HERBERT F. MOWRY
ELLERSLIE - Herbert Franklin Mowry, 83, of Ellerslie, died Monday, March 10, 1997, at the Veteran Administration Medical Center, Perry Point.
Born Jan. 11, 1914, at Kegg, Pa., he was the son of the late Franklin Lewis and Ida Maude (Lambert) Mowry.

Mr. Mowry was employed as an accountant by several local companies, and retired from Allegany Ballistics Laboratories. He served as a sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Corps in India and Burma during World War II. He was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Ellerslie, and the VFW Henry Hart Post 1411, Cumberland.

Surviving is his wife, Eileen A. (Dietz) Mowry, Cumberland. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa. on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, LaVale.

CHARLES A. MOYER
CUMBERLAND - Charles Arthur Moyer, 81, of Lebanon, Pa., formerly of 413 Pulaski St., Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at University Hospital- Hershey Medical Center.
Born Aug. 23, 1916, in Sharon, Pa., he was the son of the late Arthur Beryl Moyer and the late Ruth (Simons) Moyer.

Mr. Moyer was retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Co., department 41. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline Louise (Hoenicka) Moyer; a daughter, Paulette M. Sherwood and husband Bill, Lebanon, Pa.; a grandson, Justin Sherwood, Harrisburg, Pa.; and a granddaughter, MiKel Sherwood, Lebanon, Pa.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Father Frank Brauer officiating.

Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

FRANCIS C. MOYNIHAN
CUMBERLAND - Francis Conrad Moynihan, 69, of 1039 Braddock Rd., Cumberland, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at his home.
Born Jan. 13, 1928, in Rochester, N.Y., he was the son of the late Francis C. Moynihan, Sr., and the late Emma (Slicker) Moynihan Heim.

Mr. Moynihan was a retired employee of Stromberg Carlson in Rochester, N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving are a wife, Delores Jean (King) Moynihan, daughter of the late Walter King and Mrs. Leona King of 429 Columbia St., Cumberland; a daughter, Jody Piotter and husband, Jerry, Penfield, N.Y.; a grandson, Evan Francis Piotter; a sister, Melba Roggen, Winter Haven, Fla.; a niece and several nephews.

At Mr. Moynihan's request, his body was cremated at the Cumberland Crematory, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland.

A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Centre Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna officiating.

Arrangements were by Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland.

ELEANOR S. MULL
SHAWSVILLE, Va. - Eleanor Sirna Mull, 59, of Shawsville, passed away Sunday, June 29, 1997, following a brief illness.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Samuel.

Mrs. Mull was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, loved and respected by many. She was the founder of Sugar Run Lapidary and an esteemed jeweler and goldsmith.

Surviving are her husband, Dale R. Mull; three sons, Michael Mull and wife Martha, Christiansburg, Steven Mull and wife Lois, Cary, N.C., and David Mull, Shawsville; one daughter, Diana Barrette and husband Thomas, Holly Springs, N.C.; four grandchildren, Holly, Andrew, Colin, and Alison; four sisters, Carmelita Fleming, Ridgeley, W.Va., Mary Martin, Lansdowne, Pa., Joan Detrick, LaVale, Md., and Margaret Owens, Beckley, W.Va.; two brothers, Frank Sirna, Painesville, Ohio, and John Sirna, Berwyn, Pa.; and one brother-in-law, Donald Mull, Shawsville.

Mrs. Mull bequeathed her remains to the Anatomical Division of the Virginia Department of Health.

A memorial service in her honor will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

MARGARET M. MURRAY
FROSTBURG - Margaret Mary A. Murray, 78, of Burton Park Drive, Frostburg, died Sunday, July 6, 1997, at the Allegany County Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 18, 1918, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Suzanna Warner. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Murray Croft; and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Murray was a homemaker, and was Catholic by faith.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her husband, Alvay James Murray; two sons, Lawrence Allen Murray, Ocean City, N.J., and Barry James Murray, Rockledge, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father William Moody officiating.

Interment will be in the Louden Memorial Park, Baltimore.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the donor's choice.

ADAH JANE PAYNE
TYRONE, Ga. - Adah Jane Payne, 71, of 101 Point View Court, Tyrone, formerly of Mount Savage, and Cumberland, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at her residence.
Born Aug. 8, 1926, in Mount Savage, Md., she was the daughter of Jacob Adam Lemmert and Adah Belle (Folk) Lemmert. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Payne Sr.

Mrs. Payne was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, Fayette County, Ga.

Surviving are two daughters, Janice Wallace and husband Farrell, and Barbara Hand and husband Greg; one son, Robert F. Payne Jr. and wife Cathy; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, the Rev. Arthur Lemmert, Chapis, Canada, and the Rev. Walter Lemmert, Warfordsburg, Pa.; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Harvey, Cresaptown, Md.

Services were conducted at the Flat Creek Baptist Church on Monday, Sept. 8, 1997, with the Rev. William Priesly officiating, with a eulogy given by Mrs. Payne's daughter, Barbara Hand.

At Mrs. Payne's request, her body was cremated.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Missions in Canada, c/o Rev. Arthur Lemmert, 304 Pierrot St., Vald'or, Quebec, Canada J9P5C9.

Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Ga., was in charge of the arrangements.

MILDRED L. MURRAY
CUMBERLAND - Mildred L. (Walsh) Murray, 97, of Columbia Avenue, Cumberland, died Monday, June 2, 1997, at her residence.
Born Jan. 13, 1900, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Caroline (Zink) Walsh. She also was preceded in death by her husband, J. Robert Murray Sr., and one sister, Magdalene "Lena" Walsh.

Mrs. Murray was a former co-owner of the Liberty Tavern in Cumberland. She was a life member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church; a member of McKinley Chapter 12 Order of the Eastern Star; Royal Neighbors of America; and a former member of the Lutheran Women. Mildred always looked forward to her weekly visits from her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will all miss her very much.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn McGreevy and husband Eugene, Cumberland, and Catherine (Murray) Murray and husband Ward, Corriganville; one son, J. Robert Murray Jr. and wife Ann "Nance," Carlisle, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, Larry McGreevy, Mitzi Giles, Matt McGreevy, Rob Murray, Mike Murray, Lee Ann Murray, Andy Murray, Amy Murray, Lori Orndorff, Linda Dunn, Randy Murray, and Mollie Musso; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lee A. McDaniel officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

The family requests that contributions be directed to St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
