KATHRYN R. KERNS
CUMBERLAND - Kathryn Rebecca Kerns, 88, formerly of 502 Maryland Avenue, Cumberland, died Thursday, May 1, 1997, at Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born July 20, 1908, in Romney, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Ella (Maphis) Proudfoot. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian V. Kerns, September 28, 1967; and a son, Harold Boyce Kerns, January 8, 1991.

Mrs. Kerns was a member of the First Christian Church.

Surviving are a sister, Dorothy M. King, Cumberland; a grandson, Charles Kerns, Colo.; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Peters officiating.

Interment will be in Woodrow cemetery, Paw Paw, W.Va.

MARY JO KENNEY
FROSTBURG - Mary Jo Kenney, 84, of Washington Street, died Sunday, April 6, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born March 24, 1913, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Peter T. and Cecelia J. (Broderick) Kenney. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas J. Kenney and Stephen J. Kenney Sr.; four sisters, Madeline Liller, Katherine Hayden, Mildred Brady and Geraldine Thomas.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She had her nurse's training at Mount Alto, Washington. She did private practice in Frostburg in the earlier years. She was a U.S. Army nurse during wartime in the European Theatre and was a veteran's nurse through the rest of her career. Prior to settling in Frostburg, she was in Reno, Nev., and Martinsburg, W.Va.

Surviving are one brother, Robert J. Kenney and wife Lillian, Frostburg; two sisters-in-law, Anna Mary Kenney, Eckhart, Helen E. Kenney, Frostburg; and one brother-in-law, William Hayden, Va. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The wake service will be held on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Father William Moody as celebrant.

Interment will be at St. Michael's cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post 24.

Pallbearers will be Craig Kenney, Mark Kenney, J.T. Kenney, Bill Kenney, Joe Clark and Steve Kenney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's School.

MARY F. KELLEY
LONACONING - Mary Frances Kelley, 87, formerly of 39 High St., Lonaconing, died Thursday, April 3, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 20, 1909, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Fitzpatrick and Mary (Nolan) Fitzpatrick. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Kelley, in March 1981.

Mrs. Kelley was a homemaker. She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lonaconing.

Surviving are two sons, James T. Kelley and wife Gilberta, Gaithersburg, and John E. Kelley and wife June, Newark, Del.; four daughters, Rose Mary Hitt, Piedmont, W.Va., Patricia Moon and husband Donald R., Savage River Road, Swanton, Carole Michael and husband Addis, Sheffield Lake, Ohio, and Kathleen Kelley, Lonaconing; two brothers, Daniel Fitzpatrick and wife Louise, Lonaconing, and Frank Picciani, Florida; one sister, Lanora Beckman, Olympia, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

At the family's request the funeral services and interment will be private, with Father Jim Hannon officiating.

The Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.

NYTA S. KELLER
CUMBERLAND - Nyta Shaffer Keller, 79, of Washington Street, Cumberland, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997 at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 31, 1918 in Keyser, W.Va., was the daughter of the late Chester Ward Shaffer and the late Emily (Cook) Shaffer. She also was preceded in death by her husband, the late Philip E. Keller.

Mrs. Keller was a former assistant manager of The National Store in Cumberland and Keller Insurance Agency. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and McKinley Chapter #12 O.E.S.

Surviving are two sisters, Mary Higgs, Cumberland, and Betty Ullery and husband Wallace, Cumberland; three nieces, Patricia Royce and husband, Larry, Cumberland, Rebecca Carpenter and husband Bruce, Annandale, Va., and Jane Jenkins, Cumberland; two nephews, Dr. Terry Williams, Cumberland, and Craig S. Ullery and wife JoEllen, Novato, Calif.; great-niece, Pam Kusserow and husband, the Rev. Kurt, Latrobe, Pa.; two great-nephews, Ian Mathew Ullery, Novato, and Nicholas Jenkins, Cumberland; and a great-great-niece and nephew, Abby and Ben Kusserow, Latrobe.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. John J. Duffus and the Rev. Kurt Kusserow (pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pleasant Unity, Pa.) officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Carpenter, Robert Meister, James Mullennex, Lloyd Oster, James Roby, and James Rowley.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the permanent endowment fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Washington and Smallwood Streets, Cumberland.

McKinley Chapter #12 O.E.S. will have a memorial service, Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Merritt-Adams Funeral Home.

GLEN L. KELLER
ACCIDENT - Glen Luther Keller, 79, of 39 Keller Road, Accident, died Thursday, July 24, 1997, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Jan. 8, 1918, in Accident, he was the son of the late Luther and Christina (Beitzel) Keller. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Marjorie Fratz.

Mr. Keller was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a bass player for the Accident Community Band. He was a US Army and Air Corps veteran of World War II, he also was a bass player in the Army band, stationed in Amarillo, Texas. He was a member of the Grantsville Post 214, American Legion. He also was an equipment operator for the Garrett County Roads Department and a farmer.

Surviving are his wife Helen Irene (Coddington) Keller; one son, George Keller, Accident; one daughter, Linda Burch, Accident; one sister, Beulah Rush, Accident; and four grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roland E. Nairn III, officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Graveside military rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the St. Paul's Building Fund.

FREDERICK L. KELLER
WESTERNPORT - Frederick L. "Jack" Keller, 62, a 37-year resident of the Western Maryland Center, Hagerstown, formerly of Westernport, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at the Western Maryland Center, where he was loved and appreciated by the staff and doctors.
Born Oct. 30, 1934, in Westernport, he was the son of the late Wilson T. Keller and the late Ruth E. (Raines) Keller. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Patrick, Eugene and Raymond Keller; and one sister, Louise Pattison.

Mr. Keller formerly worked at Kenny's Market and Malc's Service Station in Westernport.

Surviving are one brother, Wilson E. Keller, Westernport; and two sisters, Betty Bowley, Laurel, and Geraldine Wilkinson, Westernport.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating.

Interment will be in the Philos cemetery.
