MARGARET E. YUTZY
LAVALE - Margaret E. Kahl Yutzy, 94, of 1206 LaVale Avenue, LaVale, died Friday, July 18, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospial.
Born December 27, 1902, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Henry William and Mary Anna (Schmidt) Kahl. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Wellington Earl Yutzy, in 1966; a sister, Mary Jane Peterson; and five brothers.

Mrs. Yutzy was a retired employee of the Celanese Corporation where she was a health nurse. She graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her niece, Margaret Jane Peterson and husband Charles E. Larkin, Waldorf; a grandniece, Alyssa; and a grandnephew, Nicholas; and several other nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m.

Interment will be in Hillcrest cemetery.

ALICE F. ZORICK
CUMBERLAND - Alice F. (Gogerty) Zorick, 76, of Cumberland, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice.
Born May 1, 1921, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John D. Gogerty Sr. and Twila L. (Corrick) Gogerty. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley E. Zorick, in 1992; and one brother, John D. Gogerty Jr.

Mrs. Zorick was a homemaker. She was a 1938 graduate of Fort Hill High School, and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Ladies of the Moose.

Surviving are one son, Frank J. Zorick, M.D., and wife Elizabeth, Toledo, Ohio; one daughter, Teresa M. Gross and husband Alexander, Gaithersburg; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Gogerty, Cleveland, Ohio, and Doris Decker, Cumberland; and four grandchildren, Ethan R., Seth R. and Max T. Zorick, and Hannah X. Gross.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Monday at noon with the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary's cemetery.

A Christian Wake will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 9 p.m.

The family requests that contributions be made to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Restoration Fund, Centre Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.

ALICE M. ZAIS
WESTERNPORT - Alice Mary Louise Zais, 74, of 288 Main St., Westernport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on Aug. 16, 1922, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise B. (Holler) Wilson. She also was preceded in death by six brothers; and one infant sister.

Mrs. Zais was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a homemaker and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, W.Va., and the Women's Society of Christian Service, Anna King Circle, Pythian Sisters.

Surviving are her husband Marvin Q. Zais Sr.; one daughter, Norma Jean Buckholtz and husband George "Buck", Bloomington; two sons, Marvin Q. Zais Jr. and wife Debbie, Westernport, and Allen Woodrow Zais and wife Dixie, Savage; one brother, Marshall E. Wilson, Westernport; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sumner Sawyer officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va.

Pallbearers will be Scott Buckholtz, Josh Zais, Tom Moore, Lester Chaney, Louie Thomas and Robert Wright.

GARY L. ZAIS
WESTERNPORT - Gary Lee Zais, 42, of 112 Allegany St., Westernport, died Friday, April 4, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 22, 1954, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William L. Zais Sr. and the late Ellen V. (Shears) Zais Nesbit.

Mr. Zais was a U.S. Navy veteran. He attended Keyser High School. He was a member of Black Hawk Tribe 131 Improved Order of Redmen, Westernport.

Surviving are his wife, Endia (Andrews) Zais; one son, Kellen Zais, Westernport; three daughŠ ters, Shannon Martin, Keyser, W.Va., Whitney Zais and Haley Zais, both of Westernport; four brothers, William L. Zais Jr. and wife Doris, Bloomington, Terry L. Zais, Danny J. Zais and wife Glenda, and Brian E. Nesbit and wife Kelli, all of Keyser; one sister, Patricia A. McDonald and husband Carl, Keyser; two grandchildren, Morgan Martin and Lacey Lambert; seven nephews and five nieces; special friends Greg and Tara Fazenbaker, Westernport; and stepfather, Harry E. Nesbit, Keyser.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating.

Interment will be in the Philos cemetery, Westernport.

BETTY J. ZEGLES
CUMBERLAND - Betty Jane Zegles, 73, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 17, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 18, 1923, in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Harry Grove and the late Clara (Bowser) Grove. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Zegles, in 1982.

Mrs. Zegles was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, past President of the Ladies of the Elks, and attended Friendsville High School. She retired in 1988, after running a business with her son, J. Terri Zegles. She enjoyed retirement by traveling at leisure with her loving companion, George Warner, and spending time with her grandsons and son in Florida.

Surviving are a son, J. Terry Zegles, Merritt Island, Fla.; a brother, Harry Grove, Cumberland; three sisters, Mae Shrader and Mary Zembower, both of Cumberland, and Edna Clark, Addison, Pa.; and two grandsons, Shawn and Brian Zegles, Merritt Island, Fla.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lee McDaniel officiating.

Interment will be in Greenmount cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Al Comer, Ray Kammauf, Earel Shewbridge, Herman Shank, Al Fisher and Glen Lafferty.

The family requests that memorials be sent to the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.

LILLIE M. ZEMBOWER
CUMBERLAND - Lillie Mae Zembower, 75, of 12907 Bedford Road, Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 26, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 29, 1921, in Greenspring, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Pent Z. Kerns and the late Sarah Etta (Robinson) Kerns. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, Walter Frantz and Ernest Keller; and three stepdaughters, Marianna Gross, Florence Thompson and Julia Kline.

Mrs. Zembower was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church, and attended Zion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Cortes C. Zembower, Cumberland; six children, Charles H. Frantz and wife Carolyn, Front Royal, Va., Audrey M. Woodal and husband Don, Cumberland, Jeannie Often and husband Bobby, Mount Savage, Ernest "Buddy" Smith and wife Vera, Cumberland, the Rev. Ernest "Sonny" Keller and wife Lou Ann, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Joseph Smith and wife Carol, Cumberland; one stepson, Jim Zembower and wife Josephine, Cumberland; two stepdaughters, Shirley Loudermilk and husband Richard, Capron, Va., and Mabel Rose and husband Milton, Bedford, Pa.; one brother, Dennis Kerns, Green Spring, W.Va.; one sister, Edith Jones, Green Spring; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Edward Dickel officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

HILDA R. ZILER
CUMBERLAND - Hilda Ruth Ziler, 76, of 513 Frederick St., Cumberland, died March 13, 1997, at Washington Medical Center, Washington, D.C.
Born Sept. 18, 1920, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John Guy Robertson and the late Ethel Catherine (Howsare) Robertson. She also was preceded in death by a twin brother, Charles Guy Robertson, in 1921; and her husband, Harland "Jake" Ziler, in 1972.

Mrs. Ziler was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Donna Deter and husband Ronald, Carol Davies and husband George, and Patricia McNemar and husband Dave, all of Cumberland; a sister, Frances L. Bible, Cumberland; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Robert L. Nair officiating.

Interment will be in Zion Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Ronald A. Deter, Ronald F. Deter, Gary R. Lambert, George Davies, William H. Howsare, and Leonard Wilson.
