ROY A. BITTINGER
ACCIDENT - Roy Alfred Bittinger, 75, of 1739 Devil's Half Acre Road, Accident, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at the Meyersdale Manor, Meyersdale, Pa.
Born June 17, 1923, in Jennings, he was the son of the late Thomas T. Bittinger and Della E. (Wilt) Bittinger. Mr. Bittinger was a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a farmer and a brick layer, and was employed at the Harbison-Walker Refractories.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby (Holt) Bittinger; two sons, Roy Bittinger Jr., Champaign, Ill., and Kenneth Bittinger, Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Helen Garrison, Arlington, Texas, and Dorothy Woods, Hagerstown; a brother, Calvin Bittinger, of Bittinger; two sisters, Margaret Durst, Grantsville, and Claudia Tressler, Loch Lynn; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Fetterly officiating.

Interment will be in Grantsville cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Calvin Durst, Richard Bowser, Bill Durst, Ken Resh, Duane Patton and Fred VanSickle.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Parkinson's Foundation.

ANNA M. BITTNER
FROSTBURG - Anna M. Bittner, 72, of 63 Grant St., Frostburg, died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born May 16, 1925, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Leander and Hazel (Broadwater) Layman. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Bittner; two sons, Gilbert and Larry Bittner; and one brother, Willard "Buzz" Layman.

Mrs. Bittner was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian.

Surviving are her husband, Howard Bittner; three sons, Marshall Bittner and wife Debbie, Baltimore and Berlin, Pa., Howard Bittner Jr. and wife Linda, Rawlings, and David Bittner, Midland; one daughter, Linda Shipley, Baltimore; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Blair officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

FRANCIS E. "FRANCE" BLANK
MOUNT SAVAGE - Francis E. "France" Blank, age 91, of the Frostburg Village Nursing Home, formerly of Callah Hill, Mount Savage, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born April 14, 1907, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Levi and Fannie (Wilhelm) Blank and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Blank was a retired bricklayer for the Mount Savage Refractories, and was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary C. (Hunt) Blank, Frostburg Village Nursing Home; four daughters, Mrs. Virginia Lee Bury, Baltimore, Mrs. Shirley Ann Jenkins, Mrs. M. Carolyn Monohan and husband, Edward, and Mrs. Verda R. Rowe, all of Mount Savage; three sons, Mr. James R. Blank and wife, Thelma, Mechanicsburg, Pa., Mr. Elmer F. Blank and wife, Helen, and Mr. Don H. Blank and wife, Beverly, all of Mount Savage; 23 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Litany for the Departed will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at St. George's Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Harold Bishop as celebrant.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Department or to St. George's Episcopal Church.

ANTHONY DE MUNECAS
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Anthony de Munecas, M.D., 73, of 291 Riverbend Road, Ormond Beach, a former resident of Cumberland, Md., died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, after a brief illness.
Born May 29, 1924, in Bilbao, Spain, he was the son of the late Policarpo and Matilda (Elortegui) de Munecas.

He is survived by his wife Katherine, Ormond Beach; and a brother, Manuel of Bilbao, Spain. Also surviving is his beloved Belgian sheepdog, Andoni Eder de Deusto.

Dr. de Minecas was a graduate of the College of Jesuits, Bilbao, Spain, University of Valladolid, Spain, and the Medical School of Granada, Spain. He completed specialized training in community psychiatry, Johns Hopkins University and Forensic Psychiatry, Supreme Bench, Baltimore.

He was a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Maryland Psychiatric Association, and the Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. He served on the medical staffs of Sacred Heart and Memorial Hospitals and as a psychiatrist for the Mental Health Centers of Allegany and Garrett counties in Maryland and Mineral County, W.Va.

The body will be cremated and the remains returned to his birthplace, Bilbao, Spain.

GERALD W. BLANK
CORRIGANVILLE - Gerald Woodrow Blank, 79, of 10902 Kreighbaum Road, Corriganville, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 26, 1918, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Lewis and Grace (Yantz) Blank. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Winard Blank and Ralph Blank; and one sister, Gladys Deffenbaugh. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Blank was a retired sergeant from the United States Army. He also retired from the State of Maryland, Department of Motor Vehicles, LaVale branch. He was a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg, and was Methodist by faith.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Helen E. (Morgan) Blank; one stepson, Kenneth E. Shaffer and wife Cathy, Mount Savage; one stepdaughter, Barbara A. Emerick and husband Dave, Hyndman, Pa.; six step-grandchildren, James Shaffer, Winchester, Va., Keith Shaffer and wife Molly, Elkins, W.Va., James Emerick and wife Sonia, Mount Savage, Jason Emerick, Hyndman, Kelly Wright and Jennifer Wright, both of Mount Savage; and three step-great-grandchildren, Lanaya Shaffer, Dustin Shaffer and Andrew Emerick.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military rites at graveside and serve as pallbearers.

RICHARD R. "DICK" BLANK
CUCAMONGA, Calif. - Richard R. "Dick" Blank, 59, of 10765 Wildwood Drive, Cucamonga, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at home.
Born Nov. 25, 1938, at Mount Savage, Md., he was the son of the late Carl and Mary (McKenzie) Blank. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Perry Blank.

Mr. Blank was a machinist by trade, and owner of his own business in California.

Surviving are his wife, Lonnie (Minter) Blank; four sons, Ronald, Mark, Dale and Christopher; one daughter, Sherri; four brothers, Carl, Ellsworth, Gilbert and Russell; and two sisters, Martha Williams Shaw and Linnie Mace.

Funeral arrangements are being done by Draper Mortuary, Ontario, Calif.
