MARY M. RUFFO
LAVALE - Mary (McCreary) Ruffo, 89, of Mary Street, LaVale, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
She was born Nov. 7, 1907, in Ellerslie, the daughter of the late Howard and Grace (Bennett) McCreary. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Frank (Ike) McCreary, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Ruffo was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church, LaVale, and of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Farrady Unit #24 American Legion Auxiliary, Frostburg. She was employed at Smith's Shoe Store on Baltimore Street for many years, and also was a volunteer at the Sacred Heart Hospital for 27 years.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Joseph Ruffo; a daughter, Nedra (Steele) Pelletier; a granddaughter, Cheryl Ward; three great-granddaughters, Sarah Ward, Michele Barlow, and Jennifer Garris; and two great-great-grandsons, Brett and Devon Barlow, all of Norfolk, Va.; nephews Joseph McCreary of Glen Burnie and Richard McCreary of Cumberland; and numerous other nephews and nieces.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Lowell Garland officiating.
Interment will follow in Rocky Gap Veterans cemetery, Flintstone.
Farrady Unit Auxiliary #24 will conduct a memorial service in the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

CHARLES ROBERTSON
MOSCOW - Charles "Charlo" Robertson, 82, of Laurel Run, Moscow, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 28, 1915, in Barton, he was the son of the late George and Harriet (Preston) Robertson. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Randell Robertson; and a sister, Alice Beeman.
Mr. Robertson was a retired coal miner and carpenter. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees having served in the Pacific theater. He was Presbyterian by faith, a charter member and past commander of the Barton American Legion Post No. 189, a member of Alvin C. Neat VFW Post No. 5280, and a charter member of the Barton Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are five sisters, Catherine Atkinson and husband Robert, Fla., Ann McCombs, Westernport, Elizabeth Kyle, Barton, Phyllis Stafford, Westland, Mich., and Lillian McFarland, LaVale; a special companion, Nannie Gowans, Barton; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dave Diehl officiating.
Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery, Moscow Mills.
The Barton American Legion Post No. 189 will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
The Alvin C. Neat Post No. 5280 VFW will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:15 p.m.
EDYTHE F. RUPERT
CUMBERLAND - Edythe Frey Rupert, 89, of Bedford, Va., died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997 at her residence.
She was born in Cumberland on Dec. 20, 1970, a daughter of the late Francis Frey and Marie Kienhoefer Frey. She was the widow of Owen Ernest Rupert.
She resided in Cumberland until 1950 when she moved to Washington, D.C., where she was Vault Custodian for Riggs National Bank and retired in 1973 after 20 years of service.
She is survived by a son, Robert Owen Rupert of Mount Airy; a daughter Suzanne Peter, Bedford; a niece Iris Gillum, LaVale; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her remains will be transported from Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Bedford, to Suitland, Md., for interment at Cedar Hill cemetery.
REBA PATTERSON
COLUMBIA, Md. - Reba (Weber) Patterson, the beloved daughter of the late Arthur J. Weber and wife of the late James Corfield Patterson, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, in Columbia.
She was very special to all.
She is survived by one son, James C. Patterson and wife Joan; one daughter, Ann Payne and husband Alan; two grandchildren, Julie Alice and Jeffrey Milton Patterson; one sister, Marian Bashor; three brothers, David, A. John and Albert, and the late James Weber; and a number of nieces and nephews including, Thomas M. Patterson, Frostburg.
The body was cremated and special services were held at the Slack Funeral Home, Ellicott City, Md.

RONALD W. MORAN
FROSTBURG - Ronald W. Moran, 64, of Frostburg, died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at Frostburg.
Born September 18, 1932, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Edward Joseph and Mary Louise (Folk) Moran. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward T. Moran, and Francis A. Moran; and two sisters, Mary Martha Bennett, and Ann Daniels.
Mr. Moran was retired after 22 years with Mount Savage Firebricks. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn ``Polly" (Rankin) Moran; one son, Paul Moran and wife, Christine, Frostburg; two daughters, Sandra Gordon and husband, Paul, Frostburg, and Donna Moran, Frostburg; four grandchildren, Ryan Michael Ross, James Allen Darr, Shannon Lynn Cadwallader, and Stephenie Renee Cadwallader; and two sisters, Ellen Jean Kennedy, and Elizabeth Ann Gracie, both of Frostburg.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with Father William Moody officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Unit, Sacred Heart Hospital.
GARY A. MORGAN II
CUMBERLAND - Gary A. Morgan II, 18, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, April 1, 1997, at his residence.
Born May 25, 1978, in Cumberland, he was the son of Gary A. and Jean Ann (Conn) Morgan, with whom he resided. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard T. Morgan.
Gary was a 1996 graduate of Fort Hill High School and was attending Allegany College. He attended the First Assembly of God Church, Elder Street.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his maternal grandparents, Carl E. and Patsy R. Conn, Ridgeley; paternal grandmother, Thelma P. Morgan, Cumberland; special great aunt, LaVern "Da Da" Wharton, Cumberland; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the First Assembly of God Church on Saturday at noon with Rev. Orville Thomas and Rev. Bernard A. Yost officiating.
There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
HELEN R. MORGAN
LAVALE - Helen Rosell (Parker) Morgan, 74, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of LaVale, died Friday, July 4, 1997, at Mayfair Village Retirement Center, Columbus.
Born Nov. 25, 1922, in Bayard, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Ethel (King) Parker. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Donald DeSales Morgan, in 1990.
Mrs. Morgan was a previous member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Ellerslie.
Surviving are her son, Dr. Donald Alan Morgan and wife Laurie Ann, and grandson Jameson Donald Morgan, all of Galloway, Ohio; and one sister, Verda McCombs, Fairmont, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Saturday, July 12, 1997, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating.
Private interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
