CUMBERLAND - Arthur Charles Westfall, Jr., 74, of 759 Maryland Ave., Cumberland, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 13, 1923, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Arthur Charles Westfall, Sr., and the late Elvina Sara (Shingledecker) Westfall. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Doris Westfall.
Mr. Westfall was a retired brakeman for the B&O; Railroad with 38 years of service. He was a member of Full Gospel Pentecostal Church and the Ridgeley West Virginia Senior Citizens. He was a veteran of U.S. Army-Military Police from 1945 to 1948.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen Matthew Westfall and wife, Lea, Hagerstown, and Rusty Dively and wife, Gloria, Kingsport, Tenn.; a daughter, Jacquline Dively, Cumberland; a grandson, Nathan Dively; four sisters, Allene Jones, Marlene Regina Hebb, Shirley Lee Johnson and Patricia Ann Hite, all of Cumberland; two brothers, William Richard Westfall, Mead, Wash., and Donald Eugene Westfall, Cumberland; a fiancee of 14 years, Eleanor Woods; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. James K. Peters officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

MONA WHETSTONE
VINELAND, N.J. - Mona (Callin) Whetstone, 93, of Vineland, died Saturday at the Nursing Center of Vineland after an extended illness.
Born in Frostburg, Mrs. Whetstone had lived in the Vineland are for more than 21 years. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are a son, Harry, of Sun City Center, Fla.; a brother, Emmett Callin, Frostburg, Md.; two sisters, June Lorentz and Millicent Brode, both of Vineland; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg, on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at noon.
The Roscap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home, Millville, is in charge of arrangements.
DONALD A. WHETZEL
HOLIDAY, Fla. - Donald A. Whetzel, 50, of Holiday, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Nov. 12, 1998, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Bay Pines.
He had moved to Florida in 1980 and was a salesman for A&A; Comics & Cards, New Port Richey. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era, and was a Lutheran by faith.
Surviving are his mother, Jean E. Whetzel, Cumberland; one sister, Linda J. O'Brien, Holiday; one brother, George Whetzel, New Jersey; and a companion, Nettie A. Whetzel, Holiday. The National Cremation Society, 2508 U.S. 19 North, Holiday, FL 34691 was in charge of the arrangements.
HELEN V. WHETZEL
CUMBERLAND - Helen Virginia Whetzel, 86, formerly of The Chateau of Cumberland (White Avenue), passed away Saturday, April 11, 1998, at the St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center in Frostburg, where she had been residing.
Born in Ohio on March 31, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Conover and the late Lulu Edna (Kuntz) Conover. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Whetzel.
She was a retired officer of the Liberty Trust Bank in the Installment Loan Department; and was past president of the local chapter of the American Association of Banking Women.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lou Schute and husband, William, LaVale, and Kathy Holliday and husband, James E., Frostburg; one son, Dean Conover Whetzel, New York City; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private, family-only visitation and service will be held at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday.
Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery.

LAVALE - Kobey Douglas Whisner, infant son of Doug and Kacey (Robinette) Whisner, died Dec. 1, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
In addition to his parents, surviving are one sister, Klarissa Whisner; maternal grandparents, Judy and Herman Sathoff, LaVale, Lynn Robinette, LaVale; paternal grandparents, John and Jennette Whisner, Bowling Green; maternal great-grandmother, Ursa Wharton, LaVale; maternal great-grandparents, Ralph and Henrietta Robinette, Corriganville; paternal great-grandmothers, Jocylin Corbin, Bel Air, Cumberland, and Kathryn Whisner, Cumberland.
Graveside services will be conducted at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, on Friday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Lloyd B. McCanna officiating.

CUMBERLAND - Wayne Albertus White, 61, of 13200 Harvester Lane, N.E., Cumberland, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 27, 1937, in Cumberland, he was the son of Helen G. (Maxey) White of Cumberland and the late Albertus "Bert" White. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Warren Gary White.
Mr. White was a 1955 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He began his career by joining the Carpenters Local #1024 in 1956 as an apprentice. During his career he was involved with building the Cross-town Bridge, the Country Club Mall, and he was a foreman on the Center City Parking Garage. He was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men. Mr. White was an active member of the Cumberland Lions Club having received the Melvin Jones Award, the highest award given by the Lions Clubs. He was founder of the Mid-Atlantic Fiddle Championship and was past president of the Allegany County Genealogy Society.
Surviving besides his mother are his wife, Emma Jean (Helmick) White, Cumberland; three sons, Wayne Allen White, California, Darrin Paul White and wife, Beth, Horseheads, N.Y., and Samuel John White, Cumberland; seven daughters, Ladonna J. (Hedrick) Wills and husband, Raymond Jr., Cresaptown, Holly L. Hedrick, Cumberland, Pamela K. (Hedrick) Stone, Baltimore, Ginger L. (Hedrick) Spangler, Cherry Hill, N.J., Sharon J. (White) Harrell and husband Joe, Frederick, and Christa S. White, Singapore; two sisters, Joyce Fair, Akron, Ohio, and Janice Leith and husband, Jim, Cumberland; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Betty L. Whitebread, 74, of Columbus, died Sunday afternoon following a brief illness.
A native of Cumberland, Md., she raised her family in Trenton, N.J., and is a member of the Rebecca Lodge.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Straka, Trenton, and Brenda Whitebread, Columbus; grandchildren, Debra Keisela, Kimberly Straka and Eric Whitebread; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Lease, Cumberland, and Loretta Davis, San Mateo, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, and a son, Frederick.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 4, 1998, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Ohio Cremation and Memorial Society, 5329 North High St., Columbus.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association, 5455 N. High St., Columbus OH 43214.
BETTY L. WHITEBREAD
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Betty Lee (Lease) Whitebread died May 31, 1998 at Grant Hospital in Columbus.
She was formerly from Cumberland, Md., and Trenton, N.J. She was born on Nov. 27, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Edith Lee (Kenney) Lease and the late Frederick Glennwood Lease, who died in an airplane accident at Barton Field in Cresaptown, Md., on Oct. 3, 1930. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Whitebread; infant son, Frederick; and a brother, Phillip Lease.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Starka and husband Andy, Trenton, and Brenda Whitebread, Columbus; two sisters, Loretta Davis, San Mateo, Calif., and Dorothy Lewis and husband Oscar, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Debra Keisela, Kimberly Starka, Trenton, and Eric Whitebread, Columbus; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She attended St. Patrick School and was a member of St. Patrick Church. There will be no visitation. She requested to be cremated.
