CORA M. SKIDMORE
MOUNT SAVAGE - Cora M. Skidmore, 59, of 11505 Rollville Road, Mount Savage, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Aug. 15, 1938, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Emma (Winebrenner) Winebrenner. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Clinton Winebrenner and Francis Winebrenner.

Mrs. Skidmore was a homemaker and was Methodist by faith.

Surviving are her husband of 39 years, William Skidmore; one daughter, Rhonda Sue Skidmore; one son, William Brian Skidmore and wife Mary Ann, all of Mount Savage; one brother, James Winebrenner and wife June, Vermilion, Ohio; one sister, Viola Branham and husband Marvin, Elyria, Ohio; one grandson, Brian Matthew "Bubba" Winebrenner; one step-grandson, Randy Kirby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. The body will be cremated following the services.

The family requests that friends send no flowers or memorials.

LAURA M. SKIDMORE
FROSTBURG - Laura M. Skidmore, 95, formerly of Borden Mines, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 19, 1903, in Borden Mines, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Libby (Miller) Duckworth. She was also predeceased by her husband, Harry Skidmore, in 1978; and one brother whom she reared, William Duckworth.

Mrs. Skidmore was a member of the Frostburg Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are four daughters, Gladys Howsare, Frostburg, Mabel Connor, Glen Burnie, Betty House, Frostburg, and Phyllis Pape, Topping, Va.; 15 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Ghrist, Adamsburg, Pa., and Winifred Coffman, Baltimore; and one brother, Ralph Duckworth, Baltimore.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Riley officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

ROSE V. SKIDMORE
ZIHLMAN - Rose V. Skidmore, 84, formerly of Zihlman, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 10, 1913, in Zihlman, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Rose Violet (Porter) Donius. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Skidmore, in 1945.

Mrs. Skidmore was retired from Berkowitz Co. as a floor supervisor. She was Methodist by denomination.

Surviving are one brother, George R. Donius, Frostburg; one sister, LaVada Martin, Mount Savage; and numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Bradford Martin, Zihlman.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

SEBERT E. SKIPPER
OAKLAND - Sebert E. Skipper, 74, of Oakland, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Feb. 4, 1924, in Garrett County, he was a son of the late Henry M. Skipper and Laura (Bowser) Skipper.

Mr. Skipper was retired from the Beachy Lumber Co. He was a member of the Lakeside Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred (Bernard) Skipper; two sons, Richard W. Skipper and wife Lou Ellen, Oakland, and Ronald M. Skipper and wife Janine, Longwood, Fla.; one daughter, Sharon Everd and husband Nicholas, Oakland; one brother, Jesse P. Skipper, Swanton; two sisters, Mary Cuppett, Swanton, and Anna Cuppett, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Lakeside Assembly of God Church on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Shank and the Rev. David Howe officiating.

Friends may call at the church one-half hour prior to the services.

Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad or the Lakeside Assembly of God Church.

VICTOR H. SLAUBAUGH
OAKLAND - Victor H. Slaubaugh, 48, of Sunnyside Road, Oakland, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at his home.
Born Nov. 5, 1949, in Horseshoe Run, W.Va., he was the son of the late Webster W. and Fayetta W. (Griffith) Slaubaugh. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Wade Slaubaugh, Donnie Slaubaugh and Ronald Slaubaugh.

He was a truck driver for Paul Dove Enterprises. He was a member of the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church, and he was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He served as chaplain at the Davis Correctional Division, Davis, W.Va., and was a missionary with the Prisoners for Christ Ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby L. (Bray) Slaubaugh; four daughters, Denise D. Rowan, Aurora, W.Va., Dana L. Slaubaugh, Deanna M.Slaubaugh and Danelle R. Slaubaugh, all at home; four sisters, Janet Simmons and Rhonda Thomas, both of Oakland, Darlene Davis, Horseshoe Run, and Shiela Thomas, Oakland; four brothers, Jerry Slaubaugh, Eglon, W.Va., Samuel Slaubaugh, Bayard, W.Va., Ralph Slaubaugh, Aurora, and Lowell "Mic" Slaubaugh, Eglon; and two grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Services will be held at the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church on Thursday, May 28, 1998, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Leatherman and the Rev. Billy Foster officiating.

Interment will be in the Gnegy Church cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.

It is requested that memorials take the form of contributions to the family.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.

REVEREND ALAN SMITH
CUMBERLAND - The Rev. Alan D. Smith, 67, of 14608 Old Hancock Road, N.E., Cumberland, passed away Saturday, July 18, 1998, at his home.
Born in Cumberland on May 10, 1931, he was the son of the late Chester Wallace Smith and the late Dorothy Mertie (Yeager) Smith. He also was preceded in death by a brother, David Smith.

Rev. Smith was a retired ordained minister for 39 years in the church of the Nazarene. He retired in 1993. He had pastored churches in Montgomery, Vt., Newport, Vt., Wilmington, N.Y., Keene, N.H., Eliot, Maine, and Ryot, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Phillips) Smith; one daughter, Sharon Miller, and husband, Timothy, Fishertown, Pa.; two sons, Philip Alan Smith, and wife, Beth, Spokane, Wash., Timothy Paul Smith, and wife, Deborah, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Katelin, Timothy, Rebekah and Nathan; one brother, the Rev. Gene C. Smith, and wife, Catherine, Bradenton, Fla.; one sister, Alma Lee Redinger, and husband, Ray, Brighton, Mich.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, 508 E. Oldtown Road, Cumberland, by the Rev. Gary Barkley.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove cemetery, Baltimore Pike, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene.
