VANESSA R. CLARKE
CUMBERLAND - Vanessa Robin Clarke, 44, of Cumberland, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at her residence.
Born Feb. 9, 1954, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Pauline (Weir) Warnick Sturtz, Meyersdale, Pa., and the late Carl Mason Warnick.

Mrs. Clarke was a homemaker. She was Methodist by faith.

Surviving are one son, James Clarke Jr., Reno, Nev.; three daughters, Christina Crabtree, and husband, Jerry, Misty Black, and husband, Theodore, and Eileen Clarke, all of Cumberland.; four grandchildren, Vianca Black, Alexandrea Black, Alanis Crabtree and Andrew Crabtree; a stepson, Henry Dutton, Cumberland; five brothers; and eight sisters.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy L. Monn officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Crabtree I, Greg Swick, Larry Landis, Robert Merica, Steve Phillips and Frank James.

GEORGE W. EVANS
CUMBERLAND - Friends will be received for George W. Evans at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Grace United Methodist Church, Monday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Davis Memorial cemetery, Cumberland. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Robert Ashenfelter, Larry Hefner, Jerry Evans, Tom Evans, Fred Evans, Laurence Breighner, Marty Watts and Joey Evans.

The family requests that contributions be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 130 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502.

HAROLD E. EVANS
LUKE - Harold Eugene Evans, 62, of 102 Mullen Ave., Luke, died Dec. 22, 1998, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.
Born June 17, 1936, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Otha Christian Evans and Nettie Myrtle (Morrison) Evans. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Evans.

Mr. Evans was a former Police Officer with the Piedmont City Police Force, and was a former member of the Blackhawk Tribe #131, Improved Order of Redmen, Westernport. He was a member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Ann (Parsons) Bryan Evans; one daughter, Carol Ann Taylor, Maysville, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Patricia Kelly, Luke, Jennifer Thrush and husband, Jerry, Piedmont; a stepson, Thomas Bryan and wife, Janet, Luke; a sister, Mary Ann Smith and husband, Gene, Maysville; a sister-in-law, Lou Evans, Westernport; three grandchildren, Lori, April and Jennifer Taylor, Maysville; six stepgrandchildren, Julie Bryan, Greg Bryan, Jessica Brown, Jerry Thrush II, Jaclyn Thrush and Brandon Bryan; one niece; two nephews; and one special niece, Diane Evans, Westernport.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home in Westernport, on Wednesday, Dec. 23, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Westernport, on Thursday, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Steffan Carr officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va.

LEONARD DEVORE JR.
FROSTBURG - Leonard DeVore Jr., age 69, formerly of Baltimore, died Saturday, March 28, 1998, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born June 26, 1928, in Grahamtown, he was the son of the late Leonard DeVore Sr. and Ethel (Jenkins) DeVore.

Mr. DeVore was retired from Lever Brothers Company, Baltimore. He attended the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lonaconing.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Bollack) DeVore, Baltimore; his step-mother, Ada DeVore; one brother, David DeVore; one step-brother, Jim Stafford, all of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Mildred Rosmussen, Luck, Wisc.; one daughter, Dedra Ritchie, Eckhart; one granddaughter, Carla Ritchie, Eckhart; two step-children, Robert Hammen, Baltimore, and Deborah Dudderar, Fallston; and eight step-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park at a later time.

PHILOMENA "BILLIE" DEROSA
PENSACOLA, Fla. - Philomena "Billie" DeRosa, 71, born in Ridgeley, W.Va., died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at the home of her niece, Carmela Porter, in Pensacola.
Her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Andy Rapillo preceded her in death.

Survivors include a brother, Carl DeRosa, Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Pauline Recher, Niceville, and Josephine Barich, New York; and other relatives.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Our Savior Catholic Church in Pensacola.

There will be a graveside service at SS. Peter & Paul cemetery, Cumberland, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998.

Billie was a special person and her love and memory will live on in our hearts.

Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., is in charge of local arrangements.

JAMES E. EVANS
FROSTBURG - James E. Evans, 63, of Frostburg, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 8, 1934, in Shaft, he was the son of the late Earl and Nettie (Hartman) Evans.

Mr. Evans was a U.S. Army veteran and retired as a school bus driver for Barnes School Bus Service. He was a member of God's Ark of Safety, Frostburg; and a member of the Frostburg Moose.

Surviving are his wife, Anna (Scarpelli) Evans; one daughter, Susan (Evans) Miller and husband Mitch, Frostburg; three stepdaughters, Rose Jenkins, Cumberland, Donna Johnson and husband Milt, Meyersdale, Pa., and Elizabeth Lavin, Mount Savage; two stepsons, Paul Solomon and wife Jody, Frostburg, and Anthony Solomon and wife Michelle, Luthersburg, Pa.; three sisters, Emma Leece, Barton, Leona Shaffer and husband Charles, Frostburg, and Norma Brooke and husband Sam, Carlos; two brothers, William Evans and wife Alice, Virginia, and Vernon Hartman, Barton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Friends also will be received at God's Ark of Safety, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at God's Ark of Safety on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Everett Spence officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

AILEEN ABE
CUMBERLAND - Aileen Abe, 65, of Oak Street, Cumberland, died Friday, March 27, 1998, at her residence.
Born Aug. 8, 1932, in Romney, W.Va., she was the daughter of Ellen (Raines) Lepley of Cumberland and the late Ora Monroe Wolfe. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Brown; a grandson, Todd Abe; and a brother, Dwight Wolfe.

Mrs. Abe was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of LaVale.

She is survived by one son, Rickie L. Abe and wife, Wendy, Cumberland; two daughters, Vickie Smith and husband, Charles, Flintstone, and Donna See and husband, Tom, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; three brothers, Herbert Wolfe, Wilmington, Del., Paul Wolfe, Carpendale, W.Va., Larry Wolfe, Cumberland; two sisters, Joan Friant, Pennsville, N.J., and Linda Rowe, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with speaker, Robert Brode.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Bosley Sr., Brooks Warner, Mike Zarichta Sr., Frank Izat, Dallas Tabler and James Rowe.
