Eatmon, Lisa Massey

Lisa Massey Eatmon, 41, of Salisbury, died Saturday September 21, 2002 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury she was the daughter of P. Custis Massey and Jane R. Massey of Salisbury.

Lisa had taken the previous year to travel with her husband and two children on a full time odyssey to see the United States by motorhome. They had toured 42 states including Hawaii, when Lisa became ill with lymphoma on the way to Alaska. Prior to the start of this adventure Lisa had been a homemaker and homeschool teacher in the town of Emerald Isle, NC.

Lisa grew up in Salisbury graduating from Parkside High School in 1979. She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Delaware and went to work at WL Gore where she met her future husband Ray on her first day at the job. Lisa and Ray moved to North Carolina in 1988 where she worked for Bosch Power Tools until the arrival of her first child. Since that time Lisa had devoted herself to her children with a flair and passion that made her an inspiration to mothers everywhere. Lisa was active in Community Theater and 4H Clubs of Carteret County, NC. She enjoyed the writing, art, and the music of others and even made some of her own. She also enjoyed reading, biking, hiking, and travel.

In addition to her parents, Lisa is survived by her husband, Ray; daugher, Margo; son, Rob; three brothers and their wives, Mark & Lonea Massey of Salisbury, Keith & Alma Massey of Ventura, CA and Brian & Ali Massey of Pacific Palisades, CA; and six nephews.

Lisa has left numerous friends, family and admirers and touched the lives of too many to count.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, September 28, 2002 at 3 PM at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Salisbuyry. The Rev. Dr. David Tontonoz will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Since Lisa was a great friend of libraries and reading, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bogue Banks Public Library, 320 Salter Path Rd., Suite W., Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512.

Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Haas, Myron Elsworth

Myron Elsworth Haas, 82, of Rising Sun, MD, died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at his home.

Mr. Haas, the son of the late Allen C & Sarah Sheffer Haas, was born in Lambertine, PA on August 8, 1920. He owned Haas Plumbing and Heating for over 40 years before retiring in 1997 and moving to Cecil County, MD. He joined the military in 1944 and was a decorated veteran, serving in WW II as Sergeant in the 1983rd Engineers Firefighting Platoon. He was a longtime member of Kimblesville United Methodist Church in Kimblesville, PA.

Mr. Haas is survived by his wife, Myrtle 'Peggy' Haas, 10 children/stepchildren; Karen Patnychuck of Pittsburgh, PA, Marlene Sparrow of Carlisle, PA, Frank Davis of Seminole, FL, Freda Moore of St. Albans WV, Fred Davis of Zion, IL, Alice Curtis of Orlando, FL, Cindy Dunphy of Valley Forge, PA, Tammy Armstrong of Newark, DE, Barbara Dawn Reed of Colora, MD and John Haas of Lewisville, PA; a brother, Leon Haas of Titusville, PA; 2 sisters, Freeda Alexander of Titusville, PA and Jean Ames of Venus, PA. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was prececed in death by his son Gary in 1985, a brother, Russell Haas and a great grandson Dakota Reimers.

Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 11, 2002 at Kemblesville United Methodist Church, Rte 896 and Peacedale Road, Kemblesville, PA. Friends may call at R.T. FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 111 South Queen St.., Rising Sun, MD Tuesday September 10 from 7-9 p.m. Burial will be in Kemblesville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kemblesville United Methodist Church c/o the funeral home.

East, Gladys L.

Gladys L. East, 87, a lifelong resident of Pocomoke City, died Sunday, July 24, 20054, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

Born in Pocomoke City, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Phillips and the late Elizabeth Richardson Innerest. She was the wife of the late Major Archibald East, Sr.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pocomoke City.

She is survived by a son Norman P. Leibrand and his wife Elsie of Poolesville, MD; a daughter, Linda L. Murray and her husband Earl of Pocomoke City; daughter Peggy E. Hendon of Tampa, FL; son Archie East, Jr. and his wife Wacola of Pocomoke City; a step-son, Gary G. East of Pocomoke City; a daughter-in-law, Ethel Leibrand of Havelock, NC; 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, George U. Leibrond, a brother, Maurice Phillips and a sister, Doris Beauchamp.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the Holloway Melson Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Paul Elligson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Quinton Cemetery in Pocomoke City. A reception will follow the service at the First Baptist Church at 4th and Market Street in Pocomoke City.

NEWARK, MARYLAND - WINIFRED T. BACON, age 85, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at the home of her daughter in Newark, MD. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Walter Joseph O'Malley and Winifred Lanahan O'Malley. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alvin Bacon, Sr., a great granddaughter, Megan Winifred Peters, a brother, Joseph "Doc" O'Malley and a sister Ellen Nichols.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Henman and her husband Jim of Newark and sons, William "Buzzy" Bacon, Jr. and his wife Shelby of Ocean City, Thomas W. Bacon and his wife Debra of Wilmington, DE and Glenn J. Bacon and his wife Mindy of Westminster, MD, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her two sisters, Mary Pat Furman of Parkville, MD and Delores Eva Cobb and her husband Bruce of Seaford, Virginia.

Mrs. Bacon was a homemaker, a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Baltimore and St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City, the Women's Club of Ocean City, Ocean City Senior Bowling League and the "Back Doer Girls" in Baltimore.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Scott and Hamburg Sts., Baltimore, on Sat., May l2, 2007 at l0 a.m. Rev. Mark Carter and Rev. Joseph Moose will be the Co-Celebrants. Interment will follow in New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore.

Friends may call at the Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home on Edmondson Ave. in Catonsville on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box l733, Salisbury, Md. 2l801. Arrangements are being handled locally by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, Md.

Early, Edith J.

Edith J. Early, 79, of Chester, died Saturday, August 18, 2001 at The Ruxton Convalescent Center in Richmond. She was a daughter of the late John David Jordan, Sr. and Ruth Alma Pate Jordan. Mrs. Early was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob Stiegel Early, Sr. and a brother, John David Jordan, Jr.

She is survived by a son, Jacob Stiegel Early, Jr. of Mass; a granddaughter, Rehanna Early of Mass; a sister, Ruth Jordan of Chester; two brothers, Russell L. Jordan of Fairfax Co. and Robert E. Jordan of Ashland as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Episcopal Church, 12201 Richmond Street, Chester. Rev. Robert Armstrong will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Bensley Bermuda Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 657, Chester, Virginia 23831.

Bacon, Edith Nietsch

Edith Nietsch Bacon, 94 of Salisbury died Saturday, April 20, 2002 at the John B. Parsons Home. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was a daughter of the late William and Augusta Schilling Nietsch. Her husband, Rowland H. Bacon preceded her in death in 1986.

Mrs. Bacon was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury.

She is survived by a daughter, Julia B. Fisher and her husband Thomas of Salisbury; a son, Mark B. Bacon and his wife Elena of San Juan, Puerto Rico; two grandchildren, Marco Rafael Bacon and Matthew McAvoy Fisher and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 6:00 PM at Holloway Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Rev. Howard Gordy will officiate. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Easter Sr., Elmer L.

On June 19, 2005, Elmer L. Easter Sr. of Pasadena. Devoted husband of 46 years to the late Dorothy Easter; Beloved father of Pete Easter Jr. and his wife Brenda, Darlene Barbour and her late husband John, Murray Easter Sr. and his wife Deborah and Terry Easter and his wife Cathy; Loving brother of John Easter, Charles Easter, Irene Berger and Jane Stein; Loving grandfather of 6 and great-grandfather of 3. He is predeceased by seven sisters and one grandchild.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral Home on Tuesday (6/21) from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday (6/22) at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Loudon Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401. Thank you.
