GEORGEANNA C. RALSTON
FROSTBURG - Georgeanna C. Ralston, 79, of 100 Honeysuckle Lane, Frostburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Sept. 26, 1918, in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Anna I. (Nelson) Carter. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Ralston, on June 8, 1974; and two sisters, Shirley Arlene Carter and Fannie Elizabeth Carter.

Mrs. Ralston retired from the Frostburg State University purchasing department in 1979 where she was an account clerk. She was a member of the Eckhart United Methodist Church. She also was a member and Past Matron of the Mountain Chapter 15, Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the Past Matrons and Patrons of Western Maryland.

Surviving are one son, John C. "Jerry" Ralston Sr. and wife Gail, Frostburg; one grandson, John C. Ralston Jr. and wife Jennifer, Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Shannon M. Imes and husband Rodney, Cumberland; three great-grandchildren, Carter Imes, Carson Imes and Brooke Ralston; one sister Lois Ferree, Eckhart; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sage.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service Monday at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral and committal services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Sandvick officiating.

Interment will be in the Eckhart cemetery.

LOUIS A. RATTENNI
CUMBERLAND - Louis A. Rattenni, 81, formerly of Pennsylvania Avenue, Cumberland, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 4, 1917, in Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Alphonso and Magdelina Rattenni. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine E. Rattenni, in 1996; one brother, Dominic Rattenni; and one sister, Mary Teto.

Mr. Rattenni retired as a pipefitter for the B&O; Railroad after 35 years of service. He was a Golden Glove Boxer at age 14 in Rhode Island and served in the Civil Conservation Corps prior to joining the Army. He was a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, having served in the First Infantry Division Big Red One during World War II and taught artillery at West Point. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a life member of Cumberland Outdoor Club, Cumberland Aerie #245 Eagles, Cumberland Council #586 Knights of Columbus, life member of Fort Cumberland Post #13 American Legion, where he served as commander six times from 1974 to 1992; was past Mountain District Commander; was past Chef de Gare (Commander) of the Voiture #164 Forty and Eight; served on numerous state appointments and was instrumental in establishing Rocky Gap Veterans cemetery, and was founder of American Legion Ballfield.

Surviving are one daughter, Carol J. Johnson, Cumberland; one son, Domenic E. Rattenni, Hagerstown; one sister, Vera DelSesto, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Curtis L. Steele and wife, Ruth, Cumberland; six grandchildren, Mark B. Wharton and wife, Stephanie, Michael S. Wharton, Shawn Rattenni, Blair Rattenni, Terrin Rattenni and Collin Rattenni; and two beloved great-grandchildren, Madison and Sarah.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. with members of the Knights of Columbus participating.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with Fr. Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Griffith, Robert Snoeberger, John Shipley, Tony DeArcangelis, William Andrews and Walter Durbin.

JANET "JENNY" MAE RAY
CUMBERLAND - Janet "Jenny" Mae (Parsons) Ray, 58, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at her residence.
Born Aug. 15, 1940, in Parsons, W.Va., she was the daughter of Margaret Maxine (Williams) Parsons, Fort Ashby, and the late Sylvester H. Parsons.

Mrs. Ray was a graduate of Fort Ashby High School.

She served as a volunteer at the Adult Day Care through Sacred Heart Hospital, and she was an avid bingo player.

She was the devoted wife of Merle Ray; beloved mother of Kevin M. Ray Sr., Cumberland, and fiancee Patty Burns and daughters Kayla and Kelsey; beloved grandmother of Kevin M. Ray Jr., Cumberland; two sisters, Sharon Borror, Cumberland, and Susie Whitacre, Hanover, Pa.; six brothers, Sylvester "Sonny" Parsons, Cleveland, Ohio, Jim Parsons, Patterson Creek, W.Va., Kenny Parsons, Pittsburgh, Pa., Larry Parsons and Steve Parsons, both of Fort Ashby, and Bill Parsons, of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Regis Smolko officiating.

Interment will be in the Brethel cemetery on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Ray's brothers will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Hospital Home Care Program, 600 Memorial Avenue, Cumberland, MD 21502.

HAROLD J. "SHORTY" RAYNOR
CRESAPTOWN - Harold J. "Shorty" Raynor, 70, of Amcelle Street, Cresaptown, died Monday, March 23, 1998, in Sacred Heart Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1927, in Gilmore, the son of the late Floyd and Omi (Broadwater) Raynor. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi V. Raynor.

Mr. Raynor was a World War II Veteran serving as a Truck Driver in the U.S. Army; was formerly employed by the Celanese; and retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was a member of American Legion Fort Cumberland Post 13, VFW Post 5280; and was a volunteer for 12 years for Toys for Happiness.

Surviving are three sons, Londy H. Raynor, Cresaptown, Cecil L. Raynor and wife, Marie, South Cumberland, and Herbert J. Raynor, Cresaptown; three sisters, Doris Monahan, Midland, Ruth Colmer, Barton, and Shirley Loudermilk, Hanover, Pa.; a brother Raymond Raynor, Vale Summit; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Donald Webb officiating.

Interment will follow in Rocky Gap Veterans cemetery, Flintstone. Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

MICHAEL J. REAGAN
ELK RIDGE - Michael J. "Sonny" Reagan died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998.
He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline Y. (Rogers) Reagan; devoted father of Barbara Emerick; stepfather of Lanita McKenzie and Kenneth Shaffer; loving grandfather of seven; and great-grandfather of two. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Marie Hotchkiss.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home Inc., 7250 Washington Blvd., Elk Ridge, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Further visitation will be held at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral; services will be held there on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

MICHAEL J. "SONNY" REAGAN
ELKRIDGE - Michael J. "Sonny" Reagan, 69, of 6511 Irwin Way, Elkridge, formally of Mount Savage, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at Fort Howard Medical Center, Baltimore.
Born Nov. 17, 1928, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Joseph P. Reagan and the late Angela (Dugan) Reagan.

Mr. Reagan was retired from Giant Food. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Savage. He was a member of the American Legion for 51 years, where he was a past State of Maryland Commander. He also was a lifetime member of the DAV. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are a wife, Jacqueline (Rogers) Reagan, Elkridge; a daughter, Barbara Emerick and husband David R., Hyndman, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Lanita McKenzie and husband Roy, Midland; a stepson, Kenneth Shaffer and wife Cathy, Mount Savage; a sister, Anna Marie Hotchkiss and husband James, Mount Savage; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Vance Pastorius, OFM, Cap., officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

HAZEL M. RECKLEY
CUMBERLAND - Hazel Marian Reckley, 85, of Parkside Boulevard, LaVale, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 24, 1913, in Fairhope, Pa. She was preceded in death by her father, John W. Redhead and mother Lottie Perdew Redhead. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Millard Reckley; four sisters, Alma Smith, Mary Burkett, Florence Long and Dorothy Huff; and two brothers, Melvin Redhead and George Redhead.

Mrs. Reckley retired in 1975 from the Celanese Corporation, Cumberland, after 42 years of service. She was a Methodist by faith. She was a graduate of Penn Avenue High School, Class of 1932.

Surviving are two brothers, Arthur L. Redhead, Cumberland, and John F. Redhead, Cumberland. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.

Interment will be in Davis Memorial cemetery, Cumberland.
