WILLIAM R. KAHL
GRANTSVILLE - William Ray "Billy" Kahl, 30, of 2241 Pigs Ear Road, Grantsville, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 22, 1967, in Oakland, he was a son of Hazel (Kahl) Self and stepson of Earl Self, Flintstone.

He also is survived by a brother, Truman W. Kahl, Accident; two sisters, Trudy M. Kahl, Cumberland, and Donna R. Self, Flintstone; maternal grandfather, Raymond Kahl, Grantsville; a niece, Amber Izzett; two nephews, William Izzett and Erik Kahl; aunt and uncle, Earl and Cerina Kahl, Accident; and great aunt, Cora Fazenbaker, Frostburg.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at Zion Lutheran Church, Accident, on Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Wilfred Karsten officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

MABLE JANE KAHL
ACCIDENT - Mable Jane Kahl, 79, of 2849 Bumble Bee Road, Accident, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Aug. 3, 1918, at Red House, she was a daughter of the late Verner O. and Jane (Mace) Bowman. Mrs. Kahl was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the ladies aid, and choir. She was an organizing member of Tableland Milk Producers, Oakland, and held the office of vice-president until her retirement as well as a position on the board of directors. She also was a member of the Garrett County Farm Bureau.

Mrs. Kahl is survived by her husband, Harold R. Kahl, Sr., a son, Harold R. "J.R." Kahl, Jr., and wife, Ronnie, Huntingtown; a sister, Grace King, Oakland; a granddaughter, Brenda Rae Sipe and husband, John; a step-granddaughter, Shawn Sickle and husband, Jim; and two step-great-grandchildren, Ryan Michael and Kayla Sickle.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Wilfred Karsten and the Rev. James A. Oester officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Zion Building Fund.

KATHRYN E. LEASURE
FROSTBURG - Kathryn E. "Kay" Leasure, 81, of Frostburg Heights Apartments, 100 Honeysuckle Lane, Frostburg, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at her residence.
Born on October 29, 1915, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John and Iva (Lohr) McElwee. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Leasure; and one brother, Frank McElwee.

Mrs. Leasure had been employed by the Celanese Corporation. She was a member of the Diamond Bowling League.

Surviving are her sister, Blanche Plummer and husband Gilbert, Frostburg; one brother, Francis I. McElwee and wife Marie, LaVale; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ellis Kretschmer officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

HANNAH L. LEATHERMAN
NATIONAL - Hannah L. Leatherman, 100, of National, died Sunday, July 6, 1997, at her home.
Born Jan. 19, 1897, in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late Keeley and Mary Jane (Logsdon) Folk. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel T. Leatherman Sr.; one son, Daniel T. Leatherman Jr.; two daughters, Betty E. Shumate and Zoe H. VanMeter; and two grandsons, Charles D. Shumate and Daniel T. Leatherman III.

Mrs. Leatherman was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Bertha M. Morrison and husband Edward, Memphis, Tenn., and Elaine Anderson and husband Alex, National; 12 grandsons; six granddaughters; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence R. Frye officiating.

Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Daniel Leatherman, Roger Shumate, Randy Morrison, John Anderson and Tom Anderson, and her great-grandson, Shawn Barry.

LESLIE H. LEATHERMAN
CUMBERLAND - Leslie Howard Leatherman, 54, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at his home.
Born June 13, 1943, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Mahlon Alston Leatherman and the late Lorraine Alpha (Clayton) Leatherman. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Annabelle Arnold in 1994 and Eleanor Strother in 1991; and a stepgrandson, Dennis Paz in 1996.

Mr. Leatherman was an equipment operator for the Cumberland City Fire Department. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam era.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Carol (Hoover) Leatherman, Cumberland; three sons, Eric Leatherman and wife Barbara, Bel Air, Cumberland, Bryan Leatherman and Shane Leatherman, both of Cumberland; a stepson, Earl Robinette, Cumberland; a stepdaughter, Sueann Paz, Minneapolis, Minn.; a brother, Elbert "Ebbie" Leatherman, Las Vegas, Nev., two sisters, Cora Krienheder, Buffalo, N.Y., and Betty Moore, Short Gap, W.Va.; a half brother, Robert Pancake, Cumberland; and four grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Herbst officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Members of the City of Cumberland Fire Department will be pallbearers.

PEARL V. LEATHERMAN
FERNDALE - Pearl Virginia (Ganoe) Leatherman, 77, of Ferndale, formerly of Hampshire County, died Tuesday, March 11, 1997, at Mercy Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Jan. 11, 1920, in Keyser, W.Va., she was the daughter of Rosa Blanche (Iser) Ganoe, Ferndale, formerly of Romney, W.Va., and the late Guy Wesley Ganoe. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Kenneth W. Ganoe.

Mrs. Leatherman was a homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Carroll Leatherman, Ferndale; two daughters, Rhonda Stasek and husband Joseph, Baltimore, and Judith Pascoe and husband Philip, Hampstead; and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Zachary, and Drew Pascoe, Hampstead. Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, W.Va., on Saturday, March 15, 1997, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be at the funeral home on Sunday, March 16, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Virginia Showalter officiating.

Interment will be in Ebenezer cemetery, Romney, W.Va.

CATHERINE M. LEE
WESTMINSTER - Catherine Marie Lee, 64, of Westminster and formerly of Randallstown, died Saturday, August 30, 1997, at the Carroll County General Hospital in Westminster.
Born June 20, 1933, in Green Spring, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Ethel Huffman. She also was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

She was the wife of George Lee.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, George Wesley, Lee, Jr., Westminster; daughters Nancy Baker, Westminster, Linda Sue Blake, Owings Mills, Deborah Ann Rutter, Hanover, Pa; brothers Marion Huffman, Cumberland, Floyd Huffman, Jarrettsville; sister Dorothy Cogar, Fairmont, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, at St. David's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1032 Musselman Rd., Hanover, with her Pastor the Rev. Kevin T. Shively officiating. Mrs. Lee will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at the Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery in Accident. The family will receive friends at the cemetery beginning at noon.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her name to the Maryland Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 39582, Baltimore, MD 21212-9582.

LILLIAN M. LEE
OAKLAND - Lillian M. Lee, 88, of Mitchellee Lane, Oakland, died Sunday, June 15, 1997, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Jan. 4, 1908, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary E. (Deihl) Holtschneider. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Lee, in 1995; five sisters; and three brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Lee lived in Baltimore between 1926 and 1971. She was graduated from the Towson State Normal School and taught in the Baltimore City Schools for 25 years. She taught first grade at Lyndhurst Elementary School in west Baltimore for the last 15 of those years.

She moved to Garrett County upon her retirement in 1971. She was active in the American Association of Retired Persons and served as a volunteer with the Loar Auxiliary at Garrett County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Oakland.

Surviving are one daughter, Dr. R. Lillian Mitchell, PhD., Oakland; one son, Robert E. Lee Sr., Baltimore; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father John Agapito as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
