SARAH E. BROWN
CUMBERLAND - Sarah Elizabeth (Cooper) Brown, 79, a patient of the Allegany County Nursing Home, formerly of Greene Street, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Nov. 8, 1918, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William Newton Cooper and Louanna (Willis) Cooper.
She worked in the Social Security office in Baltimore she also worked at the Ammunition Plant of Kelly-Springfield during World War II, and retired from Hutzler's Department Store in Baltimore.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nancy Hilton, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross with the Rev. Arthur Lillicropp officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may take the form of contributions to the Church of the Holy Cross, 612 Brookfield Ave., Cumberland.
THOMAS C. BROWN
FROSTBURG - Thomas Charles Brown, 77, of 185 Bowery St. Ext., Frostburg, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at his residence.
Born Nov. 27, 1920, at Hartford, Conn., he was the son of the late Charles H. Brown and Juliette G. (O'Connell) Brown. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Brown.
Mr. Brown was retired from Aerated Food Co. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Ali Ghan Shrine Temple and was a Mason. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
Surviving are nieces Nancy White, Frostburg, Catherine Marie Drury, Frostburg, and Shirley Dixon, Bushnell, Fla.
The body will be cremated and buried at the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
The Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, is in charge of arrangements.
MARGARET F. EMERICK
GLEN BURNIE - Margaret "Tootie" Faye Emerick, 74, of Glen Burnie, formerly of Hyndman, Pa., died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at North Arundel Hospital, Glen Burnie.
Born Feb. 22, 1924, in Hyndman, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Amelia (Bruck) Emerick. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Burkett.
Surviving are her husband, Harold Emerick Sr., whom she married
on Dec. 24, 1940; two sons, Harold "Sonny" Emerick Jr. and wife Sharon, Hyndman, and Howard Emerick and wife Beverly, Hollidaysburg, Pa.; a daughter, Carolyn Hammersmith and husband Gary, Glen Burnie; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six sisters, Doris Shaffer, Myrtle Snyder, and Evelyn Brown, all of Hyndman, Mable Hyre, Bedford, Pa., Kathryn Shreirer, Hyndman, and Bernice Ringler, Cumberland, Md.
Mrs. Emerick was an engineering clerk for Westinghouse and a member of the United Methodist Church, Glen Burnie.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Hyndman First Avenue United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger A. Johnson officiating.
Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery.
BRIAN P. BROWNING
OAKLAND - Brian Patrick Browning, 34, of 307 North Fourth St., Oakland, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at his home.
He was born in Oakland March 17, 1963, and was a son of Thomas D. Browning and Juanita (Beckman) Browning.
Prior to his illness, Mr. Browning was a convenience store operator. He was a member of Lakeside Assembly of God Church, where he was a Deacon, a youth leader and served as Superintendent of Sunday School. He was a member of the Aurora Full Gospel Businessmen's Association; completed coursework Berean College, and had taken a missionary trip to Bolivia. He also was a retired member of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents he is survived by one son, Eric M. Browning; one daughter, Rebecca A. Browning, both of Terra Alta, W.Va.; two brothers, Michael T. Browning and David A. Browning, both of Oakland; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Lewis, also of Oakland.
The family will receive friends at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Lakeside Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Robert Shank officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the church one-half hour prior to the services.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the Lakeside Assembly of God Church, the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
JOHN R. "DICK" BROWNING
TUCSON, Ariz. - John R. Browning, 79, of Tucson, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Tucson Veterans Hospital.
Born July 14, 1918, he was the son of the late John R. and Maude Browning, Oakland. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1936.
Sgt. Browning was a retired Chief Master Sgt. He entered the U.S. Army Air Force in 1941 and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Viet Nam.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Markham Browning; and three sons, John, Jr., St. Louis, Mo., Robert, Tonapow, Ariz., and William, Tucson; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elinor Browning, Pauline B. DeBerry and Norma B. Bolding, Oakland, and Velma B. Schenk, Bethany Beach, Del.; and one brother, Joe C. Browning, Swanton.
Sgt. Browning was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, Jan. 10, with full military honors, conducted by Davis Monathan AFB and the American Legion Post #109, Vail, Ariz.

LAWRENCE BROWNING
CUMBERLAND - Lawrence W. Browning, 43, of Cumberland, died April 10, 1998.
He was born in Massachusetts, the son of Shirley V. and Holland L. Browning.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his beloved children, sons, Brian and Russell Browning, and daughter, Tracey Browning; brothers, Stephen, Kenneth and Charles Browning; grandmother, Maybelle G. Streett; and many other relatives.
Family will receive friends at Harry H. Witzke's Family Funeral Home Inc., 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Interment will be private.
