ARTHUR T. PECK
OAKLAND - Arthur Theodore Peck, 81, of Oakland, died Thursday, April 3, 1997, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Aug. 10, 1915, in McHenry, he was a son of the late Charles Peck, and Jane (Edgar) Peck. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Cora (Glotfelty) Peck, in 1986.
Mr. Peck was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a retired stone mason.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth H. Peck, Oakland, and Robert A. Peck, Swanton; three daughters, Dorothy I. Carr, Friendsville, Mary Jane Spear, Accident, and Cindy L. Greely, Fairmont, W.Va.; one brother, Joseph Peck, Oakland; two sisters, Mildred Paugh, Accident, and Josephine Harvey, Oakland; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Deep Creek Baptist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Donald Wilson officiating.
Interment will be in Thayerville cemetery. Friends may call at the church one half hour before services.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the Southern Rescue Squad or the Garrett County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
MARGARET A. MALLOY
MOUNT SAVAGE - Margaret A. Malloy, 96, of 1572 Mile Lane, N.W. died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997 at Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 5, 1901 in Paw Paw, W.Va., Mrs. Malloy was the daughter of the late David and Catherine (Lavin) Murray. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Malloy and also was preceded in death by three sons and four daughters.
Mrs. Malloy was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Sodality, Mount Savage. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are five daughters, Kathleen Wall, Pittsburgh, Pa., Mary Jo Brailer, Mount Savage, Bernadette Malloy, Chevy Chase, Rita Malloy, Cumberland, and Rosalie Bennett, Sykesville; three sons, James Malloy and wife, Dena, Mount Savage, William Malloy and wife, Jan, Arkansas, and Leo Malloy and wife, Nancy, Grantsville; 34 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 7:30 p.m. by Sister Joan Minella.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William Moody as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Saint Patrick's Parish cemetery.
JOHN M. MALONE
CUMBERLAND - John M. Malone, 52, of a suburban Pittsburgh, Pa. area, formerly of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997.
He was the beloved husband of Judith Comport Malone, father of Kelli Anne Malone and Kristopher John Malone and son-in-law of Mary and James Comport, Gibsonia, Pa. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles of the Cumberland area.
Mr. Malone was the son of the late Jack L. and Theo Rhodes Malone, formerly of Cumberland.
Friends will be received on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Simons Funeral Home, Inc., 7720 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh.
The funeral liturgy will be held in St. Alphonsus Church in Wexford, Pa., on Monday at 10 a.m.
Mr. Malone was employed by Duquesne Light Company for 27 years before he retired in 1997. He was station manager of various power stations including Phillips, Brunot Island, Cheswick and Elrama. Mr. Malone was a past member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Railroadiana Collectors Association.

CUMBERLAND - Rebecca C. Symons Manges, 89, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.

CUMBERLAND - B. Louise Mangold, 71, of the Cumberland Nursing Home, formerly of Keyser, W.Va., died Sunday, April 13, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 1, 1925, in Elk Garden, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Oscar Wesley and Elsie Ann (Eckhart) Simmons.
Mrs. Mangold was a homemaker and attended First Wesleyan Church, Cresaptown.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Wisenburg and husband Ronald, Cumberland, and Linda Arnold, Cumberland; one son, Dr. Terry S. Mangold and wife Lorraine, Keyser; three sisters, Virginia Decker, Bowling Green, Cumberland, Mildred Westfall, New Creek, W.Va., and Freda Wamsley, Louisville, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Blake and Brooke Mangold, Scott Shaffer, Angel Brewer, Laura and Christina Wisenburg, and Melissa Price; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Kevin T. Lowery officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
JOHNIE H. MANUEL
CANON CITY, Colo. - Johnie H. Manuel, 66, of Canon City, formerly of Rawlings, Md., died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1930, in Morrisville, Va., he was the son of the late Lucian T. and Wilda Mae (Kline) Manuel. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Manuel Sr.
Mr. Manuel retired in 1987 from Safeway Stores, Inc. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife Shirley (Ramey) Manuel; two sons, Randall J. Manuel, Greensboro, N.C.; Robert J. Manuel, LaVale; one brother, Theodore Little, Hyattsville, Md.; three sisters, Dolly Burum, Manassas, Va., Jeanie Wright, Check, Va., and Wilda Mae Boothe, Nappanee, Ind.; two grandchildren, Brittany and Amanda Manuel.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Michael Merrill officiating.
Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
RUTH E. MAPHIS
RICHMOND, Va. - Ruth Elaine Bowman Maphis, 65, of Richmond, died Friday, April 25, 1997.
Mrs. Maphis was a graduate of Lewis Gale Hospital School of Nursing, Roanoke, Va., she dedicated 40 years of nursing in private and public hospitals, specializing in the care of oncology patients. She was active in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) along with her husband, a retired pastor, and a member of Ashland Christian Church, Ashland, Va.
She is loved and survived by Robert W. Maphis, husband of 43 years, and children, Kimberlee Maphis Early of Nashville, Tenn., and R. Mark Maphis of Richmond; son-in-law, Robert L. Early and daughter-in-law, Toni Gorveatt; four grandchildren, Ann Hannah and John Bowman Early of Nashville, Tenn., Marcus Dylan and Noah Elaine Maphis of Richmond; dear friend, Deborah Adams Fischer of Louisville, Ky. Her siblings; Winnifred Elinor Bowman Stickley of Winchester, Va., Harry Kenneth Bowman of Manassas, Va., Jean Elizabeth Bowman Barbe of Burlington, W.Va., M. Johnson Bowman of Chase City, Va., Brian Donald Bowman of Roanoke, Va., and Janet Lynn Bowman Biser of Burlington, W.Va.; nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A memorial service will be held at Hanover Avenue Christian Church, 1723 Hanover Avenue, Richmond, on Sunday, April 27, 1997, at 3 p.m.
The family will receive guests following the service at the church. Additional parking is available at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Grove and Meadow.

JOHN V. MARDORFF
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - John Vinton Mardorff, 77, of 18 Fishermans Circle, Ormond Beach, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at Ormond Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Mardorff was a native of Cumberland, Md., moving to West Palm Beach in 1953, and retired to Ormond Beach in 1991. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served with the First Army at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a CLU with Metropolitan Life for 40 years, retiring as assistant office manager.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; his loving daughter, Nancy Valentine, Denver, Colo.; and grandson, Christopher Connors, Denver, Colo.
The Dale Woodward Funeral Home, Ormond Beach, is in charge of the arrangements.
