LILLIAN WATTENSCHAIDT
CUMBERLAND - Lillian Leona Wattenschaidt, 68, of Bel Air, Cumberland, formerly of Lonaconing and Midland, died Sunday, April 6, 1997, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore.
Born Sept. 16, 1928, in Midland, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian (Beveridge) Gray. She also was preceded in death by one brother, Carlyle Gray; and one sister, Renna Hyde.

She was a homemaker. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, where she served as a deacon. She was a member of the Miriam Circle for many years. She was an active member of the Women's Christian Association of Allegany County. She was an active member of the AARP Chapter 2400 and a volunteer for a number of organizations. She was a graduate of Beall High School.

Surviving are her very caring husband William D. Wattenschaidt, Bel Air; one son, Keith Wattenschaidt and wife Regina, Hagerstown and his daughters, Leighann and Lori and her husband Chris and their two daughters, Katie and Maggie; two daughters, Vicki L. DeVore and husband Donald, and their three children, Bill, Ben and Meghan; Lillian Beth Andrews and her two children Jenny and Justin; three sisters, Hilda McGowan, Midland, Mary Main, Short Gap, and Doris Spiker, Midland; and several nieces and nephews.

At her request, the body was cremated.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 11, 1997, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, with the Rev. Vernon Gauthier officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Laurel Hill cemetery, Moscow Mills.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of memorials to the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, Md.

The Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GERALDINE M. "GERRY" WAUGAMAN
CUMBERLAND - Geraldine M. "Gerry" Waugaman of Cumberland died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Green Spring, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George Twigg and Mae (Cheshire) Foley. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Walter Harris Waugaman, Sr., in 1976.

She was retired from the Maryland Department of Social Services, having been a Human Service Aide.

Mrs. Waugaman was a member of Beth Shan Assembly of God Church. She was an avid bowler and an animal lover.

Survivors include her daughter, Esther M. Waugaman, Cumberland; a son, Walter H. Waugaman, Jr., Philadelphia.

Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at Beth Shan Assembly of God Church on Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Gregory Georg officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

ROBERT D. WEAVER
LAKEHURST, N.J. - Robert Dennis Weaver, 55, of Lakehurst, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Wednesday, August 6, 1997, at his residence in Lakehurst.
Born September 14, 1941, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Frank C. and Sarah B. (Barnes) Weaver.

Mr. Weaver retired in 1981 as a Sergeant 1st Class for the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW, N.J., and the N.J. Amvets.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Weaver; one son, Frank C. Weaver II and wife Laura, Jackson, N.J.; one daughter, Cheryl Drew and husband Wayne, Cumberland; two stepsons, Frank and Sam Vannell; one sister, Nina Straser, College Park, Md., and one granddaughter, Kylie Brianna.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack W. Lancaster officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

EUGENE R. WEBBER
KEEDYSVILLE - Eugene Raymond Webber, 75, of Keedysville, formerly of Bedford, Pa., died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born April 29, 1921, in Knoxville, he was a son of the late James Graham Webber and Oretta (Swope) Webber. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Eakle) Webber, on April 19, 1994.

Mr. Webber was a retired clerk with the B & O Railroad, Cumberland. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Bedford, Pa., and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Knoxville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda K. Growden, Westernport, and Pamela M. Wilens, Gaithersburg; one brother, Malcom J. Webber, Boonsboro; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Friends will be received at the Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, Thursday, March 27, 1997, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church, Knoxville, Friday, March 28, 1997, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. George Harpel officiating.

Interment will be in Reformed cemetery, Knoxville.

MARGARET L. WEBER
CUMBERLAND - Margaret L. "Toots" Weber, 76, of Cumberland, died Thursday, August 7, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born February 6, 1921, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William and Cora (Nose) Nies. She also was preceded in death by a brother, William B. Nies.

Mrs. Weber was a graduate of Fort Hill High School. She was retired from the Allegany County Board of Education. Mrs. Weber had worked as a cook at various schools, including Mount Royal School and West Side School. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, Nial F. Weber; one son, Ronald F. Weber and wife Fran, Cumberland; one daughter, Sue Ann Weber, Cumberland; one grandson, Shane Weber, Cumberland; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Nies, Rock Hill, S.C.

Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Vance Pastorius, OFM, Cap., as celebrant.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason-Dixon Lions Club of Greater Mount Savage Area, c/o James R. Bohn, Secretary, 15610 Mile Lane NW, Mount Savage, MD 21545.

RALPH H. WEEKS
OAKLAND - Ralph Hamilton Weeks, 75, of Oakland, died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Dec. 20, 1921, in Loch Lynn, he was a son of the late Raymond Lyle Weeks and Gladys (Crane) Weeks. He also was preceded in death by one son, Ralph H. Weeks Jr., in 1953.

Mr. Weeks was employed by the Kray and Stanley coal companies in Crellin for 23 years, and later by Penn Electric, from which he retired in 1985. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and a trustee.

Surviving are his wife, Clara (Liller) Weeks; one daughter, Janet K. Edwards and husband Richard, Swanton; one son, Randy S. Weeks and wife Juanita Sue, Oakland; one brother, Joseph Weeks, Wilmington, N.C.; three sisters, Marjorie DeBerry, Port St. John Cocoa, Fla., JoAnn Dodge, Finksburg, and Rayma Weeks, Mountain Lake Park; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Deep Creek Baptist Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley cemetery.

THE REV. GEORGE L. WEHLER
FROSTBURG - The Rev. George L. Wehler, 79, of Frostburg, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 13, 1918, at Thomasville, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles and Maggie (Eisenhart) Wehler. He also was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Rev. Wehler received a bachelor's degree in philosophy and education from Franklin and Marshall College, and a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary. Later he did graduate work at Union Seminary and the University of Pittsburgh.

On June 7, 1943, Rev. Wehler was elected pastor of the Salem United Church of Christ, where he initiated many improvements in the church facilities. The congregation was the first in Frostburg to observe the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. He retired as Pastor of Salem UCC in 1985, and then served Zion Lutheran and Reformed Church in Wellersburg, Pa.

In the Somerset Association of the Penn West Conference, United Church of Christ, Rev. Wehler's work in the denomination was so noteworthy that he was nominated for the Allan S. Meck Award.

Rev. Wehler was a former member and past president of the Frostburg Rotary Club and the Frostburg Business Association. He played clarinet in the Frostburg Arion Band for many years.

He was instrumental in the founding of the Frostburg Museum Association and in securing a building for the museum to house local antiques and artifacts. He served as president and member of the board of directors. He was chairman of the Frostburg City Historical Commission, an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the State Trooper Lodge, and an honorary member of the Beall High School Alumni Association.

He was a member of Mountain Lodge 99 AF & AM, and Ali Ghan Shrine where he was a member of the Band and Mounted Patrol Unit, Salem Royal Arch Masonry Chapter 18, Antioch Commandry 6, Knights Templar.

Surviving are his wife, Suzanne (Hosken) Wehler; one son, G. Lewis Wehler and wife Anne, Frostburg; three daughters, Cynthia Wehler, Frostburg, and fiance Floyd Price, Christine Sturtz and husband Victor, Barrelville, and Sherie Wilson and husband Steven, Frostburg; two grandchildren, Karen and Robert Wilson; and one brother, Maurice L. Wehler, York, Pa.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Salem United Church of Christ, 78 Broadway, Frostburg, on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence A. Neumark and Dr. Paul L. Westcoat Jr., of Penn West Conference UCC, officiating. The body will be taken to the church at noon.

Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be George Griffith, Leroy Himmelwright, Clyde Yutzy, Paul Jenkins, Robert Porter and James Porter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Church of Christ, 78 Broadway, Frostburg, MD 21532 or to the Frostburg Museum, P.O. Box 92, Frostburg, MD 21532.
