DONALD A. "BUD" SHOAP
CUMBERLAND - Donald A. "Bud" Shoap, 61, formerly of 804 Michigan Avenue, Cumberland, died Thursday at Garrett Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Jan. 21, 1936, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Donald A. and Estella Bell (Blubaugh) Shoap.
Mr. Shoap formerly worked for the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company and the Cumberland Country Club.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country from 1954 until 1962. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Oldtown Road, Cumberland.
Surviving are his wife Freda Jane (Burley) Shoap; two sons, David A. Shoap and wife Jennifer, Cumberland, Robert E. Turner and wife Robin, Westernport; four daughters, Trina D. Markwood and husband Virgil, Ridgeley, W.Va., Freda J. Shaw and husband Richard, Cumberland, Rita J. and Mark Dawson, Cumberland, and Donna E. Deloach and husband Richard, Swanton; one brother, Kenneth Shoap and wife Susie, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Sherrill Dillon officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

LEONARD C. SHOCKEY
FROSTBURG - Leonard C. Shockey, 83, of 1071 Finzel Road, Frostburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1997, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 21, 1913, in Pocahontas, Pa., he was the son of the late Henry and May (Jones) Shockey. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche (McKenzie) Shockey, and three brothers, Freeman, Carl, and Roy Shockey.
Mr. Shockey was retired from the Celanese Fiber Corporation Filtration Department. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 348, and was a life member of the Eastern Garrett Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are one son, Gerald Shockey and wife Lois, Finzel; three daughters, Alice Snyder and husband Donald "Joe," Finzel, Nancy Barmoy and husband Terry, Meyersdale, Pa., and Faye Collins and husband Jerry, Bel Air; three sisters, Verda Werner, Finzel, Pearl McKenzie, Ravanna, Ohio, and Charlotte Wiley, Barberton, Ohio; one brother, Harold Shockey, Johnstown, Pa.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Route 40, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jay West officiating.
Pallbearers will be David Kitis, Dwayne Kitis, Pete Smith, Tim Clark, Jim Raley, and Ron Gaumer.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Sacred Heart Hospice Unit or to the American Cancer Society.
THOMAS R. SHORT
LOTHIAN - Thomas Richard Short, three weeks old, of Lothian, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at National Childrens' Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Born Sept. 25, 1997, he was the son of Robert C. and Karen (Rogan) Short, Lothian.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his maternal grandparents, George and Nancy Rogan, Millersville, formerly of Cumberland, and paternal grandparents, Anna Short, Lanham, and Jack Short, Addison, Ill.
Graveside services will be conducted at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Route 214, Davidsonville, on Saturday at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Childrens' Hospital, 111 Michigan Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20006.
The Evans Funeral Home, Bowie, is in charge of the arrangements.

CUMBERLAND - Vivian L. Short, 68, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, April 2, 1997, at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Born September 8, 1928, in Chaneysville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Top V. Browning and Etta (Rollins) Browning. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond S. Short Sr., in 1978; one brother, Fred Browning; two sisters, Nanny Lyons and Slyvilia Logeston.
Mrs. Short was a homemaker, a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 914, Cumberland and AARP. Mrs. Short was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are one son, Raymond S. Short Jr. and wife Dianne, LaVale; one daughter, Bonnie J. Switzer, Koppel, Pa.; two brothers, Willis Browning, Warren, Ohio, William Browning, Staten Island, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Daniel Bender, Ringgold, Ga., Donald Bender and wife Joni, Beaver Falls, Pa., Kara and Tyler Short, both of LaVale; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Joseph Bender, Beaver Falls, Pa.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Friday from 7 to 9 and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Esther M. Kuhre officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

JAMES A. SHROYER
CUMBERLAND - James Adam Baker Shroyer, 69, of 123 Clement St., Cumberland, died Wednesday, April 3, 1997, at his home.
Mr. Shroyer was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Somerset County, Pa.
Mr. Shroyer was retired from CSX as an electrician's helper with 43 years of service. He was a member of the Wiley Ford Assembly of God Church, and the Senior Citizens Meal Site, Cash Valley Road. He coached in the Hot Stove League, Outdoor Club Team.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Mae (Headley) Shroyer, Cumberland; two sons, Steven A. Shroyer, and Scott D. Shroyer, both of Cumberland; two grandsons, Travis Shroyer, and Christopher Shroyer, both of Cumberland; and a half sister, Betty Chrislip, Stroystown, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Wiley Ford Assembly of God Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Florice A. Fansler officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Carl Benson, Gary Blacker, Ed Martz, Bob Madden, Joe McKay, and Tim Higson.
