SHIRLEY M. BISHOP
CLEVELAND - Shirley Mae (Swisher) Dawson Bishop, 61, of Cleveland, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Thursday, July 23, 1998, in Cleveland.
Born March 6, 1937, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Frances Swisher. She also was preceded in death by a daughter Jamie Lynn Dawson.

Mrs. Bishop was a dietitian at Deaconess Hospital in Cleveland.

Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Canfield, Hagerstown, Md., Lisa Dawson, Rock Creek, and Marlene Bishop, Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Troy, Shawn, Vanessa, James Desi, Jessica, Frankie and James Patrick; and great-grandson, Tanner.

The family will receive friends at the Wischmeier-Buesch Funeral Home, Cleveland, Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m.

Memorial donations may be sent to Marlene Bishop, 3862 W. 36th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44109.

SHIRLEY A. DREES
FINZEL - Shirley Ann (Metz) Drees, 63, of 2706 Finzel Road, Frostburg, died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 31, 1934, in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Finzel) Metz. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Anthony "Pete" Drees Jr., on Dec. 27, 1997; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Drees was a homemaker and was retired from the Meyersdale Community Hospital where she was a nurses aide. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas.

Surviving are one son, Ronald L. Drees and wife Helen, Finzel; three daughters, Brenda S. Robeson and husband Kenneth, Finzel, Penny A. Caton and husband Robert, Finzel, and Tammy M. Baer and husband Larry, Pocahontas; one sister, Lucinda Drees, Finzel; one brother, Harold "Sammy" Brown, Frostburg; six grandchildren, Mandy Robeson, David Robeson, Melissa Drees, Krista Drees, Brittany Baer and Ashley Baer; and one very special friend, Mildred "Midge" Baker, Finzel.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas, on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Bernard White as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Finzel cemetery.

PAUL R. BITTINGER
CRESAPTOWN - Paul Russell Bittinger, 42, of 13606 Brant Road, Cresaptown, died Monday, April 6, 1998, at Danville, as the result of an automobile accident.
Born May 1, 1955, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of Paul S. Bittinger, Westernport, and the late Charolette L. (Jones) Bittinger.

Mr. Bittinger was a sales manager for Southern Auto Supply of Mountain Lake Park. He was a member of the Bonnieview Apostolic Chapel, Keyser.

Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Rita "Miss" (Mayhew) Bittinger; a son, Paul R. Bittinger Jr., at home; two daughters, Tawanna Sue Bittinger, at home, and Jessica Dawn Bittinger, LaVale; three brothers, Vernon Lee Bittinger, Frostburg, Timothy Allen Bittinger and wife Tami, Cross Junction, Va., and David Lee Bittinger and wife Sherry, Rawlings; two sisters, Joann Alice Broadwater, Rawlings, and Mary Ann Bobo and husband John, Elk Garden, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Kayla Dawn Bittinger and Hayli Rae Bittinger.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, April 10, 1998, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Bonnieview Apostolic Chapel, Keyser, on Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. L. Daniel Garlitz and the Rev. James Williamson officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Paul R. Bittinger Memorial Fund, c/o John Bolyard, 14102 Royal Oak Drive, SW, Cresaptown, MD 21502.

RAYMOND BITTINGER
SWANTON - Raymond Bittinger, 76, of Bittinger Road, Swanton, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at his home.
Born May 25, 1922, in Swanton, he was the son of the late Peter and Millie M. (Pritts) Bittinger. He also was preceded in death by his son, Robert R. Bittinger, in December 1995; one infant daughter, Bonnie Bittinger; two infant brothers; and two infant sisters.

He was a member of the Meadow Mountain Mennonite Church for 51 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #208, and Woodmen of the World Lodge #11. He owned and operated Bittinger Excavating for more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Zella M. (Otto) Bittinger, Swanton; one daughter, Helen Bittinger, Swanton; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Bittinger, Mountain Lake Park; three grandsons, Richard Bittinger, Oakland, William Bittinger, Oakland, Scott Bittinger, Mountain Lake Park; four great-grandchildren, Lowell, Kayleigh, Jenna and Max, all of Oakland.

Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Services will be held at the Meadow Mountain Mewnnonite Church on Sunday, July 5, 1998, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Duane E. Frederick officiating.

Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Hospice of Garrett County, P.O. Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550; the Meadow Mountain Mennonite Church Fund, 6302 Bittinger Road, Swanton, MD 21561; or to the Southern Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 378, Oakland, MD 21550.

ROSE C. BITTINGER
LONACONING - Rose Catherine Bittinger, 87, formerly of Woodland, died April 17, 1998, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 26, 1910, at Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late James and Nancy (Burkholder) Bittinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Columbus Bittinger; and daughter, Phyllis.

Mrs. Bittinger was retired from the Celanese Corporation and was a member of the Bethel Holiness Church in Lonaconing.

Surviving are two sons, Bernard Bittinger and wife, Helena, National, and Delmas and wife, Betty, Woodland; four daughters, Hilda Sewell and husband, Ted, New Creek, W.Va., Mildred Cutter and husband, Lenard, Woodland, Shirley Loar and husband, George, Frostburg, Wilda Myers and husband, Raymond, Greencastle, Pa.; also 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., on Sunday, April 19, 1998, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The body will be taken to the Bethel Holiness Church for viewing on Monday at 10 a.m., and funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. George R. Loar will be officiating.

Interment will be at the Sunset Memorial Park, Bedford Road, Cumberland.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

PAULEMAN J. CASTLE
HANCOCK - Pauleman J. Castle, 78, of Willow Road, Hancock, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born June 30, 1919, in Cherry Run, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edgar Randolph and Blanche M. (Smith) Harvey Castle, and the husband of the late Leona June Castle, who died April 30, 1976. He also was preceded in death by one grandson.

Mr. Castle was an agriculture equipment operator for Fairview Orchards in Hancock. Prior to moving to Hancock, he was employed by a number of coal mines in Western Maryland and the Western Maryland Railroad. He attended the Red Hill one-room school in Cherry Run, and attended the Hancock Assembly of God Church. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Philippines and Pacific Theater, he was a member of VFW Post 26, and the American Legion, both in Hancock.

Surviving are two daughters, Janet Y. Blankley, Warfordsburg, Pa., and Glenda Nickleson, Hancock; three sons, David Castle and Michael Castle, both of Little Orleans, and Danny Castle, Lakeland, Fla.; one half sister, Mary Golden, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 7, 1998, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Charles W. Helms officiating.

Burial will be in the Turner cemetery, Swanton, where military rites will be accorded by the Oakland American Legion.
