ELSIE H. SINCELL
OAKLAND - Elsie H. Sincell, 98, of 119 East Pennington St., Oakland, died on Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
She was born April 29, 1899, in Philadelphia, and was a daughter of the late Henry Hanst and Rose (Faber) Hanst.

Mrs. Sincell worked for 60 years at the Sincell Publishing Company in Oakland. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, where she served as organist for 50 years, and was a member of St. Mark's Guild. She was a 60-year member of Oakland Chapter 67 Order of the Eastern Star, an Honorary Member of Quill and Scroll, and attended the Maryland College for Women. She also was a member of the Loar Auxiliary of Garrett County Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Sincell, in 1979.

Surviving are one son, Robert B. Sincell, Mountain Lake Park; one daughter, Mrs. Eleanor McAfee, Harbor Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating.

Interment will be in the Oakland cemetery.

IVA MAE SINES
CRESAPTOWN - Iva Mae Sines, 90, of Cresaptown, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1908, in Sines, she was the daughter of the late Reuben Ormy and Mary Etta (Teets) Friend.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Elwood Sines, in 1969; four sons, Elmer Roy Sines, Lloyd Dennis Sines, Kenneth Allen Sines and Elmo Darrell Sines; two brothers, Nathan Samuel Friend and Floyd Franklin Friend; and one sister, Holice Leona Winters. Mrs. Sines was a member of the Danville Church of the Brethren where she belonged to the Women's Fellowship.

She provided foster care in her home since 1960, caring for a total of 55 children. Survivors include one daughter, Olive Louise Blough and husband, Walter, Elkins, W.Va.; three sons, Stanley Lee Sines, Baltimore, Cecil Ray Sines and wife, Shirley, Waynesboro, Pa., and Curtis Lee Sines and wife, Donna, Cresaptown; one sister, Elsie Ida Winters, Bowling Green; foster children, Connie Warnick, Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Valerie Higson, Philadelphia, Pa., and Danny Yentsch, U.S. Army, stationed in Hawaii; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Carole Sines, Elkins, and Carleen Sines, Bowling Green.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Walker officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society, 111 S. George St., Cumberland, MD 21502; or to the Memorial Hospital Hospice, 600 Memorial Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502.

ROLLAND "RED" SIPES
CUMBERLAND - Rolland Gale "Red" Sipes, 71, of Oak Street, Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born June 9, 1927, in Little Orleans, he was the son of the late Irvin A. and Clara B. (Sullivan) Sipes. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia M. Sipes, in 1995; and two brothers.

Mr. Sipes was a retired carman for the CSX Corporation after 39 years of service. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen #656. He also was a member of the Livingstone Church of the Brethren and he attended Central Assembly of God Church, Cumberland.

Surviving are his wife, Jessie Sipes; one son, David L. "Rusty" Sipes, and wife, Lori, Bowling Green, Cumberland; a step-son, Stephen Crawford, and wife, Shirley, Houston, Texas; one step-daughter, Pat Skidmore, and husband, Jim, Potomac Park, Cumberland; two brothers, Darrol C. Sipes, and wife Dorothy, Garland, Texas, Dale B. Sipes, and wife, Helen, Little Orleans; three grandchildren, Charissa Sipes, Nathanel Sipes, Alexander Sipes; and a number of step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor J. Gary Butler and the Rev. Timothy L. Monn officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

JEFFREY L. SISK
BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. - Jeffrey Lynn Sisk, 30, of Bennettsville, formerly of Ridgeley, W.Va., died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at his residence.
Born Aug. 25, 1967, in Cumberland, he was a son of Glen S. Sisk Jr. and Eileen (Elkins) Sisk, of Ridgeley. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jesse and Della (Kincaid) Elkins; and paternal grandparents, Glen S. Sisk and Minnie (Valentine) Sisk.

Mr. Fisk was a medical technician chemistry supervisor at Marlboro Park Hospital, Bennettsville. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland, Md. He was a 1985 graduate of Bishop Walsh High School where he played baseball and football, a 1987 graduate of Potomac State College and a 1990 graduate of West Virginia University. He was a member of the Tri-State Umpires Association and the American Association of Clinical Pathologists. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are one son, Benjamin Logan Sisk, Fairmont, W.Va.; one brother, Glen Sisk III, Charleston, W.Va.; fiancee, Shannon Chavis and son Hunter, Bennettsville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Monday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Abe cemetery, Short Gap, W.Va.

CHESTER F. SISLER
MCHENRY - Chester Floyd Sisler, 94, of Sang Run Road, McHenry, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 31, 1904, at Mountain Dale, W.Va., he was a son of the late Fuller and Della (Casteel) Sisler. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Verda M. (Thomas) Sisler, on April 11, 1983; and a daughter, Mary Haun.

Mr. Sisler was a member of Laurel Run Church of God and was a retired forman and inspector for Drop Forge Propeller Company, Canton, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Iris (Sines) Thomas Sisler; a son, Ronald Sisler, Frederick; two daughters, Della Ruth Gibbs, Nikep, Evelyn Bowser, Morgan, Pa.; a stepson, Robert Thomas, McHenry; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Friendsville, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at Laurel Run Church of God on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Cathy Harman officiating.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in Blooming Rose cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Laurel Run Church of God.

WILLIAM H. SITES
CUMBERLAND - William H. "Bob" Sites, 70, of 13004 Valley Road, NE, Cumberland, died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 14, 1927, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Roy and Lena (Steudenwalt) Sites. He also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mr. Sites was retired after 40 years of service with the Kelly Springfield Tire Co. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the Sea Bees. He was a member and current Chaplain of Old Rail Post 6025 VFW, Mount Savage; member American Legion Post 13, Cumberland; and member of the Bouquet Bowling League.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Mary (King) Sites; two sons, Kenneth H. Sites, San Francisco, and Jeffrey Sites, Cumberland; one grandson, Dalyn R. Sites, Cresaptown; three brothers, Edward Sites and wife Helen, Tallahassee, Fla., Raymond Sites and wife Rita, Catonsville, and Charles Sites and wife Sally, Finzel; one sister, Helen Morgan, Westernport; former daughter-in-law, Doris Smith and husband Billy and son Casey, Mount Savage; special friend, Ruby Adams and son Willie, Mount Savage; three special nieces, Jean Rice, Joan McCoy and Peggy King, all of Mount Savage; and numerous additional nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by both veterans organizations.

The family requests that no flowers be sent. Should friends desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Old Rail Post 6025, Main Street, Mount Savage, MD 21545.

JOHN J. SIVIC
ECKHART - John J. Sivic, 83, of Eckhart, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center.
Born Sept. 20, 1914, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late John and Frances (Tomsic) Sivic.

Mr. Sivic was a coal miner and a construction worker. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the Medics, he was a member of American Legion Farrady Post 24.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary J. (Jonas) Sivic; three brothers, Frank Sivic and wife Cecelia, Eckhart, Stanley Sivic and wife Delores, Detroit, and William Sivic and wife Florence, Eckhart; four sisters, Frances Wright, Eckhart, Mary Urbas, Vale Summit, Josephine Duckworth and husband Leslie, Eckhart, and Evelyn Shaffer, Cumberland; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Prayer Service will be recited Friday at 8:15 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Saturday at 9 a.m. with Father William E. Moody as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Michael's cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post 24.

Pallbearers will be William Sivic Jr., John R. Sivic, Richard Sivic, Paul Lesiak, Allen Jonas and William Jonas.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Western Maryland Health System at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice.
