CLARENCE W. FRIEND
FRIENDSVILLE - Clarence Wilbur Friend, 75, formerly of Friendsville, died Monday, June 2, 1997, at Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, where he had been a resident for eight years.
Born March 30, 1922, in Accident, he was a son of the late Martin Luther and Clara Margaret (Brown) Friend.
Mr. Friend was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed in construction and timber.
Surviving are his brother, Dale Friend, Sebring, Fla.; a nephew, Steve Friend, Frostburg; a niece, Linda Nugent, Sebring; and a great-nephew, Mark Nugent.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Steele cemetery.
BETTIE J. DeLUCA
DURHAM, N.C. - Bettie Jeanne (Mills) DeLuca, 72, of 5901 Craig Road, Durham, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Thursday, July 24, 1997, at the Triangle Hospice Meadowlands, following more than a year of declining health.
Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Thelma (Nichols) Mills. She also was preceded in death by her husband Samuel DeLuca, also of Cumberland, who died about 1970. He was well known in Cumberland for his athletic activities, particularly on the baseball diamond and the bowling lanes. Her father, Fred Mills, was owner and proprietor of the Dingle Drug Store, Greene Street, Cumberland.
Mrs. DeLuca was a resident of Durham since 1964, she had worked for Red Lobster for 15 years, retiring in 1994. She was a graduate of Allegany High School in 1942 and attended the University of Maryland.
Surviving are one daughter, Pamela Bright, Durham; one son, Steve DeLuca, Bahama; three grandsons, Jeff Adams, Stephen Bright and Jonathan DeLuca; one granddaughter, Melissa DeLuca; and two nephews, Fred Mills and Johnnie Mills, both of Tarpon Springs, Fla.
Friends were received at the Clements Funeral Home, Durham, on Saturday, July 26, 1997.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, July 27, 1997, at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ross Thompson officiating.

MARTHA E. BRAMBLE
CUMBERLAND - Martha Evelyn Bramble, 82, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 2, 1915, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Walter Allen and Mary Agnes (Collins) Crowe. She also was preceded in death by her husband Donald L. Bramble; two brothers, Lewis Crowe and Alfred Crowe; and one sister, Rose Mary Smith.
Mrs. Bramble was a member of the AARP.
Surviving are one daughter, Diana Booth and husband Donald, Frostburg; two sons, Donald E. Bramble, Bordentown, N.J., and Herbert Allen Bramble and wife Janet, Ridgeley, W.Va.; two brothers, Wilbert Crowe and Reford Crowe, both of Mount Savage; one sister, Gladys Crowe, Mount Savage; and six grandchildren, Laura Bramble, Daphne Bramble, Brian Bramble, Gregory Bramble, Trinity Booth and Donald Booth.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Edward Dickel officiating.
Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Victor Merkel, Donald Booth, Gregory Bramble, Brian Bramble, Buc Frost and Charles Crowe.

JULIA P. LEWIS
CRESAPTOWN - Julia Pearl Lewis, 89, formerly of Winchester Road, Cresaptown, then a resident of Rest Assured Nursing Home, died Wednesday, July 23, 1997, at Lions Manor Nursing Home.
Born November 15, 1907, in Piney Plains, she was the daughter of the late Brady and Maria (Bowden) Leasure. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lewis, on June 1, 1983; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Lewis was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church, Womens Society Christian Service, taught the Mary Martha Sunday School Class, and was a member of the Cresaptown Senior Citizens. She served on the administrative board of the church, was past president of Allegany County Homemakers, and was a member of the Cresaptown Homemakers Club.
Surviving are a sister, Lena Schwenninger, Cumberland; a brother, Luther Leasure, Aurora, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Piney Plains United Methodist Church cemetery.
ROBERTA L. GRACIE
FROSTBURG - Roberta Lee Gracie, 36, of Baltimore, died Saturday, March 29, 1997, in Hagerstown as the result of an automobile accident.
Born Nov. 5, 1960, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Thomas Gracie, Vale Summit, and the late Dorothy Lee (Fazenbaker) Gracie, who died on Jan. 24, 1997.
Ms. Gracie was employed by the State of Maryland in the office of Louis Goldstein. She was a member of the Clarysville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Vale Summit United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to her father are one daughter, Sarah Lee Gracie, Baltimore; one half sister, Delores Williams and husband Danny, Mount Savage; one niece, Stacey Williams; one nephew, Scott Williams; and great-nieces and great-nephws.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Clarysville Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Monday at 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 1, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in the Eckhart cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ray Raynor, Scott Williams, Wes Fazenbaker, Mike Fazenbaker, Curtis Fazenbaker and Brian Klosterman.
LEONA R. LEWIS
CUMBERLAND - Leona Rose (Stevenson) Lewis, 91, of the Cumberland Nursing Home, formerly of New Hampshire Avenue, died Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born April 4, 1905, in Midland, she was the daughter of the late Albert Garfield and Sarah Elizabeth (Shearer) Stevenson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Dewey Lewis Sr., in 1962; two sisters; and four brothers.
Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker. She attended Mapleside United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Ella Elizabeth Fisher and husband Charles, Cumberland; one son, Edwin Dewey Lewis Jr. and wife Sandra, Cumberland; one sister, Sarah Elizabeth Weinbrenner and husband Dempsey, Cumberland; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sheril D. Merki officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
JENNIFER R. DELSIGNORE
FROSTBURG - Jennifer Renee Delsignore, 18, of Frostburg, died Friday, March 14, 1997, at Garrett Memorial Hospital as a result of an automobile accident.
Born Jan. 3, 1979, in Oakland, she was the daughter of Debra (Sluss) Delsignore, of Frostburg, and W. Paul Delsignore, of Eckhart.
Miss Delsignore was a senior at Beall High School and was employed part-time at the McDonald's Restaurant in Frostburg.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two brothers, Ian Delsignore and Tony Delsignore, both of Frostburg; half brother, Jason Delsignore, Oakland; maternal grandparents, Thomas Sluss and wife Camille, and Madeline Sluss, all of Frostburg; paternal great-grandmother, Virginia Crawford, Levonia, Mich.; one uncle, Carmen Delsignore and Linda, Oakland; two aunts, Brenda Wonzy and husband Bob, Fruit Port, Mich., and Nancy Sluss, LaVale.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 17, 1997, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George A. Aist officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
