RAYMOND C. WILT
BARTON - Raymond C. Wilt, 61, of 17817 Laurel Run Road, Barton, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 7, 1937, at Savage River, he was the son of the late Richard Wilt and Margaret (Broadwater) Wilt. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Wilt; and two sisters, Sherri Wilt and Susan Wilson.
Mr. Wilt was retired from R.A.K. Coal having worked as a lubricator on the dragline. He was a member of the Barton Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife, Betty (Lough) Wilt; one son, David Lough and wife Margie, Frostburg; three daughters, Rayma Blizzard and husband Andy, Barton, Pamela Harvey and fiance Mike, Frostburg, and Elizabeth Garde, Grantsville; two brothers, Paul Wilt, Mill Run, and Robert "Dump" Wilt, Savage River; seven sisters, Irene Trenum, Barton, Rose Riggleman, Keyser, W.Va., Wanda Stayer, Bedford, Pa., Evelyn Weicht, Everett, Pa., Maxine Jay, Little Orleans, Marge Zais, Winchester, Va., and Bessie Johnston, Westernport; and 13 grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon, 2 to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Goerge Loar officiating.
Interment will be in the Mountain View cemetery, Moscow Mills.
Pallbearers will be Mike Raley, Bobby Miller, Ron Bothwell, Jay Wilt, John Johnston and Chuck Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifton Lough and John Morgan.
RITA J. WILT
GRANTSVILLE - Rita Jean Wilt, 64, of 3648 Bear Hill Road, Grantsville, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 20, 1934, at Boynton, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Hersh) Bittner. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. "Buddy" Wilt Sr., on July 27, 1998.
Mrs. Wilt was a seamstress with Flushing Shirt Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary there.
Surviving are six sons, Ronald Wilt Sr., Dewayne Wilt, Charles Wilt Jr., Timothy Wilt and Michael Wilt, all of Grantsville, and William Wilt, Boonsboro; one daughter, Barbara Spiker, Grantsville; one brother, John Bittner, Meyersdale, Pa.; two sisters, Pauline Leroy, Arizona, and Dorothy Smith, Hagerstown; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Snodgrass officiating.
Interment will be in the Bittinger cemetery.
The sons will serve as pallbearers.
THOMAS J. WILT
WESTERNPORT - Thomas J. "Tommy" Wilt, 73, formerly of 240 Main St., Westernport, and the Lana-Lu Apartments, Lonaconing, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing.
Born June 9, 1925, in Westernport, he was the son of Ollie M. Wilt, of Midland, and the late William C. Wilt. He also was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Lawrence A. Mason.
Mr. Wilt formerly was employed by the B&O; Railroad, Sterling Processing and L&M; Plumbing. He attended the First Baptist Church in Westernport.
Surviving in addition to his mother are one daughter, Elizabeth Casteel and husband Timothy, Terra Alta, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Christopher Casteel and Shannon Casteel, Terra Alta; four sisters, Mabel Mason, Keyser, W.Va., Myrtle Duckworth and husband Carl, Westernport, Gladys Wilt and husband Tracy, Lothian, and Pauline Russell and husband Jim, Midland; three nieces; and five nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday, July 23, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 24, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Homer Beeman officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos cemetery, Westernport.
GENEVA B. WINEBRENNER
MOUNT SAVAGE - Geneva B. Winebrenner, 69, of Mount Savage, died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at her home.
Born July 15, 1928, in Slabtown, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Annie (Plummer) Winebrenner. She also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Miss Winebrenner was a member of God's Little Chapel, LaVale.
Surviving are one sister, Martha Winebrenner, Frostburg; and three brothers, Edward Winebrenner, Mount Savage, George Winebrenner, Frostburg, and Herman H. Winebrenner, Ralphane, Va.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Madeline Cook officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Savage Methodist cemetery.
EARL L. WINTERS
SWANTON - Earl Lester Winters, age 82, of Swanton, died Wednesday at his home in Swanton.
He was born March 1, 1916, in Swanton, and was the son of the late Luther C. Winters and Josephine (Rhodes) Winters.
Mr. Winters was a retired pipefitter and Army veteran of World War II, and attended Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Glass) Winters; two daughters, Carolyn Snyder, Houston, Texas, and Barbara Sweitzer, Carmel, Ind.; one son, Robert E. Winters, Swanton; one brother, Roy Winters, Silver Spring; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Meredith Ball officiating.
Interment will be in the George cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be directed to Hospice of Garrett County.
ELSIE M. WINTERS
BARTON - Elsie Marie Winters, 87, of 19012 Legislative Road, Barton, died Friday, July 3, 1998, at her residence after a lingering illness.
Born July 22, 1910, at Elk Garden, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Wilson and Rebecca (Wilson) Wilson.
Mrs. Winters was a member of the Barton United Methodist Church. She was retired from Westvaco Corporation with 39 years of service. She was a charter member and Past President of Barton American Legion Auxiliary Unit 189. Mrs. Winters also was a member of the Bethlehem Chapter #14 Order of the Eastern Star, the Barton Homemakers and the Barton Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Winters; and four half-sisters, Nina Smith, Florida, Verda Brode, Long Island, N.Y., Mary Robinson and Faye Walker, both of Keyser, W.Va. She also is survived by a special nephew, Charles Racey, and wife, Barbara, of Keyser.
Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Sunday, July 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Barton United Methodist Church on Monday, July 6, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. John Park. Mrs. Winters will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
The Order of the Eastern Star will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The Barton Legion Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
MARGUERITE A. WISLER
ELLERSLIE - Marguerite Alzene Wisler, 88, of JFK Apartments, Cumberland, formerly of Ellerslie, died Friday, March 13, 1998, at Camelot Nursing Home, Harrisonburg, Va.
Born Sept. 27, 1909, in Ellerslie, she was a daughter of the late W. Howard and Edythe J. (Watts) Emerick. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ellis B. Wisler Sr., on Jan. 27, 1988; a son, Howard C. Wisler; four brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are a son, Ellis B. Wisler Jr., and wife, Erika, Harrisonburg; three grandchildren, Jessi Wisler, Harrisonburg, Chris Wisler, Mount Savage, and Eric Wisler, Bethesda; three sisters, Jane Garlitz, Corriganville, Leanna Hoyle, Glen Riddle, Pa., and Joanne See, Streetsboro, Ohio.
Mrs. Wisler retired with 17 years of employment as a cook for Gehauf's Restaurant in Cumberland.
She was a lifetime member of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rebecca J. Vardiman officiating. Interment will be in Cooks Mills cemetery.
