WANDA S. KRAUS
CUMBERLAND - Wanda Sullivan Kraus, 78, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born March 4, 1919, in Ridgeley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William O. Spangler and Marguerite (Fisher) Spangler. She also was preceded in death by a brother, George Robert Spangler.

Mrs. Kraus had been a sales clerk at the Darling Shop. She then went on to Lazarus', where she worked in the Crystal Room.

Survivors include her son, Robert F. Kraus and wife Joan, Cumberland; one brother, C. William Spangler, Daytona Beach, Fla.; and two grandsons, Zachary Kraus and Alex Kraus, both of Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Milton Hipsley officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

THOMAS A. KREGER
CUMBERLAND - Thomas Author Kreger, 47, of Cumberland, died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at his residence.
Born June 28, 1949, in Cumberland, he was the son of Dorothy T. (Bishop) Kreger, of Cumberland, and the late Roy Jackson Kreger.

Mr. Kreger was a construction worker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of the Cresaptown Eagles.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Donna Jean (Chaney) Kreger; four sons, Michael D. Smith and wife Cheryl, Cresaptown, Christopher T. Kreger, Wheeling, W.Va., Israel J. Kreger, Finzel, and Matthew J. Kreger, Ocean City; one daughter, Renee Kreger, Georgia; two stepsons, Ernest G. Weaver and wife Jennifer, Cumberland, and Joseph M. Weaver, at home; one stepdaughter, Stephine Y. Ruby and husband Allen, Flintstone; five sisters, Donna J. Holt, Timberville, Ohio, Barbara A. Raaum and husband Henry, Great Falls, Mont., Vicky D. Fenton, Ellerslie, Sandra Y. Engle and husband David, Barrelville, and Jackie Sachs and husband Denver, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; one stepbrother, Samuel A. Kreger, Great Falls; and eight grandchildren, Taylor, Nicole, Sean, Kori, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Dennis and James.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Peters and Bishop Steve Whited officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mr. Kreger's family in care of Donna Kreger, 173 1/2 N. Mechanic St., Cumberland, MD 21502.

JEFFREY C. KREIGER
GREER, S.C. - Jeffrey Charles Kreiger, 38, of Greer, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at his residence of Lou Gehrig's disease.
Born Sept. 18, 1959, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Charles R. and Erma (Mease) Kreiger, Cumberland.

Mr. Kreiger was a technical sales representative for Akzo-Nobel, Inc. He was a 1977 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He attended Akron University and Allegany College. He graduated from the University of New York, where he received his bachelor of engineering degree in environmental science and forestry. He attended Alders Gate United Methodist Church in Greer, and he was a member of Emmanuel/Bethel United Methodist Church, Cumberland. He was a member of the Ohr Lodge No. 211 AF&AM.; He was president of the Homeowners Association in Greer.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Carol (Murphy) Kreiger; one son, Kyle J. Kreiger; one daughter, Gabrielle N. Kreiger; one brother, Michael R. Kreiger and wife Janice, Fort Worth, Tex.; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Patrick J. and Darlene (Wilmot) Murphy, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mildred C. Martin and the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

The Ohr Lodge No. 211 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday at 9 p.m.

Contributions may be made to a memorial fund for his children, c/o Carol Kreiger, 111 Royal Oak Court, Greer, SC 29651.

Pallbearers will be former classmates, Terry Weltman, Rich Hawse, Jim Miller, Mike Iser, Steve Eaton, Pat Murphy, and Stan Nelson.

MAYO A. KREILING
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Mayo A. Kreiling, 78, of Scottsdale, formerly of Frostburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997 at Scottsdale.
He was born in Frostburg.

Mr. Kreiling was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Masonic Lodge of Oklahoma, and was a Shriner in Maryland.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay; and three sons, Karl, Tempe, Ariz., Gary, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Paul, Santa Monica, Calif.

Memorial services will be conducted at the Newcomer Family Mortuary Chapel, 6812 East Thomas Rd., Scottsdale, on Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 2929 South 48th St., Tempe, AZ 85282.

GOLDIE P. KREIP
FROSTBURG - Goldie Pearl Kreip, 77, of 23 Little Savage Lane, Frostburg, died Thursday, March 6, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 28, 1919, in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Solemon and Susan (Caton) Caton. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Kreip, in 1973; and two brothers, Jamie and Carl Caton.

Mrs. Kreip was retired as a cook from the Happy Hills Restaurant. She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Finzel.

Surviving are one sister-in-law, Grace E. Provance, Odenton; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lee Williams officiating.

Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

JOHN P. KURILLA
OAKLAND - John Paul Kurilla, 60, of Oakland, died Monday, March 10, 1997, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland,
Born Aug. 21, 1936, in Gates, Pa., he was a son of the late Paul Kurilla and Mary Kurilla. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Kurilla.

Mr. Kurilla managed and later owned the Ben Franklin Store in Oakland for many years, as well as the Sears Catalog Store. Prior to retirement he owned and operated the K&J; Variety Store. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He was a Fourth Degree Knight, Past Grand Knight, and current treasurer of Council 1771 Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Lodge 2481 B.P.O.E.; past member of the Oakland Town Council; a high school basketball stand-out; and was very active and made many contributions over the years to many Oakland and surrounding area civic and volunteer organizations.

Surviving are his wife, Betty (Karlovich) Kurilla; one son, Jeff Kurilla, Oakland; one daughter, Kim Grey, Laurel; and three sisters, Mary Glavac, Euclid, Ohio, Barbara Peluso, Carmichael, Pa., and Irene Shine, Masontown, Pa.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Father Richard Spencer as celebrant.

Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.

PANSY LEE KERNS
CUMBERLAND - Pansy Lee (Poole) Kerns, 82, of Cumberland went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 4, 1915, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Thornton E. and Margaret (Isner) Poole. She was preceded in death by her husband Stelman S. Kerns in 1986; one grandson, Dwight C. Leese, Jr., in 1991; three brothers, Ernest, Elmer, and Alvy; and one sister, Violet Wolford.

Mrs. Kerns was a Christian and a homemaker who spent a lifetime caring for her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Leese and husband, Dwight, Olney, Bonnie Hansrote and husband Timothy, Cumberland; six sisters, Hazel Shank, Wilma Arrington, Audrey Heck, all of Cumberland, Geraldine Peters, Charlottesville, Va., Wanda Wood, Petersburg, Va., and Dorothy McClain, Pensacola, Fla.; one granddaughter, Sharon Pemberton and husband, James, Stafford, Va.; and two great granddaughters, Meredith and Erin, of Stafford.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Gary L. Barkley officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
