FRANCES E. CARROLL
BOWLING GREEN - Frances E. Carroll, 63, of Bowling Green, died Sunday, July 6, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 2, 1934, in Eglon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Emil C. and Hilda (Blamble) Pretzel. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Pretzel.
Mrs. Carroll was a graduate of Aurora High School and Catherman's Business School. She had worked at the Cumberland Cloak and Suit Store for many years. She was a member of the Cresaptown United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Scripture Gleaners Sunday School Class and the Handbell Choir.
Surviving are her husband Donald E. Carroll; four children, Anita Pullin and husband Donald Pullin Jr., Cumberland, Kenny Carroll and wife Terri Carroll, LaVale, Denise Judson and husband Duane Judson, Margate, Fla., and Brian Carroll and wife Amy Carroll, Cumberland; three brothers, Robert Pretzel, David Pretzel and William "Chuck" Pretzel, all of Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; five sisters, Helen Williams, Pasadena, Onalee Weslow, LaVale, Darlene Nine, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., Arlene Northcraft, Cumberland, and Sheila Seese, Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Christopher Pullin, Steven Pullin, Bridgit Pullin and Sidney Carroll; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Cresaptown United Methodist Church on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to service time.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.

ALBERT J. DeARCANGELIS
CUMBERLAND - Albert Joseph DeArcangelis, 74, of Stewart Avenue, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 28, 1923, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Dominic and Clementina (Carpenti) DeArcangelis. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Anna DeArcangelis, in 1992.
Mr. DeArcangelis was a retired blacksmith for the Western Maryland Railroad. He was a U. S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the American Legion Fort Cumberland Post No. 13, VFW Henry Hart Post No. 1411, Catholic War Veterans William Paca Lodge No. 1689, and Cumberland Knights of Columbus No. 586. He was a beloved husband and father.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Ann Davis and husband Edward; two sons, Joseph Albert DeArcangelis, Donimic "Nick" DeArcangelis; one sister, Filomena A. Bender; two brothers, Peter A. DeArcangelis and Valentine M. DeArcangelis, all of Cumberland; and three grandchildren, Amanda Ann Davis, Edward C. Davis Jr., and Caroline A. Davis.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with Father Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
A Christian wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be John Shoup, Bill DeArcangelis, Peter DeArcangelis, Frank Thom, and Christopher Rabideu.
THOMAS W. BRASHEARS, JR.
ADELPHI - Thomas W. Brashears Jr., 89, of 10124 Riggs Road, Adelphi, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 5, 1908, in Laurel, he was the son of the late Thomas Brashears, Sr., and the late Millie (Burdette) Brashears. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Hoffa) Brashears.
Mr. Brashears retired from the United States government. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Laurel Post 60, American Legion, and a 50-year member of Laurel Wreath Lodge 149, AF & AM. He was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Violet Malcolm, Barton, and Elaine Cooper, Burlington, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Boal Chapel on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Park officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos cemetery, Westernport.
Barton American Legion 189 will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Monday at 7 p.m.
Allegany Lodge 157 AF & AM, Barton, will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
COLLEEN B. HENRY
ORLANDO, Fla. - Colleen Beth (Jameson) Henry, 42, of 9454 First Avenue, Orlando, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997, at the home of her mother-in-law, Georgene Henry, Bishop Lane, Cumberland, Md.
Born July 8, 1955, in Richfield, Utah, she was the daughter of Richard Jameson Sr. and stepmother Betty, Sanger, Texas, and Evelyn Beth (Bates) Hatch and stepfather Ross, Ferron, Utah.
Mrs. Henry was a deli manager for Public Super Market in Florida. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Hunter Creek Ward.
Surviving are her husband, Scott E. Henry, Orlando; two sons, Scott C. Henry and Sean C. Henry, both at home; one daughter, Monica L. Henry, Orlando; three brothers, Richard Jameson Jr., Anaheim, Calif., David Jameson, Kerns, Utah, Mark Jameson, West Valley, Utah; one sister, Kathy Insalaco, Anaheim, Calif.; one half-sister, Clair Jameson, Sanger, Texas; and a very special friend, Juanita See, Hyndman, Pa.

LEWIS W. GRISWOLD
GULFPORT, Miss. - Lewis William Griswold, 101, of Gulfport, died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, in Gulfport.
Mr. Griswold was a son of the late Charles H. and Rosa (Harper) Griswold, and had been a resident of Gulfport for 20 years. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after over 32 years of service. He was a veteran of World War I and World War II and received the Good Conduct Medal, World War I Victory Medal (with Transport Clasp), and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Griswold was preceded in death by two sisters, Crystal Griswold Witson, Cumberland, Md., Erma Griswold Morgan, Mount Herman, Calif., and one brother, Carl Griswold, Los Angeles, Calif.
Surviving are two daughters, Jean P. Carter, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Grace Williman of Philadelphia, Pa.; four grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Gulfport, on Monday from 4 to 5 p.m.
The funeral service will be at the U.S. Naval Home Chapel, Gulfport, on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in Biloxi National cemetery, Biloxi.
ALICE HAY CARROLL
LAVALE - Alice Hay Carroll, 93, of LaVale Court, LaVale, formerly a 59 year resident of Lincoln Street, Cumberland, died Friday, May 9, 1997, at her residence.
Born Nov. 4, 1903, in Salisbury, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William N. and Alice (Hook) Hay. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John Carroll, on Oct. 1, 1974; a brother, Edward Hay; and two sisters, Agnes Hay, and Catherine Mace.
Mrs. Carroll was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland, and the Sodality. She graduated in 1923 from the Frostburg Normal School. She taught at Valley Road School and Pennsylvania Avenue School.
Surviving are her daughter, Joan Jackson and husband Edward, with whom she had resided since 1993; two granddaughters, Susan Athey and husband Mark Wickman, Fort Collins, Colo., and Carol Tabler and husband Dallas, Cumberland; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Zembower, and Jenifer Tabler, both of Cumberland; one brother, William Hay and wife Rose, Cumberland; several nieces and mephews; and the caring Lincoln Street neighbors and sitters.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
A Rosary will be conducted on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland, on Monday, May 12, 1997, at 11 a.m. with Father Frank J. Brauer as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Carroll, Robert Farrell, John Dougherty, Don Schisler, Brett Wilson, and Ronnie Whetsell.
