BERNARD F. MCCUSKER
CUMBERLAND - Bernard Francis McCusker, 75, of Cumberland, went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 26, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 30, 1921, in Wiley Ford, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Flora A. (Wilkins) McCusker. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Luther McCusker; and three sisters, Naomi Green, Emma Largent, and Clara E. Eckard.

Mr. McCusker was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving are one brother, Paul M. McCusker and wife Eleanor, Cumberland; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

A Christian wake will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Cumberland.

REV. WILMER E. RAYNER
BEDFORD, Texas - Rev. Wilmer E. Rayner,77, of Bedford, departed this life Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, joining his father, mother and one brother, in the presence of his Lord.
Born June 26, 1920, in Gilmore, Md., he was the son of the late James and Edna (Folk) Rayner. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. J. M. Rayner.

Rev. Rayner was a minister and evangelist in the Church of God, district of Pennsylvania. He loved and served the Lord from his youth. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.

Surviving are his loving wife Dorothy; two step-children, Dennis McCauley and wife Jolene, and Ann Johnson and husband Jay, Fort Worth, Texas; three daughters, Phyllis Stanley and husband Ronald, Smithsburg, Md., Jane Blerker and husband Lucas, Fort Worth, Texas, and Robin Codell and husband Larry, Fla.; one son, James, at home; two sisters, Geraldine Lee, Ina Chabot and husband Paul, Frostburg, Md.; one sister-in-law, Ruby Rayner, LaVale, Md.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Church of God, Hurst, Texas, on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Darryl Crawford officiating.

PAUL R. MCCUSKER
CUMBERLAND - Paul Robert McCusker, 80, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 1, 1917, in Ridgeley, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Flora A. (Wilkins) McCusker. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Haven McCusker and Bernard McCusker; and three sisters, Clara Eckard, Emma Largent and Naomi Greene.

Mr. McCusker was a professional painter in the Baltimore and St. Louis areas for more than 40 years. He retired to Cumberland in the early 1980s and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Eleanora (Tasker) McCusker; three daughters, Cynthia A. Black and husband Henry, Mildred A. Bishop and husband Joe, Paula J. Friend and husband James, all of Cumberland; one son, Joseph P. McCusker Sr., St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Gina M. Bell and husband Brad, Joseph M. Bishop and wife Susan, James P. Friend Sr. and special friend Crystal Miller, Brenda A. Smith and husband Greg, Toni D. McCusker, Randy S. Bishop, and Joseph P. McCusker Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren, Aja, Matthew and Sarah Bell, Kristin and Joe Bishop, Jeni-Lee and James Friend Jr., Scott and Beth Smith, and Ashley McCusker; and several nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Cusker's request, he was cremated.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday at 5 p.m. with Father Milton A. Hipsley officiating.

ANNA M. PHILLIPS
LONACONING - Anna Mary Phillips, 73, of Lonaconing, died Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at the Carroll County General Hospital, Westminster, Md., after an extended illness.
Born June 15, 1923, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Anna Marie (Schmulanbruch) Dashiells. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur George Phillips; and two brothers, G. Karl and J. Lester Dashiells.

Mrs. Phillips graduated from Eastern High School in 1941 and was a graduate of the Bard Avon Academy, Baltimore. Before retiring, she and her late husband were the owners of the Phillips Flower Shops in Lonaconing and Frostburg. She was later employed at the Ren Roy Flower Shop in Cumberland.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lonaconing; United Methodist Women; Eastern Star; Lonaconing Senior Citizens; and former member of the Phythian Sisters. She was an avid supporter of 4-H Clubs in Lonaconing and did project development work in horticulture and flower arranging for the 4-H. She was a member of FTD and Teleflora Associations. She enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad, gardening, sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. The family is thankful for the love and support of friends and caregivers throughout her illness.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Hoffman, Westminster, Elinor Dashiells "E.D." and husband David J. Dickshinski, Portsmouth, R.I.; one son, A. George Phillips and wife Sara R., Westminster; and 6 grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, April 12, 1997, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Mortimore and the Rev. Leslie R. Miles officiating.

Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery, Barton.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Llewellyn, Kevin Llewellyn, Dave Llewellyn, Robert Thomas, Charles Fazenbaker, and Tim Rowan.

Honarary pallbearers will be Edward Winters and John Jones.

AGNES L. MCDONALD
MIDLAND - Agnes L. McDonald, 88, formerly of Midland, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 20, 1908, in Midland, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara (Zavodny) Laslo. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John James McDonald; and her daughter, Katherine Atkinson.

Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Midland United Methodist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Washington Chapter 10, Lonaconing. She graduated from Midland High School in 1925. She was employed by the Board of Education in the cafeteria department for 26 years at Central, Valley, and Midland schools, and retired in 1973.

Surviving are one son, James and wife Carol, Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Marilyn O'Rourke and husband Timothy, Hagerstown, Alana Thompson and husband Vince, Gaithersburg, Gail Kallmyer and husband Glenn, Frederick, Gary Atkinson and wife Melinda, Calgary, Canada, Lori Haberlein and husband Bill, Smithsburg, Cathy Herrick and husband Philip, and Allan McDonald, all of Frostburg; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 10 will hold a service at 7:30 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be at Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Vince Thompson, Gary Lindner, Lester Wilson, Allan McDonald, Glenn Kallmyer, and Philip Herrick.

EILEEN McDONALD
BARTON - Eileen McDonald, 80, of Railroad Street, Barton, died Friday, May 9, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born April 26, 1917, in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Bessie (Miller) McDonald. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Warren, Osbourne, Wilbert, and Randolph McDonald; and three sisters, Eleanor Kidd, Dorothy Freeman, and Ethel Haller.

Miss McDonald was retired from the Allegany County Board of Education with 40 years of service. She was a member of Barton Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Barton High School, and also attended Cathermans Business School. Miss McDonald was an avid reader and loved all animals, especially her cats. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her longtime friends Shirley and Jack Steward, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m.

Services will be held at the Boal Memorial Chapel on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Vernon Gauthier officiating.

Interment will be at Laurel Hill cemetery, Moscow Mills.

Pallbearers will be Matt Cline, Mitchell Cline, James Ward III, Charles Ross, Mark Ross, and David Goad.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barton Presbyterian Church or the Animal Welfare Society, Cumberland.

JAMES E. MCDONALD
LAVALE - James E. McDonald, 85, of McKenzie Road, LaVale, died Saturday, March 8, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 27, 1911, in Addison, Pa., he was the son of the late George and Alice (Garlitz) McDonald. He also was preceded in death by a stepmother, Sadie (Knepp) McDonald; three brothers; and one stepbrother.

Mr. McDonald was a member of the LaVale Baptist Church, where he was Deacon Emeritus. He was Assistant Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 11 of LaVale Baptist Church. He was a life member of the NRA. He was a retired self-employed roofer and painter.

Surviving are his wife, Audrey M. (Herrell) McDonald; two daughters, Sylvia M. Sparks, LaVale, and Earlene M. McKenzie, Frostburg; one brother, William McDonald, Cumberland; three sisters, Regina Moore, Frederick, Pansy Stewart, Round Hill, Va., Betty Brant, Cumberland; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Doug G. Strother officiating.

Pallbearers will be David Kreek, Tom Hunt, Hugh Livengood, Marty Lewis, Art Wagnor and Randy Hostetler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ike Abe, Frank Byer, Steven Byer, David Dom, Joe Dawson, Bob Herrell and Harrison Lewis.

Interment will follow in the Eckhart cemetery.
