ALVERTA R. DILLON
ACCIDENT - Alverta Richter Dillon, 88, of 480 Cove Road, Accident, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Meyersdale Manor Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 25, 1910, in Danville, Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Richter) Dillon. One sister, Louise, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one sister, Lillian Holliday, Dunedin, Fla.; and many cousins.

Miss Dillon graduated with honors from Western Maryland College, and received her master's degree in biology from Columbia University. She did additional field work in biology during summers at various institutions around the country, combining vacations with study.

She taught at Oakland High School and in Washington, D.C. During World War II she joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Naval Signal Corps.

She was an ardent conservationist and was disturbed about the rapidly disappearing plants and animals from the earth.

Miss Dillon was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, Cove, Md.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church, M.S. on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Douglas Kabell officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

FRANCES CONNOR
LONACONING - Frances (Neat) Connor, 82, of 30 Allegany St., Lonaconing, died May 24, 1998, at Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, where she had been a patient since May 28, 1996.
Born in Lonaconing on Aug. 25, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Alvin C. Neat and Jessie (Steele) Neat.

She was a former employee of Celanese Fibers Corporation from 1933 to 1950. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing, for 70 years, and she taught Sunday School. She also was a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Connor is survived by her husband, Harold Vincent Connor; one son, Robert Lynn Connor, and wife, Bonnie Iva Lou, Gilmore; three grandchildren, Joseph Connor, and wife, Tina, Lonaconing, Shelley Snyder, and husband, Jerry, Lonaconing, and Shane Connor, Gilmore; and five great-grandchildren, J.R., Shanda and Kaitlyn Connor, and Justin and Jeremy Snyder. Mrs. Connor's family was her life, and she will be sadly missed by them.

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Tuesday, May 26, 1998, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing, on Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Mortimore officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.

BARBARA A. BRANNON
CUMBERLAND - Barbara Ann Brannon, 71, of 824 Shawnee Ave., Cumberland, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born April 4, 1926, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. Miller and the late Anna Estelle (Shore) Miller.

Mrs. Brannon was a former employee of the Singer Sewing Co. and the RG Convenience Store. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Cumberland Arts Council, and Blue Birds Sewing Circle, and was past president of the Womens Society.

Surviving are two sons, David L. Brannon, Port Charlotte, Fla., and Russell F. Brannon and wife Fay, Worthington, Ky.; a daughter, Deborah A. England and husband Charles, Stewartstown, Pa.; a brother, Robert E. Miller and wife Hazel, Cumberland; a sister, Virginia Houseworth and husband Wayne, San Diego; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Nair and Lee Brotemarkle officiating.

Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.

The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.

VIOLET "VI" ELBON
CUMBERLAND - Violet "Vi" Elbon, 68, of West First Street, Cumberland, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 1, 1930, in Piedmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Larry and Leota Ierace. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Francis "Babe" Elbon; and one son, Junior Elbon.

Mrs. Elbon was a homemaker. She was a member of the Cumberland Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Cumberland Redmans Club Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are her daughter, Erma Edmiston and husband, Jim, Richmond, Va.; two sisters Joshephine Bennett, Cumberland, Mary Catherine Crawford, New Creek, W.Va.; two grandsons, Jimmy and Brian Edmiston, Richmond; special friend, Leroy; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Arthur R. Lillicropp officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the United Network for Organ Sharing, 1100 Boulder Parkway, Suite 500, Richmond, VA 23225.

ELVA R. DAVIS
ECKHART - Elva R. Davis, 95, of Eckhart, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at her home.
Born Dec. 1, 1902, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Nora E. (Rarick) Michaels. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John Davis; and two brothers, Earl T. Michaels and Joseph Michaels.

Mrs. Davis was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and the Sodality.

Surviving are one sister, Anna Mary Kenney; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. with Father William E. Moody as celebrant.

Interment will be in the St. Michael's cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church or St. Michael's School.

WILDA R. DILLOW
CUMBERLAND - Wilda Rae Dillow, 75, of 10 S. Allegany St., Cumberland, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 18, 1922, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Paul Maffley and the late Ruth (Willison) Maffley.

Mrs. Dillow was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Surviving are a husband, Charles Edward Dillow, Cumberland; four sons, Charles J. Dillow and wife Carolyn, LaVale, Glen E. Dillow, Cumberland, David W. Dillow and wife Cynthia, Bedford, Pa., and Mark A. Dillow and wife Sherry, Clearspring; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Friends also will be received at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Frederick St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Cornerstone Baptist Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Daren L. Ritchey officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
