VINCENT C. SHUCK
CRESAPTOWN - Vincent Carroll "KO's" Shuck, 77, of Brant Avenue, Cresaptown, died Sunday, June 1, 1997, at his residence.
Born Oct. 30, 1919, at Westernport, he was a son of the late John Conrad Shuck and Cecelia (Healy) Shuck.
Mr. Shuck retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass after having been a glass worker for 24 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on USS Ranger Aircraft Carrier 4. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Nancy Hanks Post 3518, Keyser, W.Va.; member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church; and member of PPG Retirees Association.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn J. (Fairgrieve) Shuck; one stepson, Thomas G. Kidwell and wife Betty, Cresaptown; one sister, Helen Jenkins, Lonaconing; and three grandchildren, Thomas V. Kidwell, Karen Lynn Fretz and husband Osmund, and Brian Lee Kidwell and wife Susan.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Laurel Hill cemetery, Moscow Mills.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of memorials to Memorial Hospital Hospice, Cumberland, or the Cresaptown United Methodist Church.
VFW Nancy Hanks Post 3518 will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12:45 p.m.
CHALMER SHUPE
OLDTOWN - Chalmer "Barry" Shupe, 66, of Oldtown, died Monday, Aug. 25, 1997 at his residence.
Born February 13, 1931 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Clifford L. and Dorothy I. (Keller) Shupe. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Robert C. Shupe.
Mr. Shupe was retired from Lever Brothers in Baltimore. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, Fort Cumberland Post 13 and the Oldtown V.F.W.
Surviving are his wife Regina E. (Snyder) Shupe; two sons, Kevin D. Shupe and wife Rose, Oldtown, Berry Ray Shupe and wife Shawna, Fort Bragg, N.C.; five daughters, Pamela A. Sills and husband James, Cumberland, Sherrie L. Clingerman and husband Larry, Largent, W.Va., Tammy L. Hayes and husband Robert, Dawn I. Largent and husband Jeffrey, and Stacy J. Smith and husband Shane, all of Paw Paw, W.Va.; two brothers, William D. Shupe and wife Yvonne, Clifford L. Shupe and wife Rose, all of Baltimore; one sister, Ella P. Barberry and husband Benny, Baltimore; and 14 grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. William H. Bice officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
JOSEPH W. SILBER, JR.
OLDTOWN - Joseph William Silber Jr., 81, of Oldtown, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 16, 1916, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Joseph William Silber Sr. and the late Alta Rebecca (Bennett) Silber. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Charles Silber; and one sister, Ghay Lena Athey.
Mr. Silber was retired from the Maryland State Department of Agriculture in Allegany County and worked with the Allegany County Soil Conservation District as a Conservation Aide. He attended Bethel Assembly of God Church, Oldtown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Airborne Army Glider Division, World War II.
Surviving are his wife Frances Elizabeth (Hinkle) Silber, Oldtown; and one brother, Carnie Willis Silber and wife Helen, Accident.
Friends will be received at the Bethel Assembly of God, Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the church on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Wilson officiating.
Interment will be in the Davis Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Earl Cooper, William McMillan Sr., Mike Twigg, Timothy Snyder, Tom Kurek, Leroy Bennett, Ed "Rusty" Jones and Harry Shryrock.
Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the combined veterans Honor Guard.
The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.
BENJAMIN R. SIMS
KITZMILLER - Benjamin Richard Sims, 78, of Kitzmiller, died Saturday, June 28, 1997, at his residence.
Born Nov. 30, 1918, in Vindex, he was a son of the late Herbert and Minnie (Sharpless) Sims.
Mr. Sims was retired from the Patuxent Institution, Jessup. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II, a member of American Legion Post No. 0113, the Hi-Way Assembly of God Church, and former member of the Kitzmiller Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Eula (Burrell) Sims; one son, Richard Sims, Baltimore; two daughters, Betty Turner, Elk Garden, W.Va., and Laura Berg, Baltimore; one brother, Alonzo "Lonnie" Sims, Kitzmiller; and five grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Hi-Way Assembly of God Church on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the IOOF cemetery, Elk Garden.
HILDA E. SINES
SWANTON - Hilda E. Sines, 96, of Frostburg Village Nursing Home, formerly of Savage River Road, Swanton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 13, 1901, in Bond, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Edith Broadwater. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Sines, in 1989; one brother; and one sister.
Mrs. Sines was a homemaker and a member of the Dunkard Brethren Church, Broadwater Chapel, Savage River Road.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Sines and wife Dorothy, Rawlings, and Ronald Sines and wife Lavona, Frostburg; four daughters, Hazel Goff and husband Wayne, Keyser, W.Va., Hollis Wilt and husband Ellis, Savage River Road, Freda Labbe and husband Rene, Rawlings, and Alma Kroll and husband Eldred, Barton; three sisters, Mamie Broadwater, Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Sadie Wilt, Mountain Lake Park, and Lavada Bittinger, Rawlings; one brother, Alva Broadwater, Savage River Road; 18 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Elder Gene Kauffman and the Rev. Homer Beeman officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
JAMES SIRBAUGH, SR.
CUMBERLAND - James H. Sirbaugh, Sr., 86, of Cumberland, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg.
Born May 26, 1911, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Benjamin H. and Mary Sirbaugh. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grace Sirbaugh, June 4, 1996; one son, James H. Sirbaugh, Jr.; two daughters, Mary Miller and Geraldine Brode; three brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Sirbaugh was a roofer for Virginia Roofing Company, Alexandria, Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of V.F.W. Henry Hart Post #1411.
Surviving are one son, Harold K. Sirbaugh, Sr., and wife, Patricia, Cumberland; two sisters, Frances Iser, Cumberland, Betty Harris, Baltimore; nine grandchildren, Michael A. Natale and wife, Sharon, Gaithersburg, Brenda A. Ortiz and husband, Elphy, Jessup, Mark A. Natale and wife, Kelly, Chesapeake Beach, Tresa B. Mazer and husband, Jim, Avilton, J. Marie Grimm, Cumberland, James A. Grimm and wife, Susan, Clearfield, Pa., Terri L. Stottlemyer and husband James, Rawlings, Lisa A. Wright, Frostburg, Harold K. Sirbaugh, Jr. and Ritha, Mowequa, Ill.; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
