DEACON JOHN HENRY MCINTYRE
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Deacon John Henry McIntyre (father of the Rev. John B. McIntyre Sr., Pastor of E.B.C.) was born on April 12, 1921, in Chadburn, N.C. Deacon McIntyre departed this life on June 12, 1998. He was employed at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., for 30 years. On Feb. 24, 1948, Deacon McIntyre wed Carrie L. Fadden, and they were blessed with seven children.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie, their children, a host of relatives and friends.

As a member of the New Macedonia Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., he served on all of the auxiliaries, and became Deacon Emeritus. He was loved by all who knew him.

Memorial Service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 211 Cumberland St., (P.O. Box 128); on Aug. 2, 1998, at 11 a.m.

KARAHA J. MCINTYRE
LONACONING - Karaha Jane McIntyre, age 87, formerly of 27 E. Railroad St., Lonaconing, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing.
Born Feb. 16, 1911, in Midland, she was the daughter of the late Robert Neil and Minnie (Beverage) Neil.

Mrs. McIntyre was a member of the Midland United Methodist Church. She managed the cafeteria at Sears and also managed the cafeteria at the Old Central High School in Lonaconing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Russell McIntyre, in 1994.

Surviving are one son, Edward R. McIntyre and wife, Phyllis, Lynchburg, Va.; one daughter, Dorothy J. Thomas, Lonaconing; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence R. Frye officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.

EDWARD R. MCKENZIE
FROSTBURG - Edward Raymond McKenzie, 75, of 99 Broadway, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 2, 1923, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late Floyd and Minnie (Hutzel) McKenzie. He also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mr. McKenzie attended elementary school in Avilton and Grantsville High School. He was Catholic by faith. He was a retired career military man having served in the U.S. Army as a Pfc. He participated in the invasions of North Africa, Europe, France, Germany, Normandy and five battles on Utah Beach. His military career also consisted of the U.S. Marine Corps, Staff Sgt. E-6 retired, having served in battles of Korea, Lebanon, Cuban Crisis and Vietnam.

His training included one of a chef, and also a police officer. Schooling included Marine Corps Enlisted Advanced Food Service, Marine Corps Instructor Course Mess Fundamentals, Meritorious Mast. Head Chef Camp, and Advanced Cooks Course Food Service, Lejuene, N.C.

Enlisted Basic Course Marine Corps Schools, Quantaco, Va., Food Service Leadership and Administration Training Course, Port Hyautey, Kenitra, Morocco, Meritorious Mast. Naval Communications Station Mess Hall Side Yohla, Morocco, Cooks, Bakers and Butchers School, Marine Corps Schools Quantico, Va., and Advanced Cooks, Bakers and Butchers Camp, Lejeune, N.C.

Mr. McKenzie's Police Training consisted of the following training: Maryland Police Commission minimum standard entrance level = 245 hours; Bomb Control, Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs in Law Enforcement, Universal Detective School, Advanced Sex Crime Investigators Course, First Aid, Criminal Investigations, Physical Evidence, Supervisors Program and Special Police Officer of Maryland.

Mr. McKenzie has been, and involved with many organizations. They are as follows: United States Army, Military Police 217th M.P. Co. 1943-1945 Pfc., United States Marine Corps, Staff Sgt. 1947-1964, Fleet Marine Corps Reserve 1964-1975, Fleet Marine Corps Association 1961, Frostburg State College Chef 1966-1969, Frostburg State College Police Department 1969-1978 Corporal retired, Farrady Post 24 American Legion Past Commander 1985, V.F.W. Post 100077, Commander 1968-1970, Old Rail Post 6025, F.O.P. Lodge 90 1978 Life Member, Uniformed Services 1975 Life Member, Police Chapter 294 President 1982-1983, Charter Member Maryland Sheriffs Institute, Marine Corps League Commandant 1980 and Jr. Commandant Life Member, Mountain Lodge 99 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies 32nd degree, Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star, AARP, and Past Board of Directors, Allegany Diabetic Chapter.

Mr. McKenzie's honors are as follows:

Combat Infantry badge, Bronze Star with combat V, Marine Corps Good Conduct with four Stars, Army Good Conduct with 2 Knot, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, American Defense Ribbon, American Campaign Ribbon, African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with Silver Star, World War II Victory, Occupational Ribbon (Germany), National Defense Service, Korean Service, Armed Forces Expeditionary, United Nation Service, United Nations Medal, Unit Citation 217th Military Police Company, Fleet Marine Force, Combat Action Ribbon, 12 certificates of appreciation for Diabetes, Maryland Beauty Award, J.C. Penny Award, Gold Medallion Award, and Governor Schaeffer's Award.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Martha (Atkinson) McKenzie; two sisters, Delores Brenamann, Baltimore, and Rosella Paul, Philadelphia, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mountain Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m. followed by Mountain Chapter 99 Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons at 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.

Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard assisted by the Vietnam Veterans.

EUGENE "FLOOZE" MCKENZIE
FINZEL - Eugene "Flooze" McKenzie, age 65, of 373 Finzel Road, Frostburg, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 9, 1933, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late John W. and Grace (Michaels) McKenzie.

Mr. McKenzie was a retired brick molder from the Kaiser Refractories, Zihlman.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Hazel (McKenzie) McKenzie; one daughter, Carolee (McKenzie) Lucas and husband, Mark, Finzel; one son, Kerry McKenzie and wife, Ruthann, Linthicum; one brother, Francis "Dick" McKenzie, Finzel; two sisters, Thelma Raley and Evelyn Shriver, both of Frostburg; mother-in-law, Grace McKenzie, Meyersdale, Pa.; three grandchildren, Tyler Lucas, Eric Filsinger and Heather Filsinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Christian Wake services will be recited on Tuesday at the funeral home at 8 p.m. by Brother James Kirkpatrick.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Milton Hipsley as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

EVELYN P. McKENZIE
FROSTBURG - Evelyn P. McKenzie, 73, of West National Highway, died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born March 17, 1924, in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Barbara (McKenzie) Raley. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John "Bill" McKenzie, on March 14, 1996; and numerous sisters and brothers.

Mrs. McKenzie was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and a Frostburg Village Nursing Home volunteer.

Surviving are one son, John W. McKenzie, Jr., and wife, Linda, Frostburg; two daughters, Barbara Martin and her fiance, Victor Werner, Finzel, Nancy Carpenter and husband, John, Cumberland; five grandchildren, Melissa Kenney and husband, Mark, Scott Carpenter and fiancee, Amber, Jennifer Yoak, Kristi Carpenter and Laura McKenzie; three great-grandchildren, Alexis and Kristi Yoak, and Derrick Carpenter; one sister, Dorothy Arnold, Finzel; and two special sisters-in-law, Thelma Raley and Jean Raley.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Paul A. Byrnes as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Finzel cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Michael's Church or to the Eastern Garrett Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

IONA M. MCKENZIE
FROSTBURG - Iona M. McKenzie, 74, of Frostburg, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at her home. Born Nov. 19, 1924, in Shaft, she was the daughter of the late Samuel B. McKenzie and Emma (Croft) McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Samuel McKenzie; one sister, Kathleen McKenzie Wilson; three half-brothers, Gilbert Beeman, Gurney Beeman and Charles McKenzie; and two half-sisters, Rosalee McKenzie; and Virginia Carney.
Miss McKenzie retired in 1983 after 33 years' service with the Department of the Navy Military Sealift Command in Washington, D.C. She returned to Frostburg in 1988.

She was a member of the Shaft United Methodist Church and the American Legion Farrady Unit #24.

Surviving are one brother, Robert B. McKenzie and wife, Gladys, Shaft; and one sister, Bonnie Delaney, Detroit, Mich.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George A. Aist officiating.

American Legion Farrady Unit #24 will hold a service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Interment will be in Mount Zion cemetery.
