WALLACE "WALLY" MALAMPHY
CUMBERLAND - Wallace "Wally" Francis Malamphy, 69, of Cumberland, formerly of Ridgeley, W.Va., died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at Memorial Hospital Hospice.
Born Oct. 6, 1928, in Ridgeley, W.Va., he was the son of Hazel Marie (Jones) Malamphy, Ridgeley, and the late George Frank Malamphy.

Mr. Malamphy had served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

He retired in 1990 from Security Systems, Charleston, W.Va., where he was a guard.

He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He also belonged to the Henry Hart Post #1411, V.F.W., and the Fort Cumberland Post #13, American Legion.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Irene; one daughter, Mary Frances Wolff, Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Susan Marie Wolff; and one great-grandson.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., corner of Greene and Smallwood streets, Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, July 11, 1998, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Vernon Busch, OFM, Cap., officiating.

Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Military honors will be accorded by the local Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

MARTHA C. MALCOLM
OLDTOWN - Martha Catherine Malcolm, 93, of Oldtown, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born April 21, 1904, in Allegany County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose House. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Howard William Malcolm; one son, William Howard Malcolm; and three sisters, Susan Thomas, Rose Zorick and Elizabeth Sluss.

Mrs. Malcolm was a homemaker, a member of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, and a member of the McKinley Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #12.

Surviving are two sons, Oscar D. Malcolm and wife, Margaret, Tyler, Texas, Paul D. Malcolm and wife, Jacqueline, Oldtown; three daughters, Dorothy E. Youngblood, Oldtown, Mary M. Rader and husband, Ralph, Fort Pierce, Fla., Freda L. Iser and husband, Harry, Cumberland; one brother, Ernest House, Cumberland; three sisters, Margaret Linn, Frostburg, Mary Davis and Helen McKee, both of Cumberland; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. by the McKinley Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #12.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Nancy L. Ward and the Rev. Glenn F. Stevens, Sr., officiating. Interment will be in Wesley Chapel cemetery.

LEONA "NONI" MALEY
MOUNT SAVAGE - Leona E. "Noni" (McKenzie) Maley, age 84, of 12904 St. George's Lane, N.W., Mount Savage, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 13, 1914, in Glencoe, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Elmer C. and Nellie (Poorbaugh) McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin W. McKenzie, Reford McKenzie; and her husband, Arthur F. Maley, on May 15, 1987.

Mrs. Maley was retired from Gee Bee's Department Store. She formerly worked in the down twist department of the Celanese Fibers Corporation, and for many years was the Christmas and Easter photographer at Rosenbaum's Department Store, Cumberland. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Savage.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Edith "Terry" Dominick and husband, Len, Mount Savage; one sister, Kathleen Jones, Gaithersburg; three brothers, Anthony W. McKenzie, Ridgeley, W.Va., Theodore R. McKenzie, Brookville, and T. Arthur McKenzie, Mount Savage; three granddaughters, Theresa Ludwick and husband, Roger, Cumberland, Elaine M. Weaverling and husband, Larry, Port Orange, Fla., and Lori A. Ruff and husband, John, Short Gap, W.Va.; three great-grandsons, Christopher, Ethan and Micah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at noon with the Rev. Fr. William Moody officiating.

Interment will be in St. Patrick's parish cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Ruff IV, Roger Ludwick, Thomas McKenzie, Gary McKenzie, Terry McKenzie, Roy Stafford, Jim DeHaven and Ronnie McKenzie.

JOHN W. MANGES, SR.
CUMBERLAND - John Winfred Manges, Sr., 91, of Cumberland, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 2, 1906, in Hyndman, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Flossie (Evans) Manges. He was preceded in death by two wives, Edith (Fisher) Manges, and Rebecca (Symons) Manges; one son, Daryl A. Manges; two brothers, Coburn Manges, Alfred Manges; and one sister, Pearl Molinari. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was known in the community as "Big" Johnny Manges of the old B&O; Baseball Team in the Tri-state League. He was the last surviving member of this baseball team. He was a member of the renowned outfield for the team, which, in addition to Mr. Manges, consisted of Joseph Clancey and Joseph Barley. Mr. Manges was a machinist helper for the B&O; Railroad. An avid bowler, he was a member and president of several local bowling leagues. He was a member of the Oldtown United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one son, John W. Manges, Jr., and wife, Mary Lou, Palm Bay, Fla.; three grandchildren, Gary S. Manges and wife, Nancy, Fredericksburg, Va., Nancy D. McCall and husband, John, Jacksonville, Fla., and David A. Manges, Fredericksburg, Va.; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Glenn F. Stevens officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

ANNA E. MASTRINO
CUMBERLAND - Anna Elizabeth (Rairick) Mastrino, 76, of Bedford Street, Cumberland, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 15, 1922, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. Rairick and Mary (Schreiber) Rairick. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Mastrino; and a grandson, Todd F. Moore.

She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and a member of the Senior Citizen's 500 Card Club.

Surviving are one son, Richard J. Mastrino and wife, Sondra Kay, LaVale; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Moore and husband, Dan, LaVale; Mary Loretta Phillips and husband, Michael, Cumberland; one sister, Helen L. Lichliter and husband, Riley, Salisbury, Pa.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, Baltimore Avenue, Cumberland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Vernon Busch as celebrant.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

Serving as pallbearers will be David A. Moore, Scott F. Horning, Eric J. Moore, William Bennett, Thomas Lichliter and Kenneth Spicer.

LISA R. MATLICK
CUMBERLAND - Lisa Ruth Matlick of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, in Greenville.
Mrs. Matlick was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Matlick. She was the dearly loved mother of three children: Bob Matlick, deceased; Thomas Matlick of Highland; and Karen Smith of Taylors, S.C.

She also is survived by two daughters-in-law, Susan and June; one son-in-law, Gary; five grandchildren, Melanie, Beth, Robin, Robbie and Steve; and three great-grandchildren, Frank, Caitlin and Tyler.

Private interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5335 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Suite 940, Washington, DC 20015.

CUMBERLAND - Letha Ruth Matlick of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, in Greenville.
