East, Shirley Fers

Shirley Fers East of Chester died on Saturday, March 9, 2002, at her residence. A native of Chester, she was the daughter of the late Allie W. and Lois Covington Fers, and the widow of James Lloyd East. Mrs. East was a retired operator at Allied Chemical. She is survived by two sons, James Lloyd East, Jr., and Dale Allen East; two daughters, Rita Diane East, and Wanda East Fink, all of Chester; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Pearle Edith Holton of Petersburg, Lucille Smith of Hopewell, Doris Collura of Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2002, in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. Reverend William E. Rawlings III will officiate. Please assemble at the grave. Funeral arrangements by E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights.

Eaddy, Phyllis C.

Phyllis C. Eaddy, 58 of Salisbury, MD, went to Heaven on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at her home.

Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Louise Mack Eaddy.

She worked at Parkside High School in the cafeteria since 1998. She was a member of Deaf Independent Living Association for 14 years. She attended William S. Bear School for the deaf in Baltimore.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony Rodriguez of Salisbury; sisters: Beverly Eaddy, Grace Bishop, Rosalie Mobley, Helen Eaddy, Lucille Eaddy and Mary L. Wallace-Ben; brothers: Purnell Eaddy, Samuel Eaddy, and Donald Eaddy; a host of relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Michael Eaddy.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 11 AM at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM. The Rev. Oren Perdue will officiate. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Contributions may be made to Deaf Independent Living Association, 806 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Eastman, Kathaleen Carter

Kathaleen "Kathy" Carter Eastman, 77, of Colonial Heights died Monday May 5, 2003 at her residence. A native of Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William and Rena French Carter. Mrs. Eastman was a member of the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville Va. and was retired from Civil Service. She is survived by her husband Richard "Dick" Eastman, a son, Barry L. Phillips Sr. and wife Billye of Prince George Va. and a daughter Janice Kay Phillips of Columbus Ohio, grandchildren, Belynda Randolph, Bonita Phillips, and Barry L. Phillips II, two grandchildren in-law, Alan Randolph and Erika Phillips, and great grandchildren Zachary Randolph and James C. Randolph. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 - 7 p.m. with a service following at 7 p.m. in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights with the Rev. Graham Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Louisville Kentucky on Friday May 9, 2003. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at Heady Arch L. & Son Funeral Directors 8519 Preston Hwy Louisville Ky. 40219

Eastridge, Garmon D.

Garmon D. Eastridge, age 82, of Darlington, MD died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Harford Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Eastridge was born on February 13, 1920 in Rowlandsville, MD. He was employed at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII, serving in North Africa, Corsica and France. He enjoyed traveling, picnics, gardening and mechanics.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clara Bonita Eastridge of Darlington, MD; a sister, Grace Dalton of Rising Sun, MD; 2 brothers, Paul Bowers Eastridge of Sparta, NC and John Eastridge of Waldorf, MD; and many nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his son, David Garmon Eastridge.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday April 1, 2002 at R. T. FOARD FUNERAL HOME, 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be at Conowingo Baptist Cemetery.

Dabney , Robert Franklin "Billy"

Robert Franklin "Billy" Dabney, 80, of Chesterfield died Sunday, September 4, 2005 at his residence. A native of Chesterfield County, he was the son of the late Willie Thomas and Ethel May Puckett Dabney and the widower of Delma Newcomb Dabney. Mr. Dabney served his country with the United States Army during World War II, was a retired supervisor of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation with over thirty years of service. and was a long time member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by a daughter Ruby D. Andrews and husband: Willard of Prince George, four sons: Robert Michael "Mike" Dabney, Sr. and wife Joy , Jesse Lorenzo Dabney and wife Wanda, Richard Thomas "Ricky" Dabney, Sr. and Alice Faye Wyatt Campbell and Dwight Maurice Dabney and Lisa Watkins Roberts all of Chesterfield; six grandchildren, Kellie Andrews, Robert Andrews, Amy Dishman, Robert Michael Dabney, Jr., Amanda Booe and Richard Thomas Dabney, Jr.:four great-grandchildren, Will Andrews, Mary Andrews, Sarah Dishman and Kimberly Dishman; three sisters, Mildred "Susie" Galante of Hopewell, Ethel "Sweetpea" Bottoms of Colonial Heights and Littie Edwards of Dinwiddie, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins: and two devoted care givers, Francis Blackwell and Celeste Stith.

A funeral will be held at 1P.M., Wednesday, September 7, 2005 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. E.D. Clem of Greenwood Presbyterian Church officiating . Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends this evening from 7:00-8:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

Daffin, Ronald F.

Ronald F. Daffin of Denton, MD, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at The Memorial Hospital of Easton, MD. He was 58.

He was born June 3, 1944 in Easton, MD, the son of the late Raymond F. and Elizabeth Navratil Daffin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Shirley Young Daffin.

He graduated from Colonel Richardson High School Class of 1962. He served his country in the United States Army. He had been employed as a route salesman for Wonder and Zaffere Bread Companies, had been a manager of Doc's Quick Shop in Oxford, MD , and had been employed by the State Of Maryland as a correctional officer in Jessup and Church Hill Correctional Facilities. He was a member of Church of the Brethren in Denton and had attended Faith Fellowship in Preston.

He is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Shirley Anthony Daffin, a step-grandchildren, whom he raised, Joel Meredith, III at home, one sister, Kay C. Cooper, and her husband, Jimmy,of Ridgely, three nieces, five step children, 12 step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg, MD with Rev. Howard "Buddy" Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Faith Fellowship, 23714 Collins Road, Preston, MD 21655.

Dacre, Dr. Jack Craven

Dr. Jack Craven Dacre, 81, of Frederick died on Saturday, April 7, at College View Nursing Center, Frederick. He was the husband of Jean R. Olney Dacre, his wife of 50 years.

Born on January 1, 1920, in Auckland, New Zealand, he was the son of the late George Craven and Grace Piper Dacre. Mr. Dacre was a toxicologist working at Ft. Dertick for more than 20 years. He earned a B.S.C. amd M.S.C. at Auckland University in New Zealand and his Ph.D., D.S.C. at London University in England. Mt. Dacre enjoyed gardening and was a stamp collector.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons; Kenneth J. Dacre, Terrence M. Dacre and wife Donna, and Paul C. Dacre all of Frederick; and a grandson Michael C. Dacre also of Frederick.

Mr. Dacre was preceded in death by a son Simon Dacre.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 10, in the Stauffer Funeral Home Chapel, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Inurnment will be private.

Dabney, Delma Yancey Newcomb

Delma Yancey Newcomb Dabney, 72, of Chesterfield, died Monday, December 22, 2003 at her residence surrounded by her family. A native of Lunenburg Co, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Ruby Langford Newcomb. Mrs. Dabney had dedicated the past 7 years of her life providing loving care to her husband of over 55 years, Robert Franklin Dabney.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Willard Andrews of Prince George; fours sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Joy Dabney, Jesse and Wanda Dabney, Richard Dabney and Dwight Dabney all of Chesterfield; six grandchildren, Kellie Andrews-Whelan, Robert Andrews, Amy Dishman, Amanda Dabney, Michael Dabney and Richard "T" Dabney; four great-grandchildren, Sarah and Kimberly Dishman and Will and Mary Andrews; brothers, Garland Newcomb, Sam Newcomb and Gene Newcomb; a sister, Megaline St. John and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, with the Rev. R. Roland Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7 until 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Virginia, 7231 Forest Avenue, Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23226 or the American Cancer Society, 1117 Fort Hayes Drive, Petersburg, VA 23805.

Delia D'Amico nee DiMedio

Age 84, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003 in Baltimore, MD where she resided for the past two years to be near her daughter.

Delia was born in Civitella Messer Riamondo Abruzzi Italy and came to America in the 1940's. She was a lifelong member of the St. Anthony R.C. Church in Wilmington and was a member of their Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, and the St. Anthony's Choir. She was also a member of the St. Ann's Senior Center.

Delia was accomplished at crochet. She enjoyed cooking and all of the culinary arts.

Delia was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Amore D'Amico who died June 12, 1996. She is survived by her sons, Peter P. D'Amico of Hockessin, and Anthony D'Amico of New York City; her daughters, Marie L. Noplock of Baltimore, MD, and Judy D. Schafer of Bethesda, MD; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony R.C. Church, 9th & DuPont Sts., Wilmington on Mon. Mar. 17th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment in the Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
