WILLIAM R. KEATING
CRESAPTOWN - William R. Keating, of Cresaptown, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at Lions Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late William and Lena (Hadley) Keating. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothea Keating.

Surviving is his wife, Delores Keating.

Mr. Keating was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cumberland. He was retired from the Celanese Corporation where he worked for 39 years. Mr. Keating was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II in the Panama Canal. He was a member of the Lonaconing American Legion, Cumberland VFW Post #1411, and the Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen C. Sweyko officiating.

Interment will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery, Accident.

The family has requested memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, 328 N. Centre St., Cumberland, MD 21502, in memory of William R. Keating.

Pallbearers will be Martin Stickley, Marvin Clem, Robert Muir, Kenneth Northcraft, James Smith and William Clements.

GERTRUDE A. FERNIHOUGH
BRIDGEPORT, Ohio - Gertrude A. (Warner) Fernihough, of Route 1, Bridgeport, formerly of Cumberland, died Dec. 31, 1997, in Bridgeport.
She was born Feb. 23, 1932, to Emma G. (Keefer) Warner and the late George Patrick Warner. Also preceding her in death were a brother; and her husband, Robert Fernihough in 1994.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of Ohio; three sisters and one brother, all of Cumberland; one sister, of Frostburg; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home, Bridgeport, on Jan. 3, 1998.

Interment was in the Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Bridgeport.

MARTHA E. GEORGE
CUMBERLAND - Martha Elizabeth George, 70, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at her residence.
Born Feb. 11, 1927, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Helen (Fitzpatrick) Sathoff. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Irvin Sathoff.

Mrs. George was a homemaker and a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church, the Cumberland Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, and Cumberland Ladies of the Moose.

Surviving are her husband, Richard W. George; one son, Phillip R. Shipley, Ridgeley, W.Va.; one daughter, Nora I. Blubaugh and husband, Joseph, Cumberland; one brother, James J. Sathoff, Cumberland; one sister, Elsie Mattingly, Cumberland; four grandchildren, Tammy L. Rotruck, Cumberland, Teresa H. Honess and husband, John, Ocean City, Beth E. Shipley, Portage, Pa., Chelsea L. Shipley, Ridgeley; five great-grandchildren, Amanda Rotruck, Cassandra Rotruck, Scott Blubaugh, Dillon and Zachary Shipley.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna officiating.

The Cumberland Eagles Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jim Edmiston, Curt Miller, Bob Beem, Curt Steele, Charles Morgan and Buck Gephart.

Interment will be in Mount Herman cemetery.

MARY H. FEAGLES
CUMBERLAND - Mary H. Feagles, 92, of the Allegany County Nursing Home, formerly of Grand Avenue, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born May 22, 1906, in Flintstone, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Clara E. (Pfaff) Odgers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard William Feagles in 1980; three brothers, Harry Odgers, Ed Odgers, and Clayton Odgers; and two sisters, Olive McFarland and Iva Cain.

Mrs. Feagles was a former employee of the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, Cumberland. She was a member of the Prosperity United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors.

Surviving are one son, James H. Feagles and wife, Janice, Cumberland; one granddaughter, Meg Feagles, Cumberland; one sister, Zola C. Browning, Flintstone; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Tom Landaker officiating.

Interment will be in Prosperity United Methodist Church cemetery.

IVAN O. HUMBERSON
FRIENDSVILLE - Ivan O. Humberson, 87, of 651 Water St., Friendsville, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 1, 1910, in Friendsville, he was a son of the late Frank and Annie (Guard) Humberson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jack, in 1965; a Granddaughter, Gina Freeman; and a great-great-granddaughter, Katie Omerzo.

Mr. Humberson was a member of Selbysport United Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World, Camp 45, Friendsville. An avid bowler, he was formerly the owner of the Kingwood Bowlarama, Kingwood, W.Va. He was retired from the Maintenance Department of West Virginia University Recreational Center.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen E. (Friend) Humberson; two sons, Robert Humberson, Friendsville, and Harold Humberson and wife, Gladys, Grantsville; a brother, Fred Humberson, Friendsville; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Friendsville, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Milliren officiating.

Interment will be in Sand Spring cemetery.

JOSEPH C. FELTEN
CUMBERLAND - Joseph Conrad Felten, 85, of Cumberland, died Monday, May 18, 1998, at the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Oct. 25, 1912, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Conrad and Johanna (Deatelhauser) Felten.

Mr. Felten was retired from the Bishop Walsh Maintenance Department and was a former employee of the Celanese Corporation and Allegany Ballistics Laboratory. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and was a former member of the church parish council. He also was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was an active bowler, having bowled in the City League, Celanese League and the Knights of Columbus League. He also was active in Dapper Dan and Hot Stove Baseball Leagues and coached or managed the teams for about 40 years. He also coached the LaSalle Bowling League. He was a member of the Chief Justice Tanney 4th Degree, Cumberland Council #586 Knights of Columbus, where he was presently serving as the Council Warden and was past Deputy Grand Knight, the Cumberland Eagles, Aerie #245, and the Wamba Caravan #89 Order of the Alhambra, where he was a former Grand Commander.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary (O'Neil) Felten; two sons, Thomas C. "Tim," and wife, Cyndi, Charlotte, N.C., and Richard P., and wife, Linda, Rockville; one brother, Martin C. Felten, Cumberland; three granddaughters, Cherie and Kimberly Felten, both of Rockville, and Malia Dierkin, and husband, Fred, Bel Air, and her sister, Melanie Kastner, a student at Frostburg State University; and one great-granddaughter, Rebecca Dierkin, Bel Air.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted by the Wamba Caravan #89 Order of the Alhambra on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Christian Wake will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8 p.m. with the members of the Cumberland Council #586 Knights of Columbus participating.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Thursday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery. The Wamba Caravan #89 Order of the Alhambra will serve as honor guard for the funeral service.

Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus, Anthony Franciosi, James Collins, Howard Hovatter, James Clark, John Dougherty and Albert Brant.

ALBERT O. HUMBERTSON SR.
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. - Albert O. Humbertson Sr., 89, of Parkersburg, died Nov. 30, 1998, at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 17, 1909, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Ace and Mary Humbertson.

Mr. Humbertson lived in Cumberland until moving to Parkersburg in 1944 to manage Burton's Men and Boys Clothing Store. He later bought the store and changed the name to Al's Inc. In 1962, he sold the store and began working at Horner and Harrison and worked there until his retirement in 1977. During his retirement, he enjoyed his farm in Belleville, W.Va., and continued working at home doing alterations until his death.

He was an active member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church since April 1945, and was a member and past president of the Crusaders Sunday School Class and former Sunday School Superintendent. In 1968, he was awarded the certificate of merit and recognition as the United Methodist Layman of the Year for the state of West Virginia.

He was a member and past president of Parkersburg Lions Club and was Lion of the Year in 1980-81. The Lions Club presented him the Leonard Jarrett Award for services for sight and hearing in 1990 and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for humanitarian services in 1991. He was past master of Masonic Lodge 169.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Eloise (Daniels) Humbertson; four children, Dr. Albert Humbertson Jr., Afton, Va., Marcia Anderson, Parkersburg, Patricia Ewing, Endwell, N.Y., and Senior Chief U.S.N. Daniel Humbertson, Fort Worth, Texas; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ace and Earl Humbertson, and two sisters, Catherine Johnson and Levada Carney, all of Cumberland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Humbertson.

Friends may call at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday until the services.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Stadelman officiating.

Burial will be in the Mount Olivet cemetery.
