EVA I. GROSS
WESTERNPORT - Eva I. Gross, 98, of Moran Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Piedmont, W.Va., died Saturday June 27, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born April 30, 1900, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Lee Adams and Rachael M. Daniels. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Earl F. Gross.
Mrs. Gross was a member of the Westernport United Methodist Church and the Piedmont Senior Citizens and was a homemaker.
She was the last member of her immediate family
Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sumner D. Sawyers officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos cemetery, Westernport.
GRACE S. HOLT
BARRELVILLE - Grace Savilla Holt, 97, of Barrelville, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 24, 1901, in Corriganville, she was the daughter of the late James and Flora (Witt) Lowery. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest W. Holt, in 1957; four brothers; and three sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Holt was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Barrelville Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Ernest M. Holt and wife Myrtle, Cresaptown, and Dale W. Holt and friend Jeannie Birdsall, Barrelville; three daughters, Helen L. May and husband Herb, Flintstone, Wilma J. Wagner and husband Bill, Cumberland, and Doris G. Smith and husband Roy, Cresaptown; 13 grandchildren, Debbie Mellott and husband Dave, Short Gap, W.Va., Connie Marrano and husband Dennis, Chicago, Diane McKinney and husband David, Fort Worth, Texas, Larry May and wife Diane, Flintstone, Bill May and wife Kathy, Cumberland, Holly Harris and husband Brad, Morgantown, W.Va., Ronald Smith and wife Jeanne, Potomac Park, Bill Smith and wife Linda, Bel Air, Shelley Sullivan and husband Terry, Bel Air, Tammy Barley and husband Chuck, Cresaptown, Tony Holt and wife Theresa, Roanoke, Va., Troy Holt, Ocean City, and Tina Truxillo and husband David, New Orleans; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Leslie officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
MARY L. FEY
CUMBERLAND - Mary Louise Fey, 70, of Smouse Mill Road, Cumberland, died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 21, 1927, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John Phillip Bender and the late Sadie A. (Suder) Bender. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard S. Fey.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Beth Fey-Botsford, 935 Pinecrest Drive, C-1, Cumberland; and a grandson, Jason Richard Fey-Botsford, Cumberland.
Private graveside services were conducted by the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Burial Park with the Rev. Lee A. McDaniel officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
RICHARD W. GEORGE
CUMBERLAND - Richard Wineow George, 85, of Braddock Road, Cumberland, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 16, 1913, in Ellerslie, he was the son of the late Raymond W. and Mary Ella (Swauger) George. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Naomi P. (Baumann) George and his second wife, Martha E. (Sathoff) George.
Mr. George was a pipefitter/welder for the Western Maryland Railway. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church; Catherman's Business School, a member and organizer of the Pipefitters and Welders Union at the Western Maryland Railway, and a member of the Cumberland Moose #275.
Surviving are one son, Ronald W. George Sr., and wife, Annette, Punta Gorda, Fla.; one daughter, Lois Lee Branson and husband, Ken, Amelia, Ohio; one sister, Olive E. Aldridge, Buckhannon, W.Va.; two brothers, Robert P. George and wife, Betty, Jack P. George and wife, Jean, all of Norwood, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Nora I. Blubaugh and husband, Joseph, Cumberland; one stepson, Phillip R. Shipley, Ridgeley, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Steven K. Branson, Richard D. Branson and wife, Patty, David L. Branson and wife, Carrie, Ronald W. George Jr., and wife, Karen, Gregory A. George and wife, Shelby, Pamela M. Barnes and husband, Charles, and Karen R. George; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wilfred L. Karsten officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

FRANK R. KIENHOFER
CUMBERLAND - Frank R. Kienhofer, 78, of Potomac Park, Cumberland, died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born July 6, 1919, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John F. and Nellie (Kelly) Kienhofer. He also was preceded in death by one grandson, Maryland State Trooper, Frank R. Kienhofer III; two brothers, John Kienhofer and Jim Kienhofer; and one sister, Dorothy Courdry.
Mr. Kienhofer retired from the Celanese Corp. of Cumberland in 1982 after 45 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations and participated in the Invasion of Okinawa, Japan. He served aboard the destroyer escort USS Coates DE 685 and the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga. He was a member of the Destroyer Sailors Escort Association Chapter of Maryland. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel A. Kienhofer; two sons, Frank R. Kienhofer Jr. and wife Barbara, Baltimore, and Steven D. Kienhofer, Cumberland; one granddaughter, Daneen Holler and husband Bruce, Baltimore; four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Bruce Jr., Ryan and Tiffany; one sister, Angela Sleeman, Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Miller, Kelly Miller, Frank Rutherford, Carl Filsinger, Bruce Holler and Otis Trost.
WILLIAM G. FERGUSON
WESTERNPORT - William Gerald Ferguson, 79, of 107 Oakview Drive, Westernport, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at his residence.
Born April 12, 1918, at Luke, he was the son of the late William L. and Essie Rae (Hershberger) Ferguson.
Mr. Ferguson was retired from Westvaco Corporation, having worked in the Cutter Room. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion, Westernport, and Queens Point V.F.W. Post 6775.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda (Fisher) Ferguson; one son, Gerald E. Ferguson, Loudon, Tenn.; one daughter, Betty Beavers, Westernport; one sister, Nina Daniels, Moorefield, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Harold Beavers, Amy Riggleman and Kelly Beavers; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Beavers and Cortney Riggleman.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home in Westernport, on Sunday, Feb. 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m., with Father James Hannon officiating.
Interment will be in Philos cemetery, Westernport, where full military honors will be accorded by the combined Veterans organizations.
Queens Point #6775 V.F.W. will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association.
MARTHA V. JACKSON
RICHMOND, Va. - Martha Violet "Beanie" (Bean) Jackson, 70, of Richmond, formerly of Eckhart, Md., died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond.
Born Sept. 23, 1928, in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Bean and Rachael (Wilson) Bean. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William Gilbert Jackson, on April 5, 1997.
Mrs. Jackson was raised in the Frostburg United Methodist Church. She had worked at National Geographic for 17 years. She then was employed at Safeco until she retired.
Survivors include her son, William T. Jackson, Dallas, Texas; her daughter, Susan Miller, Richmond; two grandchildren, Whitney Berriman and David Miller, Richmond; and two sisters, Delores Jenkins, Delaware, and Gertrude DeBoard, Clinton.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., corner of Greene and Smallwood streets, Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Frostburg United Methodist Church on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Aist officiating.
Interment will be in the Eckhart cemetery.
