H. TOM WARNICK
BARTON - H. Tom Warnick, 70, of Route 1, Laurel Run, Barton, died March 23, 1998, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg, where he had been a resident.
Born Dec. 22, 1927, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Gilbert "Gib" and Florence (Hughes) Warnick. He also was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne (Moore) Warnick, in January 1990.
Tom was a graduate of Barton High School Class of 1946. He entered the Marine Corps in June 1946. He was called back into the Army and served in the Corps of Engineers in Korea. Tom was an avid baseball player along Georges Creek. He played on a team in Lonaconing with the late Lefty Grove.
He is survived by a daughter, Robin Ann Winstead and husband, Ron, Barton; a son, Thomas G. Warnick, also of Barton; a sister, "Mike" Kiddy, Barton. He also is survived by three grandchildren, Leigh Ann Winstead, Ronnie Winstead and Amber Lynn Warnick, all of Barton.
Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel in Barton, on Tuesday, March 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Chapel on Wednesday, March 25, at 2 p.m., by the Rev. Ellis Kretschmer.
Interment will be in Laurel Hill cemetery, Moscow Mills.
HARRY T. WARNICK
MIDLAND - Harry Thomas Warnick, 86, of Warnick Road, Midland, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Memorial Hospital Hospice.
Born Feb. 6, 1912, at Laurel Run, Moscow, Mr. Warnick was the son of the late Harry Garfield and Mary (Timney) Warnick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Daniel Warnick, Gilbert Warnick, Cecil Warnick, Ellsworth "Dode" Warnick, John "Jack" Warnick and William Warnick; and by a sister, Alice (Warnick) Green.
Mr. Warnick attended school at Moscow School and Barton School. When his father was killed in a mining accident in 1926, Harry went to work at the age of 14 at the General Textile Manufacturing Company (Silk Mill) in Lonaconing. He worked at the Silk Mill until it closed in 1932. In November 1932 he began working at the Celanese Corporation where he was soon promoted to production supervisor in the Coning Department. After 40 years in that position, Mr. Warnick retired from the Celanese in 1974.
Mr. Warnick was a member of the Lonaconing Rotary Club from 1953-1990, holding all offices, including the presidency for four terms. He was active in the Lonaconing Republican Club, serving as treasurer for 17 years and president for three terms. The club designated him an honorary life member. For many years, Mr. Warnick also helped to coordinate the local blood drives by the Johnstown Chapter of the American Red Cross. Following his retirement, Mr. Warnick became skilled at refinishing furniture and caning chairs, a hobby which he loved.
Mr. Warnick is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Agatha Mary (Colmer) Warnick. In addition, he is survived by five sons, Ronald Thomas Warnick and wife, Pat, Nine Mile Falls, Washington, Harry Joseph Warnick and wife, Ruth, Springfield, W.Va., Stephen Edward Warnick, Roanoke, Va., Dr. John Gilbert Warnick, Colonel, USAF Retired, and wife, Ina, Beavercreek, Ohio, Michael Robert Warnick and wife, Helen Ann, Midland; and by two daughters, Helen Marie Vazquez and husband, Manuel, Safford, Ariz.; and Molly Agatha Deniker and husband, Paul, Accident. He is also survived by three sisters, Nellie Moffatt and Ethel Bogie, both of Lonaconing, and Edna Atkinson, Frostburg. He was the proud grandfather of 11 surviving grandchildren, Lisa D. Welch, Sue L. Barnes, Lara S. Warnick, Connie R. Warnick, Daniel S. Warnick, David S. Warnick, Lauren M. Warnick, Christian E. Bailey, Matthew S. Bailey, Karina M. Deniker and Patrick M. Deniker. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Monday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Sister Joan Maenner, OSF, Pastoral Life Director of St. Joseph's Church, Midland, presiding. At his request, Mr. Warnick's body will be cremated and his cremains will be interred at a later date at St. Ann's cemetery, Avilton.
JAMES T. WARNICK
LUKE - James T. Warnick, 72, of 401 Pratt St., Luke, died March 1, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born April 9, 1925, in Moscow, he was the son of the late James W. and Isabelle (Turnbull) Warnick. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia G. (Bradley) Warnick, in 1981; a son, James Warnick Jr., in 1966; three brothers, John Warnick, Bob Warnick and Harrison Warnick; and two sisters, Christine Kirtley and Hilda Stafford.
Mr. Warnick was Presbyterian by faith. He was a 1943 graduate of Barton High School. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a 1st Sgt., with 23 years of service, having served during World War II. He was a P.O.W., having been captured twice and escaping both times. He was later wounded in Southern France.
Mr. Warnick was the acting Mayor of the Town of Luke, serving 1978-80, and 1982 to the present.
He was a member of the Barton American Legion #189, and the Barton Allegany Lodge #157 A.F. & A.M. He was a member of the Maryland Municipal League, and a member of the Maryland Mayors Association. He was a long-standing member of the Lonaconing Trap Club, was an avid trap shooter, and a member of the Amateur Trap Association. He also was a self-employed appliance repairman.
Mr. Warnick is survived by two sons, Robert Warnick, Surry, Va., and Greg Bryan, of Luke; one brother, Eugene Warnick, Barton; three sisters, Mary Beeman, Freedom, Pa., Elizabeth Holler, Cumberland, and Claudine Beard, Bloomington; two grandchildren, Zachary and Zebulon Warnick; and a special friend, Patty Bryan, Luke.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday, March 3, from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday, March 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, March 5, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Johnson officiating.
Interment will be in Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, Va.
Barton American Legion will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. The Barton Allegany Lodge will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad.
LONNIE E. WARNICK
WESTERNPORT - Lonnie E. Warnick, 76, of 101 Chestnut St., Westernport, died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Garrett County, a son of the late Lester V. Warnick and the late Annabelle (Hanlin) Warnick. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Blanche (Grove) Warnick in 1978; two brothers, Lester Warnick and Grant Warnick.
He was retired from the Westvaco Corporation. He also was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Warnick was a member of the Westernport Assembly of God Church, the Victory Post #155 American Legion, Westernport, the Queens Point V.F.W. #6775, McCoole, and Hiram Lodge #103 A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by one daughter, Roberta (Warnick) VanMeter, Capon Bridge, W.Va.; one sister, Elsie Wilson, Westernport; three grandchildren, Melissa Boober, Inwood, W.Va., Christopher VanMeter, Rawlings, and Brad VanMeter, Keyser, W.Va.; two great-grandchildren, Karli Ann Boober and Tanner Christopher VanMeter.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in the Philos cemetery, Westernport, where full military rites will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Organizations.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Westernport Assembly of God Church.
RICHARD C. WARREN
MARIETTA, Ga. - Richard C. Warren, age 52, of Gainesville, Fla., formerly of Marietta, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with the Rev. Ryan Hale officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery in Marietta.
A native of Trion, Ga., Mr. Warren came to Cobb County in 1952. He attended Waterman Street School and graduated from Marietta High School in 1964. He attended West Georgia College and Florida State University. He was Co-Owner and Program Director of the New Dominion Schools in Maryland and Virginia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and belonged to several professional organizations.
Survivors include three sisters, Teresa Drake and Shelia Rench, both of Trion, and Jamie Bergbauer of Dallas; two brothers, Terry Warren of Marietta, and John O' Barr of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

JOHN F. WATACH
CUMBERLAND - John Frank Watach, 78, of East Oldtown Road, Cumberland, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 26, 1919, in Ambridge, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Elko) Watach. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mr. Watach was a former business teacher at Allegany High School, James Wood High School, Winchester and Capon Bridge High School. He was a retired postal clerk from the Cumberland Post Office. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a Protestant by faith, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Cumberland, and the Cumberland American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Rodella Watach; two daughters, Marsha Malone, and husband, Mark, LaVale, Connie Duckworth, and husband, David, Shelby Township, Mich.; two brothers, George Watach and wife, Lil, Miami, Fla., Nick Watach and wife, Mary Ann, Ambridge; one sister, Christine Brunner, Ambridge; six grandchildren, Ericka Evans, and husband, Tim, Kevin Ashby, Isaac Duckworth, Nathan Duckworth, Jeff Malone and Miles Malone; and one great-grandson, Jonathan Evans.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Disabled American Veterans will conduct a memorial service on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Patrick Malone officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be sent to 449 Pennsylvania Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502, Attention: Kevin Ashby. The money will benefit United Cerebral Palsy clients, whom the grandson assists.
ELIZABETH L. WATKINS
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK - Elizabeth R. "Liz" Watkins, 88, of P Street, Mountain Lake Park, died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born May 26, 1909, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Alderson B. and Belle F. (Browning) White.
Ms. Watkins was a former secretary for Parsons-Soders Department Store, Clarksburg, W.Va., where she worked for more than 17 years. She retired after 24 years as a secretary for the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Oakland; and the Oakland Chapter of the AARP.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
At. Ms. Watkins request, her body was cremated. An interment service will be held at the Oakland cemetery on Sunday, May 3, 1998, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Harrison officiating.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 316 E. Oak St., Oakland, MD 21550.
