MAXINE D. TWIGG
CUMBERLAND - Maxine D. Twigg, 72, of 1803 Bedford St., Cumberland, died Monday, April 6, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born June 16, 1925, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John Hafer and the late Sarah (DeVore) Hafer. She also was preceded in death by a son, Alan R. Twigg.

Mrs. Twigg attended Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Surviving are a husband, Lloyd J. Twigg, Cumberland; two sons, John T. Twigg and wife, Patty, Dunlap, Tenn., and Todd N. Twigg and wife, Gerry, Moore, Okla.; a sister, Mildred Allison, Lawton, Okla.; two granddaughters, Amy Lynn Twigg, Florida, and Michele Twigg; a grandson, Buddy Twigg; three great-grandchildren; special friends, Ronald Sisk and wife, Day, Frederick; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Daren L. Ritchey officiating.

Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Pallbearers will be Alin Nave, Casper Heinrich, Carl Donahue, Tim Mooney, Elwood Anderson, Joe Twigg, Joseph Crabtree and Thomas "Sparky" Nave.

NELLIE L. TWIGG
CUMBERLAND - Nellie Laura (Turner) Twigg, 84, of Elm Street, Cumberland, died Thursday, June 25, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 17, 1913, in Twin Mountain, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Katherine (Smith) Turner. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce J. Twigg, in 1964; one son, Ernest "Buck" William Twigg; one daughter, Genevieve Virginia Twigg; four sisters; and three brothers.

Mrs. Twigg was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Fourth and Race streets, Cumberland.

Surviving are four daughters, Betsy Merritt and husband Donald, Alexandria, Va., Martha C. Bond and husband James, Lincoln, Ark., Marie Wolfe and husband Lloyd, Lorton, Va., and Mary Twigg and husband Roger "Tucker," Green Spring, W.Va.; two sons, James Twigg and wife Marge, Bordentown, N.J., and Bruce Twigg and wife Toni, Pitkin, La.; special friend, George Nixon, Cumberland; 22 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at Christ United Methodist Church, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Nixon, Joseph Nixon, Mark Twigg, Rob Twigg, Jeff Twigg and Eddie Summerlin.

Interment will be in the Oliver Grove cemetery, Oldtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Hospice Unit at Memorial Hospital.

ROBERT D. TWIGG
CORRIGANVILLE - Robert Donald Twigg, 70, of 21519 Corrigan Drive, N.W., Corriganville, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 14, 1928, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John S. Twigg and the late Anna M. (Weigman) Twigg. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Twigg; and a son, Robert "Bobby" Twigg II.

Mr. Twigg was a retired employee of Potomac Edison with 20 years of service as a first class lineman. He was also retired from the Board of Education where he worked as a custodian at Cash Valley School in LaVale. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.

Surviving are his wife, Helen M. (Everett) Twigg, Corriganville; seven daughters, Sherell L. Shaffer, Cumberland, Carolyn Anderson and husband, Stephen, Hayes, Va., Mary A. DeVore, Cumberland, Donna Holcomb and husband, David, Hedgesville, W.Va.; Jan Hymes and husband, Frank, LaVale, Brenda Pendergast and husband, Anthony, Corriganville, and Kimberly Barb and fiance Steve Upole, LaVale; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, John D. Twigg and wife, Genevieve, LaVale; and two nieces.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Father Vance Pastorius O.F.M., Cap. officiating. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Brett Shaffer, Anthony Pendergast, Frank Hymes, Stephen Anderson, Steve Upole and James Zembower.

WILLIAM H. TWIGG
CUMBERLAND - William Henry Twigg, 77, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born May 11, 1921, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William Amos Twigg and the late Myrtle Claire (Tripplett) Twigg. He also was preceded in death by a wife, Regina Pauline (Wolfe) Twigg, on Jan. 1, 1991.

Mr. Twigg was retired from the housing industry. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are six sons, Robert N. Twigg and wife B.J., Leesburg, Va., James D. Twigg and wife Phyllis, Annapolis, John M. Twigg and wife Sung Varn, Japan, Joseph A. Twigg, Cumberland, Thomas E. Twigg, Riverdale, and Timothy E. Twigg and wife Catherine, Leesburg, Va.; three daughters, Jean Blake and husband William, Cumberland, Elizabeth Twigg and husband Frederick Flick, Alexandria, Va., and Janet Davis, Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Edward Twigg, McLean, Va.; two sisters, Alma Powell, McLean, and Laura Gore, Leesburg; 11 grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

A wake service will conducted at the funeral home by Deacon Frank Werner on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

CAMERON TWIST-NATOLLY
CUMBERLAND - Cameron Twist-Natolly, age 7 weeks, died Monday in Children's Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa.
He was born Aug. 18, 1998, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of Anthony Natolly and Melinda Twist.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his maternal grandparents Richard and Marsha Twist, Cumberland; paternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Natolly, Cumberland; maternal great-grandparents, William and Corrine Twist, Milton Pa., and Ilo Louck, Cumberland; and paternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Natolly, Carpendale, W.Va.

Private graveside services will be held.

Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, is in charge of arrangements.

HARRY W. TYREE
LAVALE - Harry W. Tyree, 99, of Braddock Avenue, LaVale, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at the Lions Manor Nursing Home. Born on May 26, 1899, at Buena Vista, Va., he was the son of the late Daniel Tyree and Nannie (Drain) Tyree. His wife, Mary Jane (Anderson) Tyree, died on Aug. 19, 1988. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He retired in 1965 as a supervisor at Kelly-Springfield Tire Company with 43 years of service. He also was a former salesman for Heinrich's Men's Shop in LaVale. He was a 52-year member of Centre Street United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Men's Club, and the former Fellowship Club. He also was a member of Ohr Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rites Bodies of Cumberland, and Ali Ghan Shrine Temple, and was a member of United Commercial Travelers Council #179. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Lillian E. Tyree, LaVale; two nephews, James and Daniel Tyree, Akron, Ohio; two nieces, Barbara Blank, Cumberland, Betty Cover, LaVale. Friends will be receeived at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Richard Cover, William Blank, Danny Blank, Richard Wertz, Matthew Wertz and Blake Hillegas.

GERALDINE E. UNDERDONK
CUMBERLAND - Geraldine Elizabeth Underdonk, 89, of Cumberland, died Monday, June 1, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 3, 1909, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Pearl M. (Manges) Poling. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Underdonk.

Mrs. Underdonk was retired from the Whitacre Gift Shop, Cumberland. She was Protestant by faith and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are one daughter, Holly Louise Flanagan and husband John, Centerville, Pa.; two grandchildren, John Flanagan Jr. and wife Kimberly, Mountain Lake Park, and Janice Nieberlein, Centerville; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan and Zachary Nieberlein and Chasity Flanagan.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.

DORA M. UPHOLD
OAKLAND - Dora M. Uphold, 61, of Gorman Road, Oakland, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at her home.
Born June 24, 1936, in Bayard, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Roy R. and Viva (Weese) Rinker.

Mrs. Uphold was a member of the Bayard Church of God and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gorman Volunteer Fire Dept.

Surviving are her husband, Edgar G. Uphold Sr.; one daughter, Jackie Smith, Houston; three sons, E.G. "Junior" Uphold Jr., Oakland, Lance G. Uphold, Gormania, W.Va., and Roy Uphold, Ephrata, Pa.; one brother, Carl Rinker, Gormania; and five grandchildren.

At Mrs. Uphold's personal request, the body will be cremated and there will be no services.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Southern Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 378, Oakland, MD 21550 or the Hospice of Garrett County, P.O. Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.

The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of arrangements.
