JOYCE R. ROLLE
WESTMINSTER - Joyce Rae Rolle, 49, of Westminster, died Sunday, May 18, 1997, at her home after an extended illness.
Born Aug. 21, 1947, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William Durbin and Mrs. Hilda M. (Smith) Root.
Mrs. Rolle was raised by her mother and stepfather, James Root, Cumberland. She was the wife of Raymond G. Rolle Jr., Westminster.
She was employed by Springfield Hospital Center as a nurse for 13 years. She was a member of the Ascension Episcopal Church, a graduate of Catonsville Community College, and the Allegheny Community College.
Surviving in addition to her mother, stepfather and husband are children, Carla R. Meinecke and Dr. R. Todd Winebrenner, both of Westminster; a brother, James W. Root, Cumberland; one granddaughter, Mackenzie Winebrenner; and eight nieces.
Friends will be received at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Memorial services will be at the Ascension Episcopal Church, 23 N. Court Street, Westminster, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ronald S. Fisher officiating.

JAMES P. ROOK SR.
OAKLAND - James Philip Rook Sr., 69, of 631 S. Third St., Oakland, died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Nov. 28, 1927, in Oakland, he was a son of the late Harold Eugene Rook and Edwana (Peddicord) Rook.
Mr. Rook worked as an insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance for 19 years, and later for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was a 50-year member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church; and a member of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department for 23 years, where he served as both president and secretary. He also was a past member of the Oakland-Mountain Lake Park Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly (Flanigan) Rook; one son, J. Philip Rook Jr., Oakland; two daughters, Diane Lynn Brown, Sacramento, Calif., and Lisa Marie Rook, Oakland; one brother, H. Eugene Rook, Harrisburg, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Harrison officiating.
Cremation will follow.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department or the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad.
KATHRYN B. ROSENMARKLE
CUMBERLAND - Kathryn Beckman Rosenmarkle, 73, formerly of Cumberland Arms, died Thursday, April 24, 1997, in the Hospice Unit of Memorial Hospital.
Born August 13, 1923, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late E. Maurice and Mary Zirkle Beckman. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Zirkle Beckman; a daughter, Cynthia Ellen Rosenmarkle; a stepsister, June Bittner, Annapolis; and a son-in-law, Robert Earl Shoemaker.
Mrs. Rosenmarkle was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, LaVale.
Kathryn loved her God, her church, her family and her many friends. Before her health slowed her down, she was always actively trying to be of service to others. She was active in PTA, the Girl Scouts, and served her church family in many ways. Cooking was her passion and she was always finding ways to cook for anyone that she thought she could help.
She is survived by her former husband and friend, Ellsworth Vincent Rosenmarkle, Leesburg, Fla.; two daughters, Mary Rebecca Shoemaker, LaVale, Kathryn Beckman Miltenberger and her husband, Larry, Cumberland; two sons, Robert James Rosenmarkle and Jacque, Ladysmith, Va., and David Patterson Rosenmarkle and his wife, Victoria, Burke, Va.; one sister, Mary Patterson Wray and husband James, Va.; one stepsister, Lucie Brown, Ariz.; one uncle, William Godfrey Zirkle, Winchester, Va.; 15 grandchildren, Kimberly Kay Shoemaker, Kelly Suzanne Wrachford, Kerry Lynn Shoemaker, Tabitha Lynn Shoemaker, Cynthia Marie Shoemaker, Patricia Renee Shoemaker, Sandra Lee Shoemaker, David Scott Rosenmarkle, Collin Frederick Rosenmarkle, Tristen Shelina Rosenmarkle, Charles Wayne Conway III, Christopher Aaron Conway, Kirstyn Nicole Conway, Lawrence Vincent Miltenberger, and Mary Kathryn Miltenberger; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Rebecca Shoemaker, Shawn James Wrachford, Brittany Nicole Wrachford, and Whitley Ellyn Shoemaker.
Hafer Chapel of the Hills is in charge of the funeral arrangements. There will be no visitation and interment will be private at Sunset Park.
The Rev. Charles Erzkus will conduct a Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Kathryn on Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Vocke Road, LaVale.
The family will be at the church one hour before the service to receive friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, Kathryn had requested that donations be given to the Building Fund at Christ Lutheran Church, Vocke Road, LaVale, MD 21502, in support of the construction of the new church sanctuary.
BESSIE N. ROSS
HAGERSTOWN - Bessie Nancy Mae Ross, 81, of Hagerstown, formerly of Wiley Ford, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Aug. 17, 1915, in Oldtown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Margaret Catherine (Crouse) Mason. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Ross, in 1983; one sister, Clara E. Rowe; and five brothers, Earl Mason, Peter Mason, Thomas Mason, Ervin Mason, and infant, Walter Mason.
Surviving are one daughter, Doris M. Baker, Hagerstown; one son, Roy L. Ross and wife Lola, Wiley Ford; two sisters, Lola A. Hamilton, Wiley Ford, and Nellie C. Martin, Rainelle, W.Va.; 8 grandchildren, James Baker, Thomas Baker, Patricia Weigle, Steven Ross, Royce Ross, Kathy Baker, Nancy Baker, and Linda Hapman; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Alvin Shaffer officiating.
Interment will be in Dawson cemetery.
DAVID V. ROSS
STEPHENSON, Va. - David Vincent Ross, 50, of Martinsburg Pike, Stephenson, died Thursday, August 7, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester.
Born July 17, 1947, in Frostburg, Md., he was a son of the late Henry and Evelyn (Bluebaugh) Ross. He also was preceded in death by a stepson, William L. Bohrer.
Mr. Ross was a drill leader on the second shift at Abex Corporation. He had 26 years of service with Abex. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Martha (Palmer) Ross; one daughter, Jennifer Ross, Gaithersburg; one stepdaughter, Karen Steeves, Winchester; two stepsons, Linden Bohrer Jr. and Alvin L. Bohrer, both of Winchester; two sisters, Lois A. Jenkins, Frostburg, and Edith L. Bridges, Mount Savage; and five step- grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Jone Funeral Home, 228 South Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Anthony A. Wadsworth officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Hebron cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Jenkins, Eddie Bridges, Tim Jenkins, Joe Bohrer, Linden Bohrer, Dave Kelly, Carl Fredman, David Palmer, Philip Palmer, Tommy Palmer, and Red Fuller.
JEFFREY K. ROSZELL
OAKLAND - Jeffrey K. Roszell, 30, of Oakland, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, as the result of an accident.
Born April 20, 1967, in Baltimore, he was the son of William E. Roszell III and Sharon (Moore) Roszell.
Mr. Roszell was employed as a mechanic, was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, and was an avid hunter, bowler, and softball player.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, William E. Roszell IV, Oakland, and Edward M. Roszell, Friendsville.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Robinson officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.

LOUISE L. ROTHE
CUMBERLAND - Louise L. Rothe, 71, Fairview Avenue, Cumberland, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was a patient at Fairview Avenue, Cumberland.
She was born in Philadelphia on Sept. 2, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Guerino D'Annunzio and Marie (Ciano) D'Annunzio. She also was preceded in death by her husband Edwin T. Rothe, Sr., who died on Nov. 30, 1972; one sister Josephina Marcone; and one brother Pasquale D'Annunzio.
Mrs. Rothe was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by three sons, Henry John Rothe, Jacksonville, Fla., Edwin T. Rothe, Jr., Dunedin, Fla., Joseph Michael Rothe, Cumberland; one daughter, Maria Y. Kenney, Cumberland; five grandchildren, Mark Rothe and Marlo Rumgay, both of Cumberland, Jason Kenney, Hagerstown, Joshua Rothe, Cumberland, and Emma Rothe, Jacksonville, Fla., two great-grandchildren, Marc Rothe and Meghan Rothe, both of Cumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Father Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.
Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Mark Rothe, Jason Kenney, Anthony Rumgay, David Broadwater, Michael Moyer, and James Sills.
