THEMA V. `VI' CLARK
BARTON - Thema V. "Vi" Clark, 68, of 19714 Old Miller Road, Barton, formerly of Rockville, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 15, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of Mildred M. (McWhorter) Lough of Omaha, Neb., and the late James G. Lough.
Vi was retired after 20 years of federal government service, most recently from the National Center for Health Statistics in Hyattsville, where she worked as a management analyst. She was a member of the Montrose Baptist Church, Rockville.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband of 48 years, William A. Clark, Barton; one daughter, Brenda K. Merson and husband John L., Middletown; two sons, James K. Clark, Colorado Springs, Colo., and William B. Clark and wife Sandra J., Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, James D. Lough and wife Micki, Omaha, Neb,; and six grandchildren, Jason M. Clark and Jennifer M. Clark, Colorado Springs, Christopher W. Clark, Alexadria, Va., Katy J. Clark and W. Casey Clark, Clearwater, and Robert E. Snow, Amherst, Mass.
Friends may call at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Thursday, Sep. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the chapel with the Rev. John Park officiating.
Interment will be Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, Va., at 11 a.m.
FRANCES E. BURKE
CUMBERLAND - Frances Elizabeth Burke, 76, of 221 Pear St., Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at her home.
Born Sept. 2, 1921, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Francis Hannon and the late Versa (Goodwin) Hannon.
Mrs. Burke was retired from the Alcohol-Tobacco and Firearms Bureau in Washington, D.C., as an administrative assistant. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen E. Greene and husband Richard, Jessup, and Barbara A. Burke and husband Larry Burnett, Springfield, Va.; five sisters, Marion I. Bowser, Grantsville, Margaret Deaton, Cumberland, Angela DuPont, Placquemine, La., Alice Emery, Glen Burnie, and Kathleen Coriell, Germantown; five grandchildren, Robert K. Meushaw, Chad D. Meushaw, David M. Burnett, Kimberly S. Burnett, and Richard E. Greene; and one great-grandson, Robert D. Meushaw.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Father Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery.
MARY JANE BURKE
POTOMAC PARK - Mary Jane Burke, 75, of Potomac Park, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at her residence.
Born Feb. 11, 1923, in Potomac Park, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Weber) Kienhofer.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Marlyn R. Burke, in 1978.
She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Mrs. Burke also had attended St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, James Burke and wife, Marsha, Potomac Park, and Edward Burke and wife, Monica, Enon, Ohio; one sister, Virginia Weimer, Charlotte Hall; and five grandchildren, Shannon E. Burke, Enon, Brandon D. Burke, Fairborn, Ohio, Denise L. Burke, Short Gap, W.Va., Gregory J. Burke and Lisa M. Burke, both of Potomac Park.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., corner of Greene and Smallwood streets, Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

VIOLET "BILLIE" BURKE
CUMBERLAND - Violet M. "Billie" Burke, 92, formerly of the Kensington-Algonquin, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, in the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born May 11, 1906, in Mill Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ross Vanderbilt and Mary Elizabeth (Cox) Marrietta. Also preceding her in death was her husband, R.A. "Jim" Burke.
Mrs. Burke was a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Martha Dailey, Cumberland; a sister, Gertrude Nichols, Washington, Pa.; three grandchildren, Richard Dailey Jr., and wife, Eva, of Lakewood, Ridgeley, Linda West and husband, Max, of Williamsburg, Ohio, and Mary Kay Cunningham, and husband, Mickey, Turnersville, N.J., and great-grandchildren, Laura and Mark Eichhammer, Richard, Charles and Billy West, Amanda, Brian and Sarah Cunningham.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Thursday, June 25, 1998, from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna officiating.
Interment will follow in Indian Creek Baptist cemetery, Mill Run.

CORRIGANVILLE - Anna B. Burkett, 82, of Corriganville, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born May 1, 1915, at Wellersburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Barbara Ellen (Deneen) Kiser. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Burkett, on Dec. 25, 1995.
Surviving are 10 children, Robert J. Garlock and wife Mae, Bel Air, Edward P. Garlock and wife Sharon, Manassas, Va., Dalton B. Garlock, Beneton, Va., Darrell W. Garlock, Zihlman, James R. Garlock, Waldorf, Shirley G. Paul and husband Lawrence, Meyersdale, Pa., Shelby J. DeLozier and husband Roger, Barboursville, W.Va., Darlene B. Troutman and husband Robert, Brunswick, Ohio, Rosalie D. Haines, Bordon Mines, and Linda K. Baer, Darlington; a special granddaughter whom she raised, Barbara Anderson, Davidson; 29 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Emerick, Hyndman, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roger A. Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Garlock III, Randy Albright, Stephen Baer, Earl Benning Jr., Edward Garlock Jr. and Edward Kirchner II.
MARY M. BURKETT
CUMBERLAND - Mary Margaret Burkett, 95, of the Cumberland Nursing Home, formerly of Cresaptown, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Oct. 5, 1903, in New Baltimore, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Layman) Fochtman. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. Burkett, in 1964; one son, John Phillip Burkett; two sisters, Irene Hankinson, Katheline Marshall; and three brothers, Edmund Fochtman, Alfred Fochtman and Clarence Fochtman.
Mrs. Burkett was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the Ladies Club of the Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Grace Burkett, Cresaptown, Anna Louise Miller, Rockledge, Fla.; five sons, Edmund L. Burkett, Hollywood, Fla., Paul L. Burkett and wife, Betty, Potomac Park, Joseph P. Burkett, Baltimore, Alvin Burkett and wife, Susan, Omaha, Neb., Frederick K. Burkett and wife, Catherine, West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Sylvia Mowry, Gertrude Diehl, both of New Baltimore, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Reginald Russo, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Ambrose cemetery.
