ELVA A. SLIDER
OLDTOWN - Elva A. Slider, 76, of 19300 Windego Lane, Oldtown, where she resided with her daughter-in-law Susan and grandchildren Billy and Kasey Slider, died Sunday, May 5, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 20, 1920, in Greenridge, she was the daughter of Michael E. McCabe Sr. and Effie S. (Hartman) McCabe. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Slider; two brothers, Arlie Ray and Michael E., Jr.; and two sisters, Mollie M. and Edna.
Mrs. Slider was a retired beautician. She was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, Kifer.
Surviving are her son, William J. Slider II, Oldtown; six daughters, Patricia A. Correll and husband the Rev. Dr. Merle, Schellsburg, Pa., Sandra S. Coughenour and husband David, Ballston Lake, N.Y., Carla L. Bolyard and husband Richard, Oldtown, Bonita D. Goede and husband Byron, Jacksonville, Fla., Linda K. Nelson and husband Edward, Jr., Fredericksburg, Va., and Cheri L. French and husband Don, Jefferson; four brothers, William J. McCabe, Cumberland, Raymond J. McCabe, Hagerstown, Roy J. McCabe, Keyser, W.Va., and George M. McCabe, Taberg, N.Y.; three sisters, Arveda V. Piper, Oldtown, Effie S. Slider, Annapolis, and Viola A. Jessen, Lakewood, Colo.; grandchildren Kim Okland, Kecia Arnold, David Coughenour Jr., Shane Bolyard, Todd Goede, Timothy Goede, Laura Nelson, Kara Nelson, Kayla Nelson, Katherine French, Hannah French, and Billy and Kasey Slider; and three great-grandchildren, John Okland, Kelsey Okland, and Perry Arnold.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday, May 6, 1997, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Merle Correll, son-in-law, officiating.
Pallbearers will be William Slider II, William Slider III, Barney Piper, David Coughenour Jr., Shane Bolyard, Todd Goede, and Tim Goede.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, Kifer.
THE REV. NELLIE G. SMALL
FROSTBURG - The Rev. Nellie G. Small, 56, of Beall Street Extended, Frostburg, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997, at her residence.
Born June 9, 1941, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of Mary Ann (Paige) White, Frostburg, and the late Milton L. White. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Oliver White; and one sister, Marjorie Anita White.
Rev. Small was assistant pastor of Dickerson A.M.E. Church. She received an associate arts degree in theology and mental health, and was a licensed practical nurse. She was a member of the Faith Chapter No. 31 Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Horace T. Small; a daughter, Elizabeth Marchesa Barroso, Frostburg; four sisters, Eleanor White, Cumberland, Rose Mary Harris, Columbus, Ga., Lois Ann Gray, Hollywood, Calif., and Sylvia White, Frostburg; one brother, Milton O. "Buddy" White, Rochester, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Frost Mansion Funeral Home, 58 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Faith Chapter No. 31 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Vivian Castain officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Walter Bartlett, Milford Bruce, Stewart Tyman, Sean White, Jack Rafferty, and Franklin Yates.
G. JUNE SMILEY
CUMBERLAND - G. June Smiley, 79, formerly of the Booth Towers, died Saturday, June 28, 1997, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born June 4, 1918, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Gotleib and Pearl (Peebles) Forster. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Adelbert L. Smiley; and three sisters, Katherine Forster, Betty Mackert, and Ruth Forster.
Mrs. Smiley was a 1936 graduate of Allegany High School. She assisted her husband with the A.L. Smiley Shoe Repair business. After his death, she worked at Super Shoes.
Mrs. Smiley was a member of the Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, where she belonged to the Friendly Heart Class.
Surviving are one son, George Fred Smiley, LaVale; two daughters, Nancy Hartman, Cumberland, and Norma Markley, Short Gap, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Candace McNamara, Misty Lindsey, Brett Smiley, Krista Markley, Johnny Markley and Jeff Smiley; and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Amy McNamara.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 2, 1997, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Lease officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

PATRICIA TASCHENBERGER
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Patricia Taschenberger, 64, of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, May 14, 1997, at Mercy Hospital, Charlotte, N.C.
Born Jan. 4, 1933, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Dora (Schad) Pittman.
Mrs. Taschenberger was a homemaker. She was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are her husband, James W. Taschenberger; two daughters, Tari Carter and Jamie Lee, both of Rock Hill; and one grandson, Master Chase Michael Lee, Rock Hill.
Graveside services will be conducted at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland, on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert L. Nair officiating.
The Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, is in charge of local arrangements.
GERTRUDE A. TEETER
CUMBERLAND - Gertrude A. "Gertie" Teeter, 65, of 14406 Bender Lane SE, Cumberland, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born March 18, 1932, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Boyd B. and Carrie A. (Bevan) Garland.
Mrs. Teeter was retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company in the payroll department. She had also been employed at First National Bank. Mrs. Teeter was a faithful member of the Second Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth O. Teeter, Cumberland; her mother-in-law, Elsie Teeter, Cumberland; two stepdaughters, Lorrie Ackerman and husband Grayson, Short Gap, W.Va., and Pam Teeter, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a stepson, Keith Teeter, Richmond, Va.; a brother, Rev. Harold R. Garland and wife Mildred, Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Virginia O. Shank, Cumberland, and Marcella "Jean" Mock, Warsaw, Ind.; two step-grandchildren, Mike Ackerman and Steve Ackerman, both of Short Gap, W.Va.; numerous nieces and nephews; and one very special family, the Floyd Bender family, Cumberland.
Gertie was a source of love and strength to all who met her.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Second Baptist Church, 1 Grand Avenue, Cumberland, on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sherrill Dillon officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Second Baptist Church.
KENNETH O. TEETER
CUMBERLAND - Kenneth Owen Teeter, 72, of 14406 Bender Lane, SE, Cumberland went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997 at his home.
Born Feb. 3, 1925 in Cumberland, he was the son of Elsie (Weimer) Teeter, Cumberland, and the late James Teeter. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude "Gertie" (Garland) Teeter on Aug. 28, 1997; and three brothers, Leonard Teeter, McKinley Teeter, and Donald Teeter.
Mr. Teeter was a retired employee of Bachman Transfer Company. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. His favorite hobby was golfing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.
Surviving besides his mother are a son, Keith Teeter, Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Lorrie Ackerman and husband Grayson, Short Gap, W.Va.; and Pam Teeter, Pittsburgh, Pa.; two grandchildren, Mike and Steve Ackerman, Short Gap; and one very special family, the Floyd Bender family, Cumberland.
