husband, Leslie C. Empie, died in 1973. She leaves a daughter, Judith T. Empie of Charlton; a sister, Doris T. Gwozdowski of Millbury; nephews and nieces. Nine brothers and three sisters predeceased her. She was born in Millbury, daughter of Frank J. and Mary (Casey) Faron, and lived in Shrewsbury before moving to North Grafton in 1971. She graduated from Millbury High School in 1942.

Mrs. Empie worked 35 years for the state Highway Department, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Retired State and County Municipal Employees Association.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 17 Waterville St. Burial will be in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are 8:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Project 2000, 17 Waterville St., North Grafton, MA 01536.

Douglas F. Eno Jr., 33

NORTHBORO -- Douglas F. Eno Jr., 33, of Fernbrook Road, died Friday, Nov. 9, at home.

He leaves his mother, Marion F. (Shippey) Eno of Northboro; and a brother, Derek R. Eno of Northboro. He was born in Norwood, son of Douglas F. Eno Sr., and was raised in Northboro. He lived seven years in Long Island, N.Y. He graduated from Algonquin Regional High School, Northboro, in 1968 and earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Lowell.

Mr. Eno worked for Surveys and Analysis in Shrewsbury and New York. He then worked in real estate sales and telecommunications in New York. He enjoyed surfing, biking and playing the guitar.

The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in Leland-Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Burial will be private in Howard Street Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the funeral home.

Edward F. Farrell, 88

LEICESTER -- Edward F. Farrell, 88, of 1 Eleanor Terrace, Cherry Valley, a retired steelworker, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Providence Extended Care Center, Worcester.

He leaves a brother, James J. Farrell of Spencer; and three nephews, Marcus J. Farrell of Millinocket, Maine, John P. Powers of Holden and Thomas F. Powers of Worcester; and a niece, Donna J. Hendrickson of Cherry Valley. A brother, William P. Farrell, and a sister, V. Irene Powers, predeceased him. He was born in Leicester, son of Patrick J. and Frances (Sayers) Farrell.

Mr. Farrell was a steelworker at U.S. Steel & Wire Corp., Worcester, retiring in 1978.

He was a 60-year member of the Leicester Fire Department, serving as deputy chief of the Cherry Valley Fire Station; a member of St. Joseph Church; a founder of Leicester Little League; and a supporter of Nazareth Home for Boys. Many years ago, he was a catcher in an industrial baseball league, making it to the U.S. National Championship in that division. He loved fishing and hunting.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, from Morrison-Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nazareth Home for Boys, Mulberry Street, Leicester, MA 01524.
