JOHN WAYNE CLISE
WESTERNPORT - John Wayne Clise, 36, of 25801 Shady Lane, Westernport, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Frostburg.
Born on Oct. 2, 1962, at Frostburg, he was the son of Josephine S. (Ziler) Miller, Westernport, and the late John Paul Clise.

Mr. Clise was a receiving clerk at Hunter Douglas. A 1980 graduate of Fort Hill High School and the Allegany County Career Center, he was a member of the Graceland Baptist Church, Short Gap, W.Va. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Pamela K. (Branson) Clise; a daughter, Katie Elizabeth Clise, Short Gap; one sister, Tammy S. Leslie, Barton; three brothers, Craig F. Ziler and wife, Shirley, Frostburg, Peter L. Ziler and wife, Chrissy, Cumberland, Robert L. Crossland and wife, Patricia, Pittsville; his father-in-law, Christian Branson; mother-in-law, Maxine Branson; several aunts and uncles; and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Clise's body will be cremated, and his cremains will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, by the Rev. Mark Ball.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to his daughter, Katie Clise, c/o Tammy Leslie, 18716 Legislative Road, Barton, MD 21521.

MARY E. BUCY
CUMBERLAND - Mary Elizabeth Bucy, 82, of 723 N. Mechanic St., Cumberland, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at the Memorial Hospital Hospice.
Born Feb. 24, 1916, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Frederick William Frost and the late Grace Olive (Huffman) Frost.

Mrs. Bucy was a former employee of Frantz' Bakery and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband, Delphin H. Bucy; two sons, Gary H. Bucy and wife Juanita, Great Falls, Va., and the Rev. Roger Bucy and wife Jeannie, Lebanon, Pa.; three sisters, Madeline Hoadley, Cumberland, Effie Brown, Westminster, and LuLa Carter, St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. John J. Duffus.

The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

MARGARET CHRISTENSEN
FAIRFAX, Va. - Margaret Virginia (Stewart) Christensen, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, in Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax. She moved to Fairfax in 1951 and has resided there for 47 years.
Born Oct. 26, 1921, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Steward and Mary Alice (Duckworth) Imes. She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty R. Decker.

Mrs. Christensen worked at the Pentagon and Arlington Hall military bases until her retirement in 1984.

Surviving are one daughter, Deanna Wiethop, Omaha, Neb.; two sons, Fred Bernhard, Doylestown, Pa., Nathan Collins, Fairfax Station, Va.; two sisters, Velma Long, Wiley Ford, W.Va., Delores Imes, Cumberland; two brothers, Ron Imes and Bob Imes, both of Cumberland; and 12 grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.

Services will follow at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.

Interment will follow in Davis Memorial cemetery, Cumberland.

LUCILLE B. CARTER
ECKHART - Lucille B. Carter, 81, of 10022 Parkersburg Road, NW, Frostburg, went to be with the Lord on July 14, 1998, at her residence.
Born Feb. 26, 1917, in Bluefield, Va., she was the daughter of the late Allen and Ethel (Doyle) Massie. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Tom Carter, on June 11, 1998; and four sisters, Agnes McCall, Virginia Decker, Mildred Ott and Hazel Wolford. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Carter was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She was a member of the Eckhart Methodist Church, Eckhart.

Surviving are her two sons, Joseph L. Carter Jr. and wife Linda, Potomac, and George Carter and wife Bonnie, Mundelein, Ill.; two daughters, Nancy Grose, Eckhart, and Judy Wade and husband Dale, Frederick; a special niece, Mary Ann Schry and husband Randy, LaVale; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in the Eckhart cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Western Maryland Hospice of Maryland at Memorial Hospital, 600 Memorial Drive, Cumberland, MD 21502.

JANE L. ELVIN
PURCELLVILLE, Va. - Jane Legge Elvin, of Purcellville, and a native of Western Maryland, died of cancer Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg. She was 79.
Born in Oakland, Md., she moved as a child to Cumberland, Md., where her father, George Legge, became mayor and her mother, Jane Legge, became local director of the American Red Cross.

Jane Elvin graduated from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland and the University of Maryland, and then was a social worker in Allegany and Garrett counties in Western Maryland.

She moved to Northern Virginia in 1947, wrote a column for the McLean Providence Journal weekly newspaper, and was a member of the McLean Woman's Club and Lewinsville Presbyterian Church.

In 1973, she and her husband, William J. "Bill" Elvin, formerly of Frostburg, Md., divorced and she moved to Loudoun County in Virginia. During her residence there, she worked as a tour guide at Oatlands Plantation.

Jane Elvin is survived by four children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A service is set for Sunday, March 1, at the Carriage House at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. to be followed by the service at 3 p.m.

Jane Elvin will be buried at the Beechwoods cemetery in Falls Creek, Pa., in a private interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one's local animal shelter.

NORMA JEAN BUCY
OLDTOWN - Norma Jean Bucy, 62, of 25200 Gorman Road, S.E., Oldtown, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Winchester Hospital, Winchester, Va.
Born June 6, 1936, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late George B. Robertson and the late Freda N. (Crabtree) Robertson.

Mrs. Bucy was a member of Paw Paw Bible Church, where she taught Sunday School.

Surviving are her husband, Don J. Bucy, Oldtown; three sons, Don J. Bucy Jr., Cumberland, James W. Bucy and wife, Janie, Ellerslie, and Brian L. Bucy and wife, Rebecca, Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Cheryl L. Hutzell and husband, Steve, Short Gap, W.Va.; a brother, Wayne Robertson, Moorefield, W.Va.; a sister Barbara Jarboe, Silver Spring; and 10 grandchildren, Benjamin, Lucas, Summer, Stephen, Jonathan, Katelyn, Ryan, Micah, Ian and Abigail.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with Pastor Ken Korns of Calvary Bible Church and Pastor Charles Colton of Paw Paw Bible Church officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Benjamin Bucy, Lucas Bucy, Stephen Bucy, Jonathan Bucy, Steve Hutzell and David Leach. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Bucy, Micah Bucy and Ian Bucy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
