DOROTHY M. "MIMI" DICKEN
ST. MARY'S, Ga. - Dorothy Marguerite "Mimi" Dicken, 87, of St. Mary's, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at the St. Vincent's Medical Center, Jacksonville, Fla.
Born Aug. 6, 1910, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Theodore A. and Mary Barbara (Geatz) Wallace. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. "Pete" Dicken; four brothers, John Wallace, George Wallace, Francis "Bud" Wallace and Joseph Wallace; four sisters, Marie Beaulieu, Kathryn Hunter, Margaret Aemmer and Regina Cofield; one niece, Ruth Lee Cessna; one stepdaughter, Donna Light; and one son-in-law, Frank A. Russo Sr.

Mrs. Dicken was a homemaker and a graduate of Ursuline Academy in 1929. She attended SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cumberland, and was a member of the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, St. Mary's.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathryn Ann Russo, with whom she resided; one granddaughter, Dorothy J. Russo, St. Mary's; one grandson, Frank A. Russo Jr. and wife Holly, Quincey, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Marilyn Sachtjen, Madison, Wisc.; one step-grandson, R.C. Light and wife Edie, Lynchburg, Va.; one sister, Madelyn Rizer, Cumberland, Md.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Father Vance Pastorius, OFM, Cap., as celebrant.

Interment will be in the SS. Peter and Paul cemetery.

SANDRA K. ACKERSON
LAVALE - Sandra Kay Ackerson, 52, of LaVale, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 16, 1945, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alice (Myers) Elkins.

Mrs. Ackerson and her husband owned Port West Restaurant, Westernport. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, Richard T. Ackerson; one daughter, Alicia Ann Cartwright and husband Gary, Cumberland; two sons, Christopher Ackerson and wife Paula, Cresaptown, and Ryan Ackerson, at home; one sister, Rosemary V. D'Atri and husband Robert, Cumberland; one brother, Ronald A. Elkins and wife Barbara J. Carey, Bowie; seven grandchildren, Bryan Carder, Colbey Ackerson, Mary Alice Flanigan, Stephanie Flanigan, Mason Ackerson, Katelynn Ackerson and Derek Ackerson; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Father Reginald Russo, O.F.M., Cap., officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

ADELINE H. CONLON
LONACONING - Adeline Helen (Miller) Conlon, 84, of 102 W. Main St., Lonaconing, died Oct. 19, 1998, at Garrett Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born March 28, 1914, in Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late Christopher Clum Miller and Bessie Elizabeth (Garlitz) Miller. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Aden Miller; and one sister, Glenn VanHorn.

She was a graduate of Catherman's Business School, and was retired as Assistant Post Mistress, Lonaconing. She operated the Trash & Treasure Flea Market, Lonaconing. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lonaconing, and Sodality of the Church. She was a Charter member of the Auxiliary of Alvin C. Neat, Post #5280 V.F.W., Lonaconing, Georges Creek Senior Citizens, and the Postal Union.

Surviving are one daughter, Helen E. Wilson, Lonaconing; two grandchildren, Vicki L. Taylor and husband, Gary, Lonaconing, and Richard T. Wilson and wife, Robin, Bloomington; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Taylor, Melissa Wilson, Andrew Taylor, Garrett Wilson and Jacob Taylor. Also surviving are one sister, Eleanor Valentine, Lake Como, Fla.; and one brother, Earl C. Miller, National; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post #5280 will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at 8:30 a.m. with Fr. Ed Hendricks as Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.

JOSEPH F. BRAGA
CUMBERLAND - Joseph F. Braga, 87, of Cumberland, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Nov. 27, 1910, in Taunton, Mass., he was the son of the late Manuel Fertado and Frances (Aruda) Braga.

Mr. Braga was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He retired from Woolworth's Department Stores where he served as Manager.

Survivors include his wife, May Loretta Cecelia (Yarnall) Braga; a son, Dr. Joseph Braga and wife, Laurie, Coconut Beach, Fla.; and one grandson.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., corner of Greene and Smallwood streets, Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 8:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Vance Pastorius, OFM, Cap. as celebrant.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

BETTY L. CONNOR
FROSTBURG - Betty L. Connor, 71, of Frostburg, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at her home.
Born Jan. 10, 1927, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ethel (Miller) Frame. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Frame; and a grandson, Robert B. Browning.

Mrs. Connor was a homemaker and devoted her life to family.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph Edward Connor; three sons, Warren B. Browning and wife, Cindy, Hagerstown, Jonathan W. Browning, Cumberland, and William R. Browning and wife, Carol, Greencastle, Pa.; three sisters, Margaret Drummond and husband, James, Frostburg, Virginia Poturica, Cumberland, and Joyce Wilson and husband, William, Cumberland; two brothers, Thomas Frame and wife, Judy, Cumberland, and Danny Frame, Cumberland; three grandsons, Gary L. Browning, Phillip M. Browning and John Allen S. Browning; one granddaughter, Wendy S. Browning; one great-grandson, Robert B. Browning; one stepdaughter, Karen E. Connor; two stepsons, Douglas L. Connor and David R. Connor; two step-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 West Main St., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be at the Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

EDNA M. DIEHL
CUMBERLAND - Edna Marie Diehl, 90, formally of Linden Street and Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, died Monday, June 1, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1908, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Edwin Crabtree and the late Margaret Catherine (Heier) Crabtree. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Reese I. Diehl, in 1959; and two sisters, Bessie Nichols and Edith Crabtree.

Mrs. Diehl was a retired secretary for the Highway Department of the Maryland State Road Commission. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and the Western Maryland Senior Citizens 1855. She attended Catherman's Business School.

Surviving are three nieces, Delores Marie Diehl Addington, Annapolis, Janet L. Delaney, Rochester, N.Y., and Marie Louise Dicken, Front Royal, Va.; and a nephew, Carl Edward Diehl Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

A private service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen F. Yelovich officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

FRANK E. ADAMS
INVERNESS, Fla. - Frank Earl Adams, 81, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Jan. 23, 1998, in Inverness.
Mr. Adams was born in Chaffee, W.Va., and worked many years in Cumberland, where he and his wife were proprietors of Adams Grocery on Bedford Road, and later turned to the construction business. He retired to Florida in 1980 from the Montgomery County Department of Transportation.

While residing in Cumberland, Mr. Adams was a member of the Zion Methodist Church, the International Union of Operating Engineers, the East Gate Masonic Lodge, and the Bedford Road Optimist Club.

Mr. Adams was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Inverness.

His immediate survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Adams of Inverness; two sons, William L. of Silver Spring, Md., and John E. and wife Susan of Charlotte Hall, Md.; one daughter, Cheryl J. Daniel of Seminole; two sisters, Lena Long of Ormond Beach, and Ruth Comp and husband William E. of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and eight grandchildren.
