WORCESTER -- Erenia (Vera) Valentin, 67, of 835 Main St., died Friday, Nov. 9, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus.

Her husband, Israel Valentin, died in 1992. She leaves a son, Urbano Plaza of Florida; two daughters, Luz Valentin and Elizabeth Cespedes, both of Providence, R.I.; a brother, Candido Vera of Leominster; and 14 grandchildren. She was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, daughter of Juantino and Liboria (Gonzales) Vera.

The funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Graham, Putnam, Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in the funeral home.

Vladas Visbaras, 80
Thursday, November 15, 2001

WORCESTER -- Vladas Visbaras, 80, of 302 North Lake Ave., a retired lathe operator, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, at home.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Regina (Bernotaite) Visbaras; three sons, Vitas Visbaras of Georgetown, S.C., Kim Visbaras of Auburn, Maine, and John Visbaras of Fairfax, Va.; two brothers, Paul and John Visbaras, both of Lithuania; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; nephews and nieces. He was born and raised in Suboicious, Lithuania, son of Aleksandro and Ona (Babickaites) Visbaras, and lived in Worcester since 1949. He was educated in Lithuania.

Mr. Visbaras was a lathe operator 27 years for Morgan Construction Co., retiring in 1986.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, from Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., with a graveside service at 11 a.m. in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the funeral home.

Charles Volkavitch, 87
Monday, November 12, 2001

AUBURN -- Charles Volkavitch, 87, of 155 Leicester St., a World War II veteran, died Saturday, Nov. 10, at home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Nita (Barkley-Rucker) Volkavitch; three sisters, Josephine Armenti of Long Island, N.Y., Margaret Walkiewich of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Carolina Liscomb of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Andrew and Carolina (Adamovitch) Walkiewick, and lived the past 43 years in Auburn. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific.

Mr. Volkavitch worked many years for Norton Co. and Warner-Swasey Co., both in Worcester. He was a former member of St. Joseph's Parish, a member of the Heritage Society of Assumption College, the Worcester Art Museum and the Worcester Horticultural Society. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and traveling.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption College Scholarship Fund, 500 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.

Edward J. Walsh, 53

LEICESTER -- Edward J. Walsh, 53, of 1 Mount Pleasant Ave., a retired Internal Revenue Service agent and former postal worker, was found dead Friday, Nov. 9, at Monument Beach in Bourne after the boat he was on broke free of its mooring and sank.

He leaves his wife of 29 years, Carol A. (Valatkevich) Walsh; a son, Brenden J. Walsh of Leicester; a daughter, Cantrece A. Walsh of Portsmouth, N.H.; two brothers, John Walsh of Pigeon, Mich., and Timothy Walsh of Webster; a sister, Ellen Griffin of Leicester; nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of John and Ellen (Hayes) Walsh, and moved here 23 years ago. He graduated from St. Peter High School, Worcester, in 1966, and New England School of Accounting, and earned a bachelor's degree from Clark University, Worcester. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in a special forces division known as the Sreaming Eagles.

Mr. Walsh was an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for two years, retiring in 1990 because of illness. He previously worked 18 years at the Worcester Post Office. He was a certified public accountant.

Mr. Walsh was a member of American Legion Post 304 in Dania Beach, Fla., where he wintered. He was a member and past president and treasurer of the Worcester Surfcasting Club; a member of the National Rifle Association and the Leicester Rod & Gun Club; an honorary member of Disabled American Veterans; past treasurer of Vietnam Era Veterans; and a member of St. Pius X Church.

The funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 12, from Morrison-Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., with a Mass at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115.

William Warrington, 77

WORCESTER -- William M. Warrington, 77, of 10 Mary Scano Drive, formerly of Athol, a World War II veteran and factory worker, died Sunday, Nov. 11, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus.

He leaves two daughters, Katrina DeJoseph of Worcester and Nada Warrington of Delaware; three sons, Michael, Guy and Marty Warrington, all of Pittsfield; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was born in Wilmington, Del., son of William and Augusta (Tracey) Warrington, and was raised in Dana. He graduated from Dana High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Warrington worked many years for the former Thom McCann Shoe Factory in Athol. Previously, he worked for the N.D. Cass Co., Athol. He was a former member of the Athol Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed reading and playing cards.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in East Street Cemetery, Petersham. A calling period will be held from 1 to 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., Athol.

Donald F. White Sr., 73
Wednesday, November 14, 2001

NORTHBRIDGE -- Donald F. White Sr., 73, of 41 Cottage St. in the Whitinsville section, a retired purchasing agent, died Monday, Nov, 12, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Ann M. (Yacino) White; two sons, Norman R. White of Uxbridge and Donald F. White Jr. of Milford; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A son, Rodney White, and a brother, Robert White, predeceased him. He was born in Northbridge, son of Norman and Cora (Damon) White, and lived his entire life here. He graduated from Northbridge High School, where he is regarded as one of the top athletes in the school's history. He attended Wake Forest University on a football scholarship.

Mr. White worked as a purchasing agent for the former Whitin Machine Works, Whitinsville, and at GuarantyBank and Trust in Worcester, retiring in 1988. He was active in town politics, serving as selectman and on the Board of Assessors. He was a founding member of the Northbridge High School Athletic Hall of Fame and its first inductee. He was a Northbridge firefighter and enjoyed collecting coins and trading cards.

A funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 16, from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Cross Street. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Everett Willard, 96
Thursday, November 15, 2001

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Everett Willard, 96, of East Hartford, formerly of Leominster, Mass., died Sunday, Nov. 11, in Salmon Brook healthcare facility in Glastonbury.

His wife, Beulah (Saunders) Willard, died in 1991. He leaves a son, Bruce Willard of Glastonbury; a daughter, Gail Barone of Willington; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was born in Leominster and lived there 35 years before moving to East Hartford.

Mr. Willard was a technical illustrator, working in graphics at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft before retiring.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home Inc., 106 West St., Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Protector of Animals, PO Box 24, Glastonbury, CT 06033.

Wallie N. Williams, 70
Thursday, November 15, 2001

TAMPA, Fla. -- Wallie N. Williams, 70, of Tudor Place, formerly of Pocasset Avenue in Worcester, Mass., a retired truck driver, died Thursday, Nov. 8, in University County Hospital after an illness.

His wife, Jean (Ferguson) Williams, died in 1998. He leaves four sons, Wallie Williams Jr. of Worcester, Delroy L. Williams of Brandon, Kenneth R. Williams of Berlin, N.H., and Clifford Williams of Manhattan, N.Y.; a daughter, Patricia A. Lopez of Worcester; a brother, Joseph Williams of Tampa; three stepsons, Gary Cramer of Antonio, Texas, Mark Cramer of New Jersey and Doug Cramer of Lakeland; a stepdaughter, Debbie Garretson of Lakeland; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of James H. and Margaret (Hayes) Williams, and lived most of his life in Worcester before moving to Florida. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Williams was a truck driver for Sweetlife Foods before retiring.

The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, Mass. There are no calling hours. O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Ave., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

Mikhail Zaidenchtein

WORCESTER -- Mikhail Zaidenchtein, 86, formerly of 72 Outlook Drive, died Friday, Nov. 9, in Hermitage Nursing Home.

His wife, Bessie (Utis) Zaidenchtein, died in 1991. He leaves two daughters, Maya Volishina of Worcester and Valentina Koverdinski of Melbourne, Australia; a sister, Layka Zaidenchtein of Melbourne; and two grandsons. He was born in Ukraine, son of Shneear and Miriam (Roitberg) Zaidenchtein, and lived in Worcester since 1993.

Mr. Zaidenchtein had worked in a metal manufacturing company in his native country. He was a member of Tefereth Israel Synagogue and Yeshiva Achei Timimim.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St. Burial will be in Holy Society Cemetery, Leicester. Memorial contributions may be made to Yeshiva Achei Timimim, 22 Newton Ave., Worcester, MA 01602.

Rita A. Abou-Adal, 69

WORCESTER -- Rita A. (LeVasseur) Abou-Adal, 69, of 39A First St., formerly of 14 Willow St., a retired nurse's aide, died Sunday, Nov. 4, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after being stricken ill at home.

Her husband of 46 years, Mitchell C. Abou-Adal, died last year. She leaves three daughters, Linda N. Brown and Michele R. Aiksnoras, both of Worcester, and Debra H. Sanborn of North Brookfield; a brother, Edgar LeVasseur of Rockledge, Fla.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Edgar and Ruth (LaMonthe) LeVasseur, and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1951.

Mrs. Abou-Adal was a nurse's aide at Stone House Nursing Home for eight years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral. She enjoyed crafts.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in the cathedral. A Trisagion service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the cathedral. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to St. George Orthodox Cathedral Memorial Fund, 30 Anna St., Worcester, MA 01604; or to Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215. Raymond J. Allard, 68, injured in auto accident

LEICESTER -- Raymond J. "Pete" Allard, 68, of 1438 Main St., an architect, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident earlier that day in Auburn.

He leaves his wife of 25 years, Janet A. (Steuterman) Allard; three sons, Peter Allard, and Michael and Matthew Allard-Madaus, all of Worcester; two daughters, Lizanne Foley of Falmouth and Kathleen Chartner of Washington, D.C.; his mother, Rose D. Roy of Worcester; a sister, Rose Hughes of Worcester; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of J. Oscar Allard, and graduated from Leicester High School. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He lived in North Palm Beach, Fla., and Pennsylvania, before returning to Worcester.

Mr. Allard was an architect with Iaccarino and Son Inc. in Boylston. He previously worked many years for Masiello Architects in North Palm Beach.

He enjoyed reading, photography and team sports.

The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in Kelly Funeral Home, 154 Lincoln St., Worcester. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the funeral home. Arlene B. Beland, 55

WEBSTER -- Arlene B. Beland, 55, of Oakwood Drive, a retired administrative assistant, died Monday, Nov. 12, in The Meadows of Leicester after an illness.

She leaves her parents, Lorenzo "Pete" and Gertrude L. (Boutillette) Beland of Webster; a brother, Alfred E. Beland of Webster; two sisters, Carol L. Reidy of Holden and Nancy E. Camerano of Webster; nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. She was born in Webster and lived most of her life in Oxford before moving back to Webster in 1992. She graduated from Oxford Memorial High School in 1965 and attended Worcester State College.

Ms. Beland was an administrative assistant at WPI, retiring in 1999 because of illness. She previously was an administrative assistant at Colleges of Worcester Consortium/ED Central, Worcester, for 10 years and Paul Revere Insurance Co., Worcester, for 17 years.

She was a member of St. Roch's Church, Oxford, where she was a former Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher. She was a volunteer mentor for the Worcester State College Student Mentoring Program. She enjoyed reading and traveling.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be in St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the funeral home. Raymond J. Buckley, 74

ASHLAND -- Raymond J. Buckley, 74, of Ashland, died Friday, Nov. 16, in Bolton Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth (O'Brien) Buckley; two sons, including Scott A. Buckley of Northboro; two sisters; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Buckley worked for C & S Coan Oil Co. in Natick. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2331 and Federated Church of Ashland. He enjoyed gardening.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St., followed by cremation. Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in the funeral home. Michael Carrabba, 78

MILFORD -- Michael J. Carrabba, 78, of 22 West St., a World War II veteran and a retired auto body technician, died Thursday, Nov. 15, in Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital.

He leaves a brother, John Carrabba of Mendon; a sister, Filomena Carrabba of Milford, with whom he lived; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Vincent and Joseph Carrabba, and two sisters, Anna Lamson and Concetta Carrabba, predeceased him. He was born in Milford, son of Luigi and Antoniette (Zicolella) Carrabba, and was educated in Milford schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a master sergeant in Normandy and Northern France.

Mr. Carrabba was an auto body technician at Berardi Automotive, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, from Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 5 East Main St. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Maryrose Brazao, 76
Sunday, November 18, 2001

LANCASTER -- Maryrose (Brisbois) Brazao, 76, of 1104 Main St., a volunteer worker, died Saturday, Nov. 17, at home after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 55 years, Herbert Brazao; a son, Mark Brazao of Lancaster; five daughters, Cheryl Moriarty of Lancaster, Suasan Green of Acton, Sandra Rotella of Connecticut, and Jean Troisi and Joan Leonardi, both of Lancaster; a sister, Jeannie Abreau of Watertown; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Cambridge, daughter of Joseph and Jeanette (Graham) Brisbois, and lived many years in Watertown before moving to Lancaster 28 years ago. She graduated from Cambridge High School.

Mrs. Brazao was a volunteer worker for the American Red Cross for many years. She also sponsored many foster children. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, from James E. Watson Funeral Home, 149 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 672 Main St. Burial will be in Eastwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in the funeral home.

Richard C. Frieswyk, 72
Sunday, November 18, 2001

NORTHBRIDGE -- Richard C. Frieswyk, 72, of 6 Gary Ave., Whitinsville, a retired salesman, died Friday, Nov. 16, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Nancy (Hall) Frieswyk; four daughters, Joanne Frieswyk, Sandra Gautreau and Lee Hartwick, all of Northbridge, and Linda Lombardi of Milford; a sister, Elizabeth Turner of Duxbury; and two grandchildren. A son, Carl W. Frieswyk, died in 1973. He was born in Northbridge, son of Carl D. and Hilda (Vander Klok) Frieswyk, and lived his entire life here. He graduated from Northbridge High School in 1946, and from Worcester Junior College in 1949. He served in the Marine Corps.

Mr. Frieswyk was a salesman at Worcester Truck for several years, retiring earlier this year. Previously, he worked as a traffic manager for Holmes Transport in Worcester and Framingham. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, the Worcester Traffic Association, and the Transportation Society. He was a former member and club champion at Pine Ridge Golf Club, Upton. He belonged to the Klondike Inn Cribbage League and enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, in Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Foundation, Inc., 15 Joslin Road, Boston, MA 02125.
