KATHRYN R. ROBISON
AVILTON - Kathryn Roberta Robison, 63, of 352 McKenzie Road, Lonaconing, (Avilton) died Friday, August 8, 1997, at her residence.
Born January 10, 1934, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Blanche Railey.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and was employed as a domestic for the Christian Brothers at Bishop Walsh High School.

Mrs. Robison is survived by three sons, James Robison, Streetsboro, Ohio, David Robison, Cumberland, and John Robison, Avilton; two daughters, Sharon Malloy, Avilton, and Linda French, Jupiter, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Brandon, Eric, Joshua, Micheal, Mark, Jessica, Justin and Sara; and three great- grandchildren, Christina, Sierra and Shelby.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Shrine, Avilton, on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Moody as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Ann's cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. Ann's cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.

BENJAMIN F. NICHOLS
HAGERSTOWN - Benjamin Franklin Nichols, 84, formerly of 923 St. Clair St., Hagerstown, died on Friday, Oct. 3, 1997 at the home of his son, 535 Bengate Rd., Chambersburg, Pa.
Born June 4, 1913 in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Henry and Pearl Cameron Nichols. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Wagner and Peggy Dormio. He also was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Cora Lee Nichols, on March 31, 1993.

Mr. Nichols was retired from the Maryland Correctional Institute in 1975, after 37 years of service. He came up through the ranks, and the last thirteen years of his employment he was the assistant superintendent in charge of custody and security.

He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown. He was a life member of the B.P.O. Elks #63 of Cumberland, having joined in 1943; the A.A.R.P.; and the Retirees Chapter 152 M.C.E.A. of Maryland.

Surviving are: one son, Franklin C. Nichols, Chambersburg, Pa.; two grandsons, Michael Nichols, Greencastle, Pa., and Mark Nichols, Darby, Mont.; and four great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John W. Ailstock officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

BESSIE V. NICHOLS
FRONT ROYAL, Va. - Bessie Viola Nichols, 80, of 117 Robison Road, Front Royal, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Friday, April 4, 1997, at the home of her daughter in Front Royal.
Born June 2, 1916, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Margaret Catherine (Hire) Crabtree. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard S. Nichols; and one sister, Edith Crabtree.

Mrs. Nichols was a homemaker and a former employee of the Community Bakery, Cumberland. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are three sons, Joseph E. Nichols and wife Stacey, Cumberland, Clarence A. Nichols and wife Shirley, Cumberland, and Robert L. Nichols, Tulsa, Okla.; four daughters, Marie L. Dickens and husband Richard, Front Royal, Pauline G. Wolfe and husband Paul, Carpendale, W.Va., Lillian M. MacMillan and husband Floyd, Orion, Mich., and Margaret L. Brennan and husband Bill, Keyser, W.Va.; one sister, Marie Diehl, Cumberland; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at St. Luke's Lutheran Church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen F. Yelovich officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the services.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Bessie V. Nichols to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601 or the American Cancer Society, 202 N. Washington St., Winchester, VA 22601.

Pallbearers will be Larry Dicken, Casey Dicken, Edward Logsdon, Roy White Jr., Richard Shaw and Richard Wratchford.

JAMES R. NICHOLS, JR.
WESTERNPORT - James R. Nichols Jr., 78, of Grande View Apartments, Westernport, died Thursday, July 10, 1997, at Moran Manor Nursing Home.
Born June 4, 1919, in Freeport, W.Va., he was a son of the late James R. Nichols Sr. and Elizabeth (Mitter) Nichols. He also was preceded in death by his wife Amanda L. (Ambrose) Nichols; and a son, James Michael Nichols.

Mr. Nichols was a laborer at Westvaco for 35 years in nos. 8 and 9 calender rooms. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served with Company B, 175th Infantry, 29th Division, in England as a cook. He was a 52 year life member of American Legion Victory Post No. 155, and a member of VFW Queens Point Memorial Post No. 6775.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Kathleen Duckworth and husband Tom, Rawlings; two grandchildren, Karl T. Duckworth, Baton Rouge, La., and Sonja Belcher and husband Mike, Cresaptown; two brothers, Duwain Nichols, Keyser, W.Va., and Richard Nicols and wife Helen, Westernport; five nieces; and one nephew.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Gordon Brubaker officiating.

Interment will be in Philos cemetery, Westernport.

Full military honors will be accorded at the graveside by American Legion Post No. 155 and VFW Post 6775.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Living Faith Fellowship Mission Fund, 1 North Main Street, Keyser, WV 26726.

LEO A. NILAND
LUKE - Leo Augusta Niland, 71, of 429 Pratt St., Luke, died Sunday, March 2, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 29, 1925, in Beryl, W.Va., he was a son of the late Frank Niland and the late Mary (Montgomery) Niland. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Elizabeth (Kidwell) Niland.

Mr. Niland retired from Westvaco Corp. in 1987 after 42 years of service. He retired as clerk in the outside department. He was a member of Saint Peters Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus Council 685. He attended Stoney Run Baptist Church. He was street commissioner for the town of Luke.

Surviving are his wife Fern (Martin) Green Niland; three stepdaughters, Fern Murray and husband Jim, Piedmont, W.Va., Gay Armentrout and husband John "Pete", Westernport, and Ruth Keller, Cumberland; seven stepgrandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and a special brother-in-law, "Snook" Kidwell and wife Joan, Luke.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Peters Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in Saint Peters cemetery, Westernport.

A Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

TINA L. NIXON
OLDTOWN - Tina L. "Tiny" Nixon, 71, of Oldtown, died Friday, Sept. 26, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born May 16, 1926, in Green Spring, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Seeders and Eula Seeders McInturff. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Nixon, who died Dec. 26, 1971; and two sisters, Velma Crabtree and Elinor Seeders.

Mrs. Nixon was a former employee at the Mill Stone Grocery Store for a number of years.

Surviving are one son, Steve Nixon and wife Beverly, Mexico Farms; one daughter, Brenda Davis and husband Kenney, Baltimore; one brother, Terry McInturff, Green Spring; two sisters, Nancy Miser, Winchester, Va., and Mary Adams, Baltimore; four grandchildren, Steve Nixon, Cumberland, Stephanie Nixon, Mexico Farms, Tim Davis and Ty Davis, both of Baltimore; and two great-grandsons, Joshua and Tyler Davis, both of Baltimore.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Interment will be in Davis Memorial cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ty Davis, Tim Davis, Steve Nixon, Gary Nixon, Lonnie Nixon, and Jason Clise.
